Weeee little armies

God am I annoyed by them. I am sieging a castle with my 8000 men and every two days I have to stop to kick that count's butt who comes back with his 20 men over and over again. Now it isn't as bad with a single count, but it gets REALLY annoying when there are like five of them.

This isn't realistic, can it be changed so you can attack an enemy if your army is atleast X% out of his. It takes hundreds of ducats and a lot of time to beat these little armies to death.

In such situations I split the sieging army to have a hundred or so men go to the province where the pesky army retreats to when you beat them. That way they won't bother with the siege.

But when you've only two regiments of 1000, 990, 980...720, as the attrition adds up...grrr.

They're harassing you with guerilla warfare. To beat them you'll have to detail a regiment or three to chase them down in their hideout -- AKA they province they keep retreating to.

Fighting guerillas ain't supposed to be fun, or easy.

When there a huge army is besieging a castle, has a camp around it etc. Then even if 40 men try pull guerella tactics, it won't stop the siege, infact, most of the army isn't going to notice it. I mean, the don't use C4 or anything.

The siege is you waiting for the castle to run out of food. Guerrillas can't neccesarily kill your whole damn army, but they can sneak food into the castle. Or poison your water. Or kidnap your wife, forcing you to break the siege long enough to get her back.

Keep in mind this is the ONLY way guerrilla tactics are represented in CK. After you take the castle you won't have to deal with William Wallace. Until you take the damn castle, tho, Sir William is a pain in your ass.

Those little armies do not represent guerrilla tactics, we can imagine and pretend, but it isn't like that. It is just an annoying WAD in my opinion, that's why I asked if it could be changed.

I doubt it.

To change it you'd need to either teach the AI how to fight better; or change AI behavior. Either way eats up coding time that CK don't have.

I've just had this: as Georgia I want to keep Byzantium weak so they don't feel tempted to claim back Crimea and Pontus from me. When most of Serbia rebelled against them I joined in with the object of destroying their capacity to wage war so they couldn't beat the rebels - the Byzantines kept attacking my 14000 men with armies of 36 or something ridiculous. The result was generally that my archers shot them all dead before a sword had been drawn.
