Blocking a convoy

Hi.
I play Russia, and I have set up a convoy from Mezen to Leningrad. Germany controls Copenhagen, but my supplies are still shipped to Leningrad. I guess I shouldn't complain, but shouldn't the german control of Copenhagen prevent a convoy from Mezen to Leningrad?

Convoys basically slip thru in the game despite your enemy controlling straits. It's all but impossible to eliminate convoys except thru attrition, and more convoys can always be built to overcome the attrition. I doubt that this is realistic, but that's how the game works.

If there is only a small passage the convoys have to get thru it's perfectly possible to starve the overseas troops.
For example when I was playing Britain I (with total naval superority - not hard against those puny axis navies) blocked the small shoreline of the italians on the balkans. I assigned a sub-fleet a whole (although outdated) Carrier Task Group and a stack of 8 naval bombers to do convoy raiding (with spotter leaders on the two fleets). Italy must have lost a good number of convoys, anyways when I hit the ground there the italians were out of supply most of the time.
Of course such a strategy can only be applied if you got enough forces you can spare!

Exactly. It should be easier when you donīt meet any resistance. But okay that it could be hard to block an entire coast (like in your case).
Itīs worse when itīs about one single isolated island with one tiny port... A crappy little cruiser would be able to block that port, if the enemy didnīt do anything about it.
This problem is becoming an obsession of mine. Sorry if people have seen me rabbling about this too much.

But I will keep doing it.

I played Italy last game, and I recall I had trouble convoying supplies to Ethiopia after the allies had control over the Suez channel. I was using auto-convoy then ...

I found out that it seems like convoys are blocked by enemy control of a passage. I cannot ship supplies from Sevastapol to Leningrad. This is the case for all passages EXCEPT Copenhagen. Could this be a bug?

More likely,it's because of the canal in Kiel. (in which case it *could* still be a bug, but that would explain the difference between Copenhagen and other similar passages)

john,
are you sure about this. i notice, if italy is in the axis at the start of ww2 then ethiopia will be out of supply. If the countries are at war the convoys will be blocked through straights/channels.

what i think is happening is that the convoys are going through the straight in kolding (yes kolding) germany needs to put a div in kolding to block this route. ie, there are two ways to get into and out of. through sea zones and through the land/straight. i suspect the convoys are going through this lesser known area to supply.
