The new dawn
a tale of a war waged on the sea, a tale of a man in that war

I am Isoroku Yamamoto, newly appointed admiral of the Carrier group center.
these following pages are my legasy, my work and my life.

First, my new command.

Carrier group center.

The two Soyer-Class Carriers (III)

IJN Akagi
IJN Kaga

The two Nagato-Class Battleships(III)

IJN Nagato
IJN Mutsu

The eight Nachi-Class Heavy Cruisers (III)

IJN Myoko, IJN Ashigara, IJN Atago, IJN Takao, IJN Chokai, IJN Maya,
IJN Nachi, IJN Haguru

The 2 brand new Mogami-Class Light Cruisers (IV)

IJN Mikuma
IJN Mogami

(this will be a battle report of each battle he encounters while i am playing the game)

We begin my tale at my first battle of what was to become the second world war.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

September the 5th, 1939, 09:00

Vladivostok Bay had been unusually quiet this morning, the bombing of the last night had left him with no doubt that the fortress the old enemy , the port of Vladivostok, had fallen.

Now began the tiresome task of waiting, waiting for the soviets to leave the gigantic port, come out into open waters and meet him in open waters...like god intended.

He stood upon his Flagship, IJN Nagato, gasing leveled at the the port, above him the swarms of planes from the Akagi and the Kaga delivered thier deadly cargo upon the port.
They would have to leave soon, no port in the world could withstand such a bombardment for long.

He had sent IJN Mogami ahead to scout the strength of the port, it had proven a difficult task pounding the docks with the massive twin 16" turrets, from the two battleships, but nevertheless, they would have to leave at some time.

Then it came, the message he had been waiting for, Mogami reports that the soviet fleet is moving.
Several Capital ships included.

For a moment Yamamoto froze, he had not expected Capital ships here. Perhaps it had been true what the spies had reported, the Kiev and the Minks moving south from the frozen ports of Ocha, these battleships could prove a minor inconvinence, but nevertheless battle was about to commence and he headed to the bridge, spewing orders at the communication officer.

Move the light cruisers away quickly, we will meet them with force as they leave the port, move the heavy cruisers out and flank them as they leave, keep four in reserve to meet persue any that should breach this blockade.

then it started, the kiev and the minks clearing the ports fortifications, they had moved south relocated to vladivostok.
The Young admiral smiled slightly as he saw the massive guns of the two battleships broadsides hit the kiev, 8 18' turrets, the kiev was ripped apart, this would be like shooting ducks locked in a very small box with no hope of escape..except down the barrel of the gun.

The minks took a heavy beating from the flanking Cruisers, but it was clear it could not stand the bombardment even from these lesser class ships.
Soon it also found itself hit by a torpedo from one of the carrier's aircrafts.

sadly, it got away, pounding its own 16'' turrets on the right flank, forcing the two cruisers there to make a hasty retreat, and the reserve force soon had to give up. the gap in the right flank soon proved to be a big problem as many ships made thier escape.

Though the reserve force soon catched up and sunk a enitre flotilla of transports and two destroyers.

Killscore.

IJN Nagato: Kiev battleship (III)

IJN Nachi:1 Destroyer
IJN Haguru:1 Destroyer
IJN Chokai:1 Transport Fleet

(this is my first AAR so bare with me)

Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd:
Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.
