Mongols Crush Germany!

Playing as Aragon, things were going AWESOME. I'd thrown the Muslims out of Spain after they had a bloody civil war, Leon conquered Castille (upset special!), I conquered Navarre and Malorca, ate up some English provinces after crushing the English king at the battle of Viscaya, even took some possessions in the Holy Land, Alexandria (!!), Jaffa, Tyre, and Acre. Basically, things never go this well. My aging king then lives to be 89, his last 15 years being schitzophrenic and his last 5 being excommunicated. Then, a couple of Dukes simultaneously claim independence and I have to quell the rebellion. Then the Mongols come in. The Duke of Pallestine ends up at war with the Mongols who are right next door and I chose not to help because i was outnumbered 179,000 to 53,000. Then, I notice the Golden Horde is CRUSHING my allies HRE, and that NEVER happens. They've taken all but a couple counties out in Germany, and I just checked and they still have 124,000 men! Has anyone ever seen this sort of 'super Mongol' game? I'm seriously digging-in in Spain. Does anyone know where the Mongols will go after they take Germany? Are they gonna come after me or try to take Britain or what? I've never seen this before.

Thats not unheard of. Back in the day anyways. And all togeather possible for the Horde.

If you want a weaker horde try downloading the betas. But that still won't eliminate the chance that they will make germany their toy.

You should learn expanding faster..

Should be having all the North Africa (not the kingdom, but north of the continent), Iberia, Jerusalem, Mesopotamia, Persia before Mongols arrive, then you can beat them quite easy..

Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Pff. You can have the whole map before they appear if you start as a Kingdom.

Hey, CSK, don't scare him off.
Sure one can pwn the whole map, but it tends to be problematic with single-province KoAragon - almost the same as playing as independent county plus having a rather agressive neighbour with claim on you (on VH/F it's sometimes hard to survive early Navarra onslaught).

It's nice how different outcomes history can have in CK. But seriously I suggest that you try to unite few smaller kingdoms under your crown before Mongols have destroyed France. If you're big enough they might leave you alone. And when you are ready you can start liberating the Europe.

I doubt they'd leave you alone, so you better be stronger/smarter or be dead..

Another option is to be Irish, but that's not even half as good..

But all Rulers of the Spanish Kingdoms are more or less related to each other and you can get all if you just make it right. But it wasn't meant to scare him off. And Aragon is really one of the hardest Kingdoms.

Without cheats. But Aragon is in fact quite hard, it can be that you haven't conquered the world till the mongols come, still you can be strong enough to crush them.

Larger? I control 2/3rds of Spain! Those Muslims were damn hard to throw out! Not to mention my vassels have had 'questionable' loyalty. And what determines the piety penalty for the crusades? I'm losing about 4 piety per turn with my young king now, it was only about 2 before. Also, bad news, the Mongols have not attacked the French yet, they're mopping up the Enlish holdings in France, which will bring them right to me. About half of my vassels regiments can't be mobilized because they don't like me, and we're already depleted from our civil war anyways. Do the Mongols ever go into Italy?

Have you tried to pay them? Then you could rise their loyalty and use their men. And with which country did you start? You can get all of Spain, although with Aragon it may take till 1150. But then you would still have ca. hundred years to take on the world. You should have the area binTravkin mentioned when they come. And it should be possible that you take even more.
