No province gains for Ally in war..thoughts?
Playing as Genoa decided it was time to turn my attention to the ottoman empire. Organised France and England to back me up.
England ditched the call to arms but france came through. I used Austria to let my troops pass to the Balkans whilst I also sallied forth from Tunis and Constantine in N.Africa so I could split their troop attention. France came through in N.Africa as well. Over time we got to 99% warscore and Spain joined in as well of her own accord in N.Africa. I took about 4 provinces in the Balkans and Gibraltar in N.Africa France and Spain another 10 between themselves. ANywho got tired of the war, it had bogged down at this point so i wanted peace BUT i was hoping i could get some provinces and france my friendly ally could deserve her fair share as well. But no not to be. How unfair is it that France my loyal ally who fought well and got herself a decent booty of 5 N.African provinces gets nothing when i make peace and all the spoils go to me? Thats rigged. Plus i imagine it goes the other way too if france goes to war then i get stiffed and she gest all the booty. Either way its a silly system and should be changed in upcoming patch. Also whilst at war i noticed an oddity. Austria had NOT given Military Access to Kazan (ottoman ally) or ottomans yet ottomans and kazan forces were streaming across Austria towards me in N.Italy. Is that a bug or what? |

The alliance leader negotiates the peace deal for the whole alliance, but he doesn't have to take all the spoils for himself.
Had you asked for provinces occupied by france, ownership of those would have gone to france and not to you. Otoh, you can take all the spoils for yourself if you want and I do agree, it's quite silly that the AI's share of a peace deal doesn't seem to have any effect on the relations between the winning countries. |

AH! Thanks for that mate, most helpful.
I wanted France to have some colonies in N.Africa so next time she would probably have troops already stationed there or alternatively be far more pro-active. |

Some other notes:
If your alliance completely occupies a country, your allies will almost always make a peace for themselves that gets them some very nice gains. It requires total victory, but this is a great way to quickly chew up a rival. Instead of the two or three provinces you usually take off him, your alliance will be grabbing six or seven all in one war. If you wear down your enemy (high war score, few troops and manpower left for him) and leave him like that long enough, there's a decent chance your allies will make it out with a province or two. But this takes patience. |
