Technically your richest province would become your capital but sometimes that doesn't happen or seem to happen...

Moscow only really acquired any serious pretence to the capital position already after the time CK finishes. If you still want to make it your capital, you have to give away all the provinces which are chosen to be the capital before Moscow.

Which means all provinces in Russia proper that have a higher income than Moskva...

You can, but everytime you save and reload the capital will move back again.

You could edit the base income of the Moskva province to be so high that it is always your wealthiest province.

You could edit other provinces near Moskva to have lower income in addition to balance it out.

If it counts for you as "moving the capital" that the symbol for your primary title appears on the map in Moskva rather than in Novgorod, then you can accomplish it by having your demesne provinces all inside the duchy of Moskva, and having one of those provinces be Moskva itself. I think.

This won't change the symbol itself, though.

It's not that all your demesne must be in Moskva in order for the symbol to move there, it's just that if they are then the desired result will come about.

The duchy of Moskva is exactly one province, that of Moskva

When in your demesne you have a province that is part of the default setup of your primary title, then your capital will be in that province. It is not always the richest, but it it also checks culture and religion.

I have seen a Armenian emperor of Byzantine, where the province of Byzantion was part of his demesne but it wasn't his capital, instead his capital was Adana, which had Armenian culture, while Byzantion was by far the richest.
