Can you play other powers? Like minor ones?

So I i've had Viki for 3 years now and i've recently been reading the VickiWiki and they talk about little powers like Brazil, Bavaria or pre-WWI Serbia as if you can really play them, but I dont see an option to play them on the normal screen amoung the other flags, is there some trick I need to know in order to play the smaller powers?

Any help you really be helpful

You need to right-click on one of the flags when you choose the scenario; works the same for all pdox games since EUII.

Wow, you have really been missing out!
Playing minor powers is the most fun!

This is what it says on the start up screen

Quote:
Click on one of the flags above

Right click on a flag to change it
So you should try that

I remember, when EUII came out I was all pissy when the IGC guys didn't make a mod so I could choose different countries again. Then someone helpfully pointed out the new feature to me, felt like an idiot!

In somewhat the same vein: When loading a save game and then right clicking the only active flag (the flag of the country the game is saved as) you can switch countries, but it is not possible to select any of the countries of the not active flags (ie the great powers). Any way to get around this problem?

I don't know why but you have to go to the multiplayer screen, change your name to anything, and then back out of it and you should be able to change the flags on a saved game, don't know why, but that does it.

Or you could play with hotfix 5 where you get one open flag for specifically this reason.

You can change all the flags to countries you don't plan on switching to (indian minors and stuff) before you start the game. Or you can edit the save game.

In VIP they removed all the flags but one.

for those that liked the single flag setup in hotfix 5, it is very easy to custom do it yourself.

(and it really is a help in single player games not having to change a bunch of files to switch nations mid-game if you so want.)

go to scenarios/1836.eug and where you see the following lines

Code:
ENG = {	}

FRA = {	}

PRU = {	}

AUS = { }

RUS = {	}

SAR = {	}

SPA = { }

USA = {	}

HOL = { }

TUR = {	}

CHI = {	}
delete the lines from FRA to CHI, so all you have is

Code:
ENG = {	}
Save and start game. One flag will appear, all nations will be scrolled underneath (including FRA, USA etc) and the easy change nation in a savegame will be possible.

You can right click and change all the flags to minor. When and if you get bored or the become to major players you can always play the real major players.

I like Egypt the best. darn ottoman.

no, but it was an error to included it since it screws up multiplayer games. So for the next official patch (whenever that will be, I do not know so don't even ask me) it would be with the multiple flags at start in any case.

But for single player, having the single flag is much more conveninent (hence why it is this way in VIP, which we do not recommend for multiplayer use in any case).
