The grass is greener on the green country side

Is there a way to convince a vassal of another kingdom he'd be happier under you?

yes. most usually when you have a good reputation and he's revolted from his lord and wants some help.

if you have a higher title that somehow involves him as a vassal, then its a lot easier.

Well, he's currently loyal and happy with his current lord, I was wondering more how could I sow some dissent in there. Send him large gifts perhaps?

i don't think that gifts work like that. they'd just make him more loyal to his current liege. thus ruining his chance of defecting to you!

i could be wrong on that. another way to mess with the AI would be to swipe his chancellor if she is female - she leaves his court after marriage and presumably somebody with less skill takes her spot. Every monthly % helps.

It's pretty risky but loyalty drops when a liege dies. So an assassination might work. If it works. And did i mention it's risky?

There's nothing you can do. The game doesn't simulate any diplomatic relationship but vassal/liege. There are 700-odd countries in a typical game of CK, after all.

Assassinating the guy's liege won't help -- AFAIK the loyalty penalty only applies to humans inheriting human realms.

Knocking off/marrying his liege's talented chancellor is a possibility, but probably won't work. If he's a good liege he doesn't need the loyalty boost his Chancellor gives him, and even if he's a bad liege he might have more talented diplomats at his court.

It's a pity though, because it would be fun if the spymaster's work is also to create dissents and rumours among the enemies.

I hope that if there will be CK2, features of stratagem and plot-creation will be available.

Granted F12->die is not a perfect experiment, but i did see a loyalty effect when i decided to wipe out the Plantagenets and their Gelre successors til a random nobody spawned to become King of England.
So i think there is some sort of loyalty drop involved for the AI.

excommunicate his liege -- that should drop his loyalty quite a bit, over time.

of course, you need to be Papal Controller to do that.

I've tried many wars of assassins, no f12 cheating there, but offing the chancellor and opportunity for chancellors until they all suck, and then just keep killing whoever tries to take the crown might work out quite well.

If they do make a CK2, I hope they find a way to liven it up. You can only kill muslims easily, and wars against your christian neighbors incurs so much badboy when you get midly aggressive that I spend more time reading than I do playing. Your essentially sitting around, watching your courtiers get illnesses, go insane, and wondering when the Atlantic wall that is germany is going to finally topple over onto your inner franco-spanish italian empire.

In the meantime, you could follow the example of European royalty and set your relatives up as dukes and kings in all sorts of far-flung places.

(What do you mean the King of Greece is the brother-in-law of the Kaiser?! This is World War One, dagnabbit, should somebody have put a stop to this by now?!)

Made slightly easier by the tendency for European kingdoms to collapse and then get taken over by Muslim invaders who walk to Praha or swim to Iceland.

The only problem being that Muslims tend to disappear... except for the holdouts in Norway and Denmark.
