Tears Of The Desert : An Algerian Doomsday AAR
Prologue, Part 1
![]() It was a extremely hot day in Algiers. But despite the heat, many Algerians were still out and about, doing thier daily rounds near the outdoor markets. Looking for fruit, fish, and other foods which they would need for the day or week. The sun left shadows, across the buildings, were many people leaned against the wall, or layed on it, to get out of the warm sun, which seemed to consume thier body, and soul. Engines were hear from the distance, many Algerians looked about, for where the noise was coming from. It was coming from the west part of town, the engines got closer, the Algerians looked curiously in the direction where the engines were coming from, 5 military jeeps apeared, along side, 2 armoured cars. The pulled up near the market place. ![]() A man poked his head outside the armoured car, he was wearing a hat, that resembled a can of food, but it had leaves and branches on it, possibly distinguishing the hat. A few men jumped out of the nearby jeeps, were wearing shorts, and tanned uniforms, some had sunglasses on, and all were carrying rifles with them. many of them walked around the streets. The Algerians continued thier business, as if these armed soldiers weren't there. They spoke to each other in a foriegn language. French. The French soldiers slowly walked about the area, talking to each other, some of them asked the locals a few questions, and held some conversations with the Algerians in French, and even in Arabic. A young kid about 7 years old was on the streets,, he saw the French soldiers and quickly ran into a building. In the building there were several men, cleaning rifles, and listening to the radio, which was brocasting the weather, in French. The young kid bursts into the room, A man with a moustash and glasses, angrly yelled "What do you want !?". The young kid replied, panting, "The French, they're here !". The man with the glasses yelled, "What !! Are you sure !!?" . The young kid, nodded quickly. The man with the glasses looked around quickly, and yelled "Alright !!, lets go, get into possitions !". The other men, loaded thier rifles, quickly checked them and got into possitions, many went out the back door and entered different buildings, around the area. Some crouched down hidding most of thier body behind, the stone buildings. The men waited for the signal to open fire... ![]() The leader, the man with the glasses, hid behind one of the smaller buildings, a prepared to fire his rifle, but instead, he pulled out a grenade from a pouch on the side of his pants. He pulled the pin and threw the grenade. It landed by a French soldier, he heard it land, and looked down. His eyes widend with fear, and he yelled with a tremble in his voice, "GREN..N..ADE !!". The grenade exploded with a ear piercing explosion. It killed 4 French soldiers, and 2 civilians. With the explosion, the Algerian men, fired upon the French soldiers. The French soldiers ran for cover, 2 were killed trying to get to it. A soldier made it to the armoured car. And opened fire on the buildings, manging to kill several of the Algerian Militia. Another milita, ran up the stairs to the second floor of a building, and set up an Anti-Tank Rifle. He fired 2 shots, taking out the Armoured car. The French soldiers lost more infantry and were forced to retreat out of the area. ![]() The Algerian militia chased them through the city, the militia knocked on other house, which turned out to be other area's, where militia were hidding out, they joined the militia, which started the attack on the French soldiers. The sun started to set slowly around the end of the day, a little later then usual, but the Algerian militia were happy, they managed to drive the French forces out of the city. And proved to the French that, the Algerian forces weren't messing around. The French prime minister got a mail from the French military forces in Algeria, describing what happend to the French forces there. The Primeminister wasn't to happy, he also recevied another letter from an unknown source, it was brown, and had arabic writting on the front of it. He opened it, it read in French, We Want Freedom...!

Can't help it if most of the nations that seem interesting, were once held by the French

LOL. Well the French did "leave" alot of places. For laughs go to google and put in "french millitary victories" (without the quotes) and press "I'm feeling lucky" EDIT: oops apperently they took that one out.

Prologue, Part 2
![]() The French high command wasn't to happy about the incident in Algiers, saying the only reason they military forces lost, is because they were distracted, were tired from marching, and were caught off guard by the militia, and weren’t prepared enough to fight of the surprising attack. The French politics found this somewhat hard to believe, as they knew that the French military didn’t want to admit that they lost a battle against a bunch of Algerian civilians, but what the French didn’t know, is that this rebellion was well organized, and was planned for months. The Algerian militia groups knew the streets and memorized areas of attack, and used ordinary civilians (mostly young kids) to point out the French patrols, and launch attacks on them. ![]() Algerian Militia plan an attack. The French military sent over 2 more divisions to North Africa, to fight off the Algerian militia, though the French didn’t want to sent 2 more divisions, as Germany’s aggressiveness was rising, and many French shivered at the though of another World War. And the French knew they wouldn’t be able to hold down to fronts, without trouble. But nonetheless the divisions arrived in North Africa, ready for an attempt to take back Algiers. This would be the third time in the last few weeks. The Algerian Militia secretly planned an attack on the French HQ, north of the town of Sidi Bel Abbes. It was located on the border of the desert, which would make it easier for the armies to take down the enemy soldiers, as there was no cover. The Algerian militia attacked the base on November 23rd, 1935. The battle was tough for the Algerian militia, the French forces, had set up garrisons around the base. Which had deployed machine gunners. But thanks to some helpful snipers, the Algerian militia, were able to break the machine gun lines, and managed to take the base, along with the town, they also captured several, French soldiers, who were interrogated for information. ![]() French soldiers train before the Algerian attack. The French were now on the run to the coastline, hoping to be backed up by the divisions that were promised, arrived during the battle. The French divisions were cornered, and running out of ammunition, and food. Many of the French soldier hid out in the town of Mostaganem, but as the militia studied the town as they trained weeks earlier, and knew where all the hiding spots were, and the town layout. The French managed to inflict heavy casualties on the militia, but the militia had numbers, which the French didn’t have, and that was their weakness. The next afternoon, the French divisions were surrendered and the survivors were captured. ![]() Hundreds of French captured by Algerian militia. The French Government was growing tired of this war; they knew that they could get their soldiers back, and be able to focus more on the Western front. They would have to give Algeria independence, and recognize them as a free nation, not a satellite one. The some of the French generals said that if they got more time to fight the Algerians and more troops, they could surely, defeat the rebellion, and bring the militia to their knees. But the Government wasn’t interested, and on January 3rd, gave independence to Algeria, along with the neighboring nation of Tunisia, as things were starting to heat up over there, and rebellion might start there also. ![]() The Algerian Government set up a Left Wing Radical Government, and proclaimed the nation of Algeria, the newest nation in the world, and requests were sent to join the League of Nations. The future looks bright for Algeria, and their new President, see’s Tunisia a thorn, in Algeria’s back….

A wise move by France to get out before they became too bogged down. That IC is going to be a problem.

Guys i dont think im going to continue this AAR, this nation has such low IC, i really cant do much. I dont have anywhere else to conquer, besides Tunisia, without being wiped out !, by the Allies or Axis. So due to bordem and whatnot im not going to continue this AAR. Sry for those interested in this AAR. I probably will write another AAR (if i can) using Fan Fiction, im going to try that writting style out.
