Nice info. Could we use it in E³Mod? Thanks, Tegetthoff.

You are free to use it in any mod. At the center of this is a Nationalist Chinese defeat event that creates puppet China and warlord with leaders, something I am quite proud of but that has never been taken up by a mod.

The full set of events will not work without modification, since it is a CORE add-on written for my private enjoyment. As mentioned above, the following has to be checked:

* file structure is CORE compatible, so will have to be changed (both where the files go and the few calls of alternate AI files)
* many events change tech teams, and their id numbers and skills are CORE compatible
* some events change leaders, again CORE compatible (but not such a big deal)
* some events grant techs, again CORE compatible id numbers

But nothing a good modder cannot change.

Best Regards

T.

P.S.: And, Vladimir, congratulations on your map work, I am really looking forward to that

A note on the CCIP. I was playing as Communist China a couple days ago, and I had taken Xibei San Ma, Sinkiang, Tibet and Shanxi and was at peace with the nationalists since Xi'an incident (I took Xibei before it fired). Later I declared war on the nationalists again, and I had taken everything north of the Yangtze river plus Nanjing and a few surrounding provinces. Needless to say, I was going to beat the nationalists. In early 1937 they offered peace which would give me everything i had taken to that point, plus a few more provinces, but I rejected as I was clearly winning. A short while later, the japanese had the marco polo bridge event, and decided to declare war on the nationalists and Guangxi Clique. Nationalists decided it was time to form the unified front, and when their event fired we entered a peace for some reason? Their event triggered an event for me, where I could chose to either join them and fight Japan, or stay out of trouble. In my opinion, the Unified front event shouldn't fire AT ALL, if nationalists and communists are at war, or at least it should give the option to keep fighting the current war instead of giving the player a punch in the face. Just a thought. And perhaps there could be events that gives tech teams after each annexation instead of when entire China is united. Would make things a lot easier.

Other than that, very good mod.

I just started writing a Nat. China AAR and as part of that I've been reading a lot of books about the period.

One thing that came up which is cool was a few paragraphs about the Guangxi conflict. The book, which is quite good, (The Nationalist Era in China: 1927 - 1949) frames the war as not being started by any Japanese action, but by Chiang Kai Shek himself.

According to this, in May of 1936, 胡漢民 died. His credentials as a nationalist and former premiere of the Guomindang had been part of what allowed the southern warlords to remain independent. At his funeral, Chiang Kai Shek threw down the gauntlet, making clear his plans to integrate the Guangdong and Guangxi into the Nanjing government. It's only after this that Guangxi starts moving troops into Hunan.

The effects of the event chain are fine, but the text should be changed a little to make it clear that Guangxi were not acting entirely in the interests of the country.

One more cool thing that should be an event is the option to do what Chiang did in July of 1936, namely bribing the entire Cantonese airforce to defect to the central government.

I'm bad at event coding, but, starting from the declaration of war, there should be an event that would have a 40% chance of firing. The Nat. China player would be given the option of paying 300 money and gaining the Guangxi interceptor squadron. Their option B would either be nothing at all or using the money to pay for a 1 - 2% dissent reduction.

I swear by this mod, but I think it could use a few more events that highlight Chiang's real genius, namely using bribes and incentives to separate and isolate his enemies. Of course, the monetary costs of these events should be beyond China's ability to pay, reflecting the Guomindang's habit of spending more money than they really had.

Very nice, indeed. Good work. Do you have proposals for Chinese province changes? or better, do you know some map that will show us correct borders of Chinese states? Thank you.

This is an old map showing the Republic of China province divisions. Don't use the names on there because they use the old system of romanization and it's terrible. Guangdong is much closer to the real pronunciation then "Kwangtung"

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...al_Edition.png

For smaller things, like the province size in HOI2 use this map, which is a blank map showing all of the prefecture level borders. (It's kind of dense but remember that the province of Sichuan is bigger than France.)

Unfortunately, it has no names.

I think there should be more provinces added and a few revisions to the borders to the Chinese map. The current map does not completely covers all events that had happened to China.

If you've played CCIP, then you know what I'm talking about here. The ROC didn't have claims on Feyzabad or Myitkyina, but there was no corresponding province that reflected all occupied lands by foreign powers. There are several more, I just can't think of another now.

I was thinking of a map that would show borders of Xubei San Ma, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Manchukuo, etc. Because we at E³Mod are making correct geographic detailled map of the world, so we need correct borders, not simplified like in vanilla. But there are no such maps on the internet.

And are all Chinese events that existed in Doomsday version of the mod exist in Armageddon version?

This is a bit harder. It would be easier if HOI2 had a way to designate "no man's land." The cliques weren't separate countries and as such they never had a conference to say where the borders of their spheres of influence were. Instead, they each sort of had areas where their militaries operated. This is hard because areas like Inner Mongolia were essentially ungoverned but the game makes you give them to somebody. I redid the prefecture map, making the provinces a little bigger, and adding my best bet for the political borders.

CCIP and SMEP?

Yes, I've been gone for a LONG time, but I was wondering if there was ever any movement made to integrate these two mods or at least a guide to doing it?

Well, how about you go make it and I can then steal your work... I haven't been doing as much actual modding as I would have liked lately...

I'd like to help out, if needed(like giving ideas or information). Also since I got really stuck on the Communist models in my project, I turned away and started fixing those ahistorical errors both in vanilla and CCIP(leaders, ministers, techs, etc). I wish Mib isn't gonna get mad at me?
What? Don't be silly, of course not... I'm only one joe and I can't possibly catch all the mistakes in HOI2/CCIP... so if you catch some, I'd really liked to know.

If I understood your question correctly, yes. There may have been several events that were phased out, being made unnecessary by vanilla DD:A, but otherwise they're all still there.

This is A:CCIP v0.1, I'm assuming. What you have described is a fairly common scenario that has gotten lots of people riled up in the past... The United Front event chain is a clusterf*ck with a ton of loopholes and bugs... I have fixed some of this in v0.2, but who knows what other problems will arise... One day I will have to rewrite the whole thing, probably.

Interesting. That book was one of my newest acquisitions but I haven't read it yet. I admit I don't know as much as I should about the political aspect of the era, being mostly concerned with the military... how would you suggest I word the event(s)?

If one were a real stickler for accuracy, then it wouldn't do to use the PRC borders (as the above map uses). The differences are minute, but noticeable.

I made some revision to the first event. One thing that I don't quite understand is that if a player chooses to fight Japan instead of Guangxi, the war should not erupt immediately and the player should get nothing as Guangxi's claim to fight Japan was a lie. It was only a propaganda that placed them in the higher ground. And Chiang Kai-Shek had always insisted a Chinese reunification before the Sino-Japanese war. China declaring war on Japan in 1936 did not seem to be possible considering China's strength. And Guangxi simply won't just give up everything and get annexed by Nanjing. The reason why Guangxi acted against Chiang was because Chiang threatened their ally in Guangdong. So if the player chooses the first option and go to war with Guangxi, the game should go as the historical result turned out. Chiang(or the player) should get what he asks for at the end, but the Guangxi clique keeps what they have from the beginning(Guangxi province). The result of the war between Chiang and Guangxi only destroyed the Guangdong clique, which is not presented in the game. Paradox simply combined those two cliques into one, unfortunately.

By the way, is there a tutorial to write events somewhere possibly? I've got a lot of ideas but that seems to be a waste without the ability to write events.

All you need to do is:
First, download and install Mib's CCIP
Second, download my CCIP Graphic Enhancement Project
Lastly, say goodbye to Paradox's blurry pictures and enjoy!

I agree with everything you way I juat didn't want to change the effects of the event. hence the Japanese war declaration stays in there. The game sort of represents the separation of the Guangxi and guangdong cliques. If people choose the historical peace event, they get Guangdong, while guangxi remains independent.

It might just be better to make the non civil war option be nothing at all. Maybe a boost in relations with Guangxi or a drop in dissent, but no Japanese war trigger. But CCIP is already suffering from people saying it buffs up China too much and the option to just avoid the Guangxi war with no consequences wouldn't help that, even though Chiang could have just backed down.
