The Official SMEP for Doomsday

I've decided to release a 6.0 beta due to popular demand (okay, one dude wanted it).

Less than 500 kb. Why? The graphics (flags, shields, counters, etc.) are not included. They will be provided later separately.

I use the Generic Mod Enabler v2.1.0.107 to enable SMEP. If you are unfamiliar, google it. I use XP and have no problems. Or you can just unpackage it over the HOI2 directory.

IMPORTANT: For best results, type "event 70000" (that's seventy-thousand) from the console at the VERY BEGINNING OF YOUR GAME WITH ANY OF THE SCENARIOS. Then unpause and let SMEP do it's thing!

Remember, this is a BETA! I would GLADLY WELCOME better text descriptions and names and action choices to events! This is not my strong point. Feel free to submit your ideas here and if they are up to my standards I will gladly paste them into SMEP for the next official release

Excellent news! Hopefully this means an imminent release. Has it been tested under Armageddon at all, and does it include a dynamic East/West division of Europe on the fall of Germany? (I ask since that was discussed as an upcoming feature of SMEP 5, I believe)

No. I don't have Armageddon yet, but may purchase it in a few months (after all the betatesting is done )

Yes, yes it does.

I will be uploading it... today sometime, if Ian can get me a flag for Germany and Turkestan. There'll be minor bugs (for example, old SMEP events for Germany post-war events will probably install the wrong ministers), but it'll all work itself out. I trust you, loyal followers, to help me.

It should definitely be considered a beta for now, though. It's SMEP 5.0... which worked great... now ported to Doomsday. I foresee few problems.

A few things to do before release:

Well, first of all, I've been able to cut down many files no longer necessary to include in the SMEP package... because Paradox took the ideas or changed the stats (for example, I changed garrison manpower cost to 8, then suddenly Paradox did, leaving my commented lines, just as they did when they incorporated SMEP into the last HOI2 patch without my knowledge). Whatever, I guess I should be flattered.

Nonetheless, issues:

I noticed on one of the new doctrines in Doomsday that Interceptors get +10% river attack... I think this is a bug. It's one of the new supply techs. Or am I, well, stupid? They probably meant infantry.

The new doctrines are lame. They need tweaked, both name- and statistics-wise. Modern Blitzkrieg? Come on. I would like suggestions and reasons for changes. And +20% org and morale for that artillery tech? Seems... insanely high. But once again, maybe I'm just an idiot.

I want YOUR opinions.

Which doctrine? That does seem kind of pointless.

By the time you've researched either you're usually on the way to global domination in any event.

Possibly a version of the US tree's Air-Land doctrine for Germany to replace Modern Blitzkrieg, since that is the next logical step in the blitzkrieg's historical development.

It is meant to be bonus for some brigades (engineers, I believe). However since such benefits can't be attached to brigades, it shows it incorrectly.

Also, I need something from you guys! In HOI2, there was a file called hoi_counter_strip.bmp or something like that which allowed players to see roundels on their counters for airplanes.

I heard the file is DIFFERENT for Doomsday. Is this true? If so, I need a copy of that.

But what to do with it? I think something could be done to salvage it. Like, not just apply the doctrine to urban provinces

Hm. Where do I save that counter strip you posted? I can't get it to work.

Maybe the name is wrong? Or location?

It's in my gfx/map directory, file is named hoi_counter_strip.bmp, just like HOI2 version. No luck seeing roundels.

Hm. Notice this difference...





Notice the difference? This is probably why the roundel won't work

Can anyone fix it?

Here are some teasers...


Want a colonial empire as Germany? Okay, but you won't please your allies



You can liberate your conquered lands in the east now in whatever order you'd like. I liberated Poland first just for irony's sake. The new nations are Transbaltica and Transcaucasia. Or you can liberate the member states, but I think it's more ideal to have a few moderately strong puppets than many weaklings. Also note I could have liberated Russia first and had them be rather strong, but I'm just showing off the fact that it doesn't matter!

Another speedbump:

Apparently there was another change in Doomsday. Let's say I'm Germany. I control Moscow and it is made a national province via event. In HOI2, this would prevent you from liberating Russia. Not in Doomsday

Any suggestions? I want to make it impossible to liberate Russia for until another event fires.
