Netherlands v Belgium

In particular, the treaty of London. Does it always fire at a set date, or can certain conditions be met to prevent it from fireing?
Basicly, is it possible for the Dutch to 'win' the Belgian indipendance war on their own terms without dragging in other major powers (saying NEE to the treaty brings Prussian support, but also British troops landing in your provinces)?
Or is it a lost cause, just accept the inevitable and focus on reabsorbing Belgium later?

Also, what is th exact date of the London treaty?

Edit: Thinking back, i've seen instances where the AI controlled Netherlands has actualy come out of this war with a respectable chunk of Belgium in its possesion, but not viewed the actual events closely. What is likely to have happened here?

Try to occupy Brussels quickly and you'll be able to get a white peace before the event fires, and that'll leave you in possession of Arlon and Liége. Who knows, you may even be able to get a province from Belgium in the peace if you do well enough.

Hmm, yes, being the capital it would sort of give you an edge on the negotiating table.

The London Treaty is mere luck for Belgium. Netherlands can make belgium their satellite, or white peace them, or continue fighting them. I think the best option is to continue fighting and annex Liege and Arlon so you get good reserves of coal and timber.

If you are playing the Netherlands choose continue war in the event, occupy as much as you can as fast as you can and sue for peace before the majors intervene.

It's nice to get two powerful allies that early in the game. It's always good to continue the war through the event, IMHO.
