Striker475: I don't know. every documentary, article, tv show, etc I see on the subject says that the Canadian Corps on the western front were feared the most by the German army. Or maybe the Germans were just afraid of everyone.

rcduggan: I don't know alot about how Japans war in China played out in real life. All I know is that they didn't get too far inland due to the shear weight of numbers of the Chinese forces. In this campaign however, you will see that Japan gets very far in asia.

likk9922 and Miihkali: I have practically no army at this point to send to Europe. Besides, letting France fall is part of the story of WW2. And I use the German imperial flag simply because I like it.


In January of 1940, Canada's industrialization program is finally complete.


With our economy now very strong, we can afford a 4th tech team. In other news, the Finns are able to force the Soviet union to the negotiating table, and the Winter War ends.


We beginning building to go to war. Infantry, heavy equipment, Heavy cruisers, and Destroyers are being built.


The governor General decides to resign.


Our IC after all of our factories have come online. Our total IC now brings us on par with Italy, basically making Canada a real world player.


The germans begin to initiate Fall Weserubung, their plan to conquer the peoples of Denmark and Norway.


While War continues abroad, democracy continues at home. Mackenzie King and his Liberal party win Re-Election in a landslide victory, thanks in part for the policies of economic growth with building new factories and creating new jobs.


The cabinet after the election. Not much changes, except the posts of Head of State, Minister of Security and Minister of Intelligence.


Denmark falls.

German forces invade Belgium in a bid to bypass the Maginot line and move into the heart of France itself.


Several days later, Luxembourg is invaded, and German troops also invade the Netherlands.


With continental Europe collapsing, Neville Chamberlain resigns, and Winston Churchill becomes Prime Minister of the British Empire.


Our first batch of brand new Destroyers are completed and put into service.


The state of the Western frontlines on June 4th, 1940. Holland has been overrun, and most of Belgium is now in German hands.


The Government of Hungary decides to join the war on the Side of the German Empire. Hungarian soldiers are soon going to start arriving on the Western front.


Even more bad news. Italy decides to join the war on the German side as well, and immediately begins to invade Algeria and Egypt.


And finally even worse news. Chiang Kai shek surrenders. The Japanese choose to completely annex the lands of China. "Unthinkable!" the PM yells when told of the news. Mao Zedong however, vows never to surrender, and with the help of soviet Aid and political pressure, the warlords of Sinkiang and Xibei San Ma join the Communist cause and vow to fight to the last man.


Italian forces are marching through western Egypt, facing only sporadic resistance from British Colonial forces.

Our first batch of Heavy Cruisers are finished construction and are ready for service.

The war in Europe starts to go badly even after a pair of French encirclements succeeded in capturing at least 170,000 German troops. The Germans are able to replenish their losses and reinforce their lines with troops from Hungary and Slovakia. The French army is worn down to the point where they can no longer resist effectively. Soon the German army takes the French capital of Paris.


And with the fall of Paris comes the fall of France. The people of Canada are shocked when they hear the news. What was once thought as impossible has just happened. France is defeated, however Free French forces under General DeGaulle vow to fight on from France's colonial empire.


The new map of Europe.


Italy invades Greece. Immediately afterwards, Greece joins the allied powers.


Germany offers a pact to Italy and Japan, carving the world into spheres of influence for each nation. Italy accepts, but Japan refuses.


Turmoil in the Middle East leads to Syria joining the axis and Iraq becoming a fascist government and leaving the allies.


Romania joins the axis.

German troops land in southern Norway.


Meanwhile, Britain decides to declare war on Vichy France. As if we didn't have enough enemies to deal with.


German troops begin crossing into Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia joins the allies, but they won't stand a chance.


Bulgaria joins the axis after the war begins in Yugoslavia. It seems like we are gaining new enemies every day.


The Syrian capital of Damascus falls to the Australian army. With the loss of their capital, Syria surrenders.


In response to Japan's aggressiveness in Asia and the pacific, the USA cuts off all supplies of oil and rare materials to the Japanese empire.


Yugoslavia falls to the axis powers and Croatia is given "independence" as a German Vassal.


Shortly afterwards, German forces invade Greece, giving the Italians enough assistance for them to conquer the country.


Norway falls to the Germans.

With the completion of the rest of our heavy cruisers, our industries and shipyards begin construction of brand new Battleships and air superiority fighters.


Our forces are finally ready for combat. Our transports, under the escort of our cruisers and destroyers, begin sending Canadian soldiers across the Atlantic to the British naval base at scapa flow in preparation for our first campaign in the war. It will take 2 trips to get all the troops to Britain.


During our transport mission, Prime Minister King receives a letter from the Japanese embassy in Ottawa. King is shocked when he reads that Japan has declared war on Canada, the rest of the allied powers, and on the United states. "This is truly a world war now." The PM remarks.


A couple of days later, the US congress passes a declaration of war against the European axis powers. The US joins the allied powers, and the worlds greatest industrial power is now our ally.


Canadian warships engage the forces of the German empire for the first time in the southeast Faroes Gap. The german force is a small transport fleet consisting of a few transport ships and a group of destroyers escorting them. They are easy prey for the heavy guns of our cruisers, and all the German vessels are sunk.



My worsening manpower situation. I really don't want to have to wait for months for my manpower to regenerate once it hits zero, and I also don't want to use the "manpower" cheat. I know that there are 3 events that give you free manpower, one from youth volunteers, one from refugees, and one from female laborers being tapped to work in factories. Does anyone know what the numbers are for these events?

Secret meeting, 24 sussex drive

King Haakon of Norway had been through alot lately. Hiding in a bunker underneath his palace during German air raids, fleeing from Oslo with the Norwegian army, and finally heading into exile on a British submarine just as German forces marched into Narvik. Now he was here in Canada, asked to visit the country by its Prime minister, Mackenzie king. "I wonder what he wants?" thought the king.

He entered a big living room located in the back of the building, overlooking a large backyard, dotted with military police members and policemen from Canada's Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Inside the room sat Prime minister King, along with a group of military men who were the chiefs of the Canadian Armed Forces.

"Welcome your majesty, please have a seat, and we will get started. What do you think of our nation so far?" Said the PM.

The king responded. "This is a very beautiful country Mr, King. However, nothing is more beautiful than my homeland. Unfortunately I can not see my nation or my people anymore, ever since those Nazi bastards took it from me."

"That is about to change your majesty."
"What do you mean?"
"Let me show you operation northern liberty your majesty. The campaign to liberate your nation from German rule"
"So soon!" The king said in a surprised voice. "Do you even have that capability?"
"We do now." Remarked the Prime Minister.


Operation Northern Liberty. We will land an army of 120,000 Canadian troops at Narvik. These forces will move north to Hammerfest and Vardo, and will also head south to liberate Trondheim. At the same time, a similar sized force will land at Stavanger and move to liberate Oslo and the rest of the country.

"My god, I will actually be able to see my country again! Who will run the country after the Germans are kicked out?"
"The country will be under Canadian military control until the end of the war, at which point the country will be fully liberated and independent once again. However, we will let you and the civilian authorities run domestic affairs. Is this acceptable your majesty?" Asked the PM.

"Yes." Said the king. "Proceed as soon as you are ready. Thank you."
"No problem your majesty." Said the Prime Minister.

FWIW, i only have DD 1.2... however, i doubt that those events or numbers are changed.

that said, in your order: 1003 (100 mp), 1007 (30 mp), 1004 (100 mp.) if i understand events correctly, these are one time events.

personally, i think it would be better to adjust your recruitment rate. i don't know how to do this, but i think it involves changing the game save. doing it by event would be neat, but i don't know enough about DD to make it work. your justification is simple. with your increased IC, you can afford to subsidize the birth of more children as well as your population will have more disposable income...

The Canadian fleet anchors off the coast of Norway and Canadian soldiers approach the coast in their landing crafts.


Narvik is liberated without a shot fired. The population of the city cheers as columns of Canadian soldiers and vehicles march through the city.


The first encounter with a heavy German surface ship. The Battleship Tirpitz is spotted off the coast of east england, and is engaged by our heavy cruisers. Although the ship is a formidable opponent, it stands no change against 10 heavy cruisers firing all of their guns and torpedo's at it.


The Tirpitz is destroyed. This is a glorious day for the Canadian Navy.


100,000 Canadian soldiers, including an Army HQ, land in Stavanger in southern Norway. They immediately engage 20,000 German and Bulgarian troops to their North in Bergen.



The German forces retreat after a short battle.

60,000 Canadian troops engage 10,000 German soldiers at Trondheim, brushing them aside and liberating the city.


Back off the coast of Norway, the fleet engages a small German transport force, which also includes the German light cruiser KMS Stettin. The cruiser is destroyed, and the transport flotillas are sunk later on.

The last stand of the German army in Norway. 2 German divisions, including a panzer division dig in in the city. Canadian troops clear them out after a short but intense battle. The country is now under our control.


The German empire and its allies declare war on the Soviet Union. Finland also joins the war on the German side.


Finnish troops attack Canadian positions around the town of Vardo, forcing us to retreat. The threat doesn't last long however, as southern finland is overrun by soviet forces and Finland switches sides, withdrawing its troops from the northern areas.



The opposition demands a tougher, more aggressive stance towards the way the war is being fought. The government agrees. (sweet!)


The Phillipines fall to the Japanese army.

Great job in liberating Norway. Soon Operation Overlord will occur, with only Canadian troops. Go Canada!

One last update for tonight.

The Chinese communists under Mao are finally worn down to the point where they can not resist any longer. The Communist chinese surrender to the Japanese army. China is now under complete Japanese dominance. Mao Zedong flees to the Soviet Union, vowing to return.


Canada's battleship fleet is finally complete. They are the most powerful vessels in the entire Canadian Navy. The battleships are designed after Britains King George V class battleships.

The European theatre of operations on Feb 12th, 1942. Norway is under Canadian control, Italy has seized the middle east, German troops are marching through the Soviet Union, crushing what resistance the soviets can offer, and US troops have landed in Algeria.


In Asia, Japan is on the warpath. They have taken Malaya, Singapore, the Phillipines, China, and are invading the Dutch East Indies and Burma.


This war is going to get alot worse before it gets better.

God damn this war gets bad. Very bad. I will show you all later.

The navy engages the German battleship Bismarck off the coast of Norway. The German battleship is destroyed in a hail of intense naval gunfire.



Our first army corps of mechanized infantry is completed and ready for service.


Some new factories that we built to help increase production are completed.


We begin construction of our first Tank divisions. They will be ready for combat by the end of the year.


To help solve our manpower problem, we send women to work in the factories, freeing up the men for combat duty.


Bhutan Falls.


The soviets are being crushed.


Nepal falls.

Soviet troops actually manage to encircle German troops at Kuybyshev. However, German troops are able to break the encirclement later on.


The soviet army is being bootstomped in practically every front. At this rate, they will not last long. Prime minister king orders that plans and production for Operation Overlord be accelerated.


Canadian troops engage a force of German mountaineers at Petsamo, in the Far north near Murmansk. The germans are easily crushed.


Our first airfleet of Bombers is completed.


Iran Falls. This war is going clearly is Axis favour.


Parliament decides to ban the communist party, in the interest of national security. The PM accepts the bill.


The soviet union is increasingly desperate. All observers of the situation predict that the soviet union will not last much longer.


Admiral Yamamoto, Japan's best carrier admiral, is assassinated by the US. Also note the size of the Japanese empire.


With the soviet union hanging by a thread, it is decided to immediately launch operation overlord, despite the common knowledge that the Canadian army is not ready yet. To keep the Germans fighting on the eastern front though, it is decided to proceed.


Canadian troops will land in France, and march straight through the area into the heart of the German empire itself. It is hoped that by capturing most of Germany's industry, we can cripple the German army indefinitely and finally win the war in Europe. To help speed up our advance, we will pull must of our troops from Norway.
