Final Game Review Screen

Hello everyone,

I wanted to gauge peoples' thoughts on the Review Screen which appears either at the end of the game (1793 for EUIII, and 1820 for NA) or when the player chooses the 'Resign' option from the main menu.

I, for one, really enjoy reading this brief account of my country's progress when I have finished a game or when I finish a gaming session. It is especially useful for longer games where a lot of events have occured so that you can review your general progress after you have finished.

My first question is what do you all think of the screen and whether you think it serves any purpose? I.e. is it useful to see a review at the end of a game or do you just like seeing your greatest deeds recorded.

My second question is to ask you whether you think it could be improved? Should it be improved?

I would really welcome a more detailed summary of my country's progress. I dare say that something akin to what is done in the Civilization games would be most welcome. I would find graphs and figures concerned with the economy and military of your country to be a great addition.

For all those budding imperialists and expansionists out there it would be fantastic to view a full-screen map of the world showing your terriroties and colonies in order to give a greater sense of scale to your achievements.

Most of the most useful information is already contained in the Ledger and so it would be a good start to allow the player to view the the Ledger at the Review Screen.

It's only an idea designed to stimulate some discussion on an often ignored game mechanic and I hope you can tell me all what you all think.

Very best wishes,

Andrew

Yes, gimme more info, perhaps when you scroll over the wars, it says which countrys were part of it, and when you go over the rulers their abilities should show. Also more info on inner politics should be shown. A change of Government surely is worth a mention. Lots of things that could be added. Also access to the ledger and a world mapwould be be great, perhaps even a timeline and a change of provinces colour, civ-like. Ohh, and i am still very disappointed of the general end in 1820...no video, and the text...

After a few monarchs, my savegames always lose a track on gained and lost provinces and only a list of wars is displayed. Also, it's virtually impossible to get a summary of slider changes (because, let's face it, how many monarchs live long enough to witness more than one-two slider changes?). I'd appreciate more flavour captions too - like vassalizations, diploannexations, countries revolting, proclamation of DoF and so on.

I somehow prefered Vicky's end screen.

This is a flavour feature, it would not be improved as it doesn't give anything new to the game, it's just a esthetically change, so I guess Paradox would never do it.

I pretty much agree. I wouldn't mind seeing it improved, it is a nice feature after all, but ultimately it adds nothing to the game.

I remember Johan saying he likes EU3 and will spend some weekdays working on it. Maybe it will get his attention?

It also bugs me that when you get an event to form a nation (Russia, Italy, etc.) your 'end of session' screen gets reset and it loses all the info about previous wars, provinces gained, and such. It just has a long list of kings that apparently did nothing (though I know this to be entirely untrue).

And yes, with a bit more info I think it would be a really nice feature. But it's unnecessary, so no need to put man-hours into it.

Some women at the end screen would give me a sense of achievement.

I'd enjoy a Civ-like map/timeline to see what provinces you controlled over history in a sort of realtime effect, but i can imagine that the amount of information needed to be saved would be rather hefty
