Border wars idea
During this time wars were not so much about huge land grabs but rather about towns and forts along each others borders...sometimes large numbers changed hands but usually a number would be seized and a few given away. I do not know if event triggers can support this following idea but maybe it could help and might be interesting to try.
When the border conflict event fires giving a core allow a war event to fire allowing say a war score % to be the check factor if you achieve that war score you get a second event which adds 1 tax to your prov bordering it and minuses one from the prov you had core on this is to reflect the small scale border changes in effect the narrow strip of land that changes...maybe a % of manpower as well. Have a flag add saying this is disputed call it disputed 1 and have say 4 or 5 levels of dispute each time you fight a war if you control that province you get the event to fire again each time miniziing the value of the target prov and enriching yours, each time you lose control a counter event fires returning those values the other direction, if you acheive say 5 flags levels then event fires ceding that province to you and restoring the original tax and manpower values. This would mean even if you fight several white peace wars against a major 5 wars on cores could net you a province over time. Not sure how doable it is but what do you think? This would allow wars against majors that do not have to end in full total war..have a trigger that fires the war fromt he border conflict and have it reoccur every so many years with a yes or no to war..say no you lsoe a level say yes you have a war for control of it resulting in a change if you seize it and an event that fires peace if you succeed |

Sounds interesting but complicated. I can imagine people being upset at being on the other end of this event series though.

well just means they would have to station troops in disputed lands if you know someone has a core on it you station troops to protect it so if they push you can beat em off
if they can rig a warscore flag to trigger peace if you beat ff their armies enough it should fire and they would lsoe their core if they havent accumilated enough land to maintain the claim
