Do you manage convoy yourself ?

I play allways with automatic option for managing convoy.

Bu i realise that i lost many convoys, whereas in the same time the AI keeps 185 nonaffected escorts in the reserve !!! (1.3b)

So, do you manage convoy yourself ?

I personally dont manage them myself. Just becomes too much of a bother when you start conquering North Africa(as Germany). If I loose convois however i allways have a Mid-Size DD Task Force ready to take care of those pesky Subs.

Question Try To But Not Much Point Anymore!

HOI 1 convoy setup was better for the personal touch, you could gather Resources or Supplies to one location and ship home from one central location with large escorting force. Not the same capability in HOI 2 and there is a Human hands on BUG that causes problems when you move Garrison Div. as the UK, for example to the Middle East area! Were you ship the Garrison Div. to becomes the new Resource or Supply Depot with no capability to access a set up to that location. Now supplies will be shipped to Alexandria and pulled then to new location but you can't ship home any of these Resources. This problem has been out there since version 1.0 and still there now with 1.3a!

Don't know about DD since I have no intention in buying the game! From the early forum postings to many BUGS and AI Issues still in both games! Also getting out of my time period that I bought the game for WWII!

O use hands on to ship supplies to areas I intend to build airports and harbours and AA. Works fine a little micromanaging can go a long way

Yes, if my nation's enemies threaten them, or I just don't have enough ships to let the AI play games with them. I have a fairly high tolerance for naval micromanagement and an extremely low one for having the AI not properly escort the convoys in most danger.

However, manual convoys may cause the extremely embarassing problem of forgetting to supply some off-screen island and having the garrison starve. I therefore turn on auto-convoys every so often to check.

Saves a lot of time (and sometimes ships) to let the AI create the convoy routes even if you normally handle their management yourself.

"Hell, I rarely read AARs at all, but yours caught my eye and since yesterday I've read it from the beginning. Awesome job! Top-class writing, good sense of humour and "humane" approach which shows, that pros also make mistakes, makes it a great read!" --Theocide
