War & Peace (do we dispand our armies?)

After you've just fought a war, and won, do you dispand a number of armies to help fill the coffers?? I'm playing a Brandenburg, and have a large Army of late, as I've had to fight a "few" wars. So, during peace, is this what one has to do, if we're not getting ahead in the cash department??

I for one don't normally disband any armies, apart from mercenaries, that is.

I never disband my standing armies, only mercenaries which I've had to hire in an emergency. The maintenance slider does enough to reduce army maintenance in peacetime.

A regiment of infantry costs about 8 ducats (depending on domestic sliders) to build, and only about 0.1 ducat per year at 50% maintenance. Meaning, disbanding and retraining is only worth it if you're at war less than once per 80 years. I know I'm at war more often than that in my current Brandenburg game, where I'm waiting for the German unification event to fire.

If you go full Land, Quantity, Aristocracy, and Serfdom.. a huge standing army is very cheap to field. Defensive too if you keep a lot of artillery but Offensive is better.

You're always broke in the early game, relax. It comes with time. After you build a workshop in each province you'll be a bit better off, and as your tech improves you'll get more money from production, tolls and trade. And, of course, you can vassalize your neighbours, demand money from them, or go into trade. Eventually you'll have more money than you know what to do with!

If you're very frustrated about this, try playing a richer country like France - you should be able to save money every year from the beginning.
