Getting England to Surrender Canada

I'm playing the American Dreams or Beginnings or whatever campaign right now. Is it possible to get England to surrender most or all of Canada if I occupy it? I'm at 84% right now, and I'm wondering if I should push for 100. It seems like whenever I try to get even a 60% number of provinces, they don't allow me to.

Another question- just how do I play as any country I want for any campaign, anyways? Same question for HOI II.

Right click on any of the shields (those you click to select a country at the start of the game)and you'll get a list of most of the playable countries.

In American Dream only the US can be selected, if you want to play other countries in that scenario play The Age of Revolutions scenario, they are exactly the same. And as the previous poster said, right clicking should bring up a list.

England may have ferocity to "yes" in that scenario which would mean they never accept anything above half of your WS, so even with 99% you can only demand 49% in terms of provinces. If you can get to full occupation (100%) you can probably ask for more but still not anything above 80% in my experience.
Of course if you keep sending offers that are -11% less than your WS they will lose a stability point every time they refuse so their government might collapse.

You have been here for 4 years but haven't figured out how to change flags on select screen?

Krhm, for maximal amount of land gained you should wait for them to sue peace. AI likes to give loads of land but not accept your reasonable offer.

I only recently got HOI II DD, and my EU II copy from merry ol' Britannia (cost me 1 pence plus shipping) arrived in the mail only yesterday. I've mainly been playing EU I, which requires a mod to play all the countries.

Okay, thanks for the information, one more question- is it possible to annex Shawnee completely? I've overrun them, scored 100%, but they always refuse. Do I need to beat up England more?

If they're pagan, you should be able to annex them completely in one war once you control everything. If that doesn't work for some reason, try getting a separate peace with England first. I can't think of why it wouldn't work though.

they could also have a lot of troops somewhere, sometimes also AI-pagan refuse to be annexed if they have them.

btw... 100% means you control every single province, if you control everything except also a little 1 pop. colony somewhere in the world you have not 100 %

Not quite. I'm pretty sure you can get 100% even if there are colonies or tp's out of your control.

The colonization chance is capped at 95%.

Yup, as long as you control all of their actual provinces then you will have 100% ws

However they can still refuse your offers of peace if they are too high even at 100%.

To make sure an AI accepts a 99% peace you have to capture every single colony/tp and destroy every single army or navy

And even then if you play on any harder difficulty they may refuse or at least take 10-15 years before they agree on the peace.

If you manage the total and complete victory conditions I am almost certain they accept the next peace offer as long as it is below 100%

You are right though they are however incredibly stubborn if you've just won a "normal" total victory
