Can I mod the names of planes and ships that are named after classes.
Some countries instead of having their planes and ships named "Improved battleship" or "Heavy battlecruiser" instead they are named "Something-class" like UK "prince of wales-class" in the production window. Big recongnisable countries like UK, USA, Persia as I found out in my last game have such names. Is there a way to mod these names and give them generic names instead?

If i understand correctly... you can find them in the Doomsday\config\models.csv file. or HoI2\config\models.csv
and then change them from there. As always, remember to make a backup before any changes.

I suggest you use a text editor like Wordpad to open and edit the file. Simpler than messing with csv in excel.

You can rename a fleet or division in the game, without modding the files.

i think he means the name for a category of unit.
e.g. i don't like NATO names for Soviet aircraft. Thus i change the name from "Il-10 Beast" to just "Il-10". If my guess is right then he would change it to "Improved CAS". i could be wrong of course! |

Well actually in this case I'll admit it's not that much different, but when working on large things like event text or scenario text try doing it in excel and the various lines are seperated by commas (that's what CSV means, comma seperated values). I had a lot of trouble before I started using wordpad because you have trouble getting it all into a coherent sentence. Try placing full stops and commas yourself and it punctuates the sentence all over the place.
