I'm not responsible for any oddities that result from modding that semicolon-delimited delight. 2) Having said that... For this to work, place the .bmp image in the GFX/interface folder. Then modify the respective province's line in the province.csv to an "urban" terrain. Sorry, the province images are hard-coded to the urban terrain type. As much as I'd like for this to not be so, it doesn't seem like it's going to change. 3) Start up the game. This modification will affect the terrain type in all saved and new games. The Winrar file with all of the images, province list, and individual images are located here: http://www.esnips.com/web/HoI2-Province Final note: This is the limit of my modding abilities. Any further questions will probably be met with mild confusion and a shrugging of the shoulders on my part.

No, it just provides images for "urban" terrains. If I were to edit the province attributes I would have added 150-odd urban terrains in the game. I can assure you that would not be a popular position. People may pick and choose images as they see fit.
I hope that some day the province image will not be directly tied to a terrain type - but right now that's the way it is.

The ultimate picture packet would be to provide a unique province image for every land province in the game - or at least provide alternate images for terrain types (for example: a forest in Brazil does not look like a forest in Siberia, and the Appalachian Mountain Range looks nothing like the Himalaya Mountain Range) That in fact was the original intent (hence the provinces in the USA in areas that are clearly not urban).
Thank you for the Portuguese photos. As it stands, I might add a couple of provinces if pictures are provided. Most pressing are several provinces in South America, Canada, India and Japan. Optimally, images from 1936 work best. If not, images from 1930-1940 are better than non-war images from 1941-1946. Images from 1920-1929 will work if it's clear that the image provided doesn't include buildings that were torn down prior to the HoI2 time period. Images should be pre-war (no bomb damage, no formations of troops marching through the streets, etc.) and shouldn't look like a family tourist photo. Cityscapes are better than aerial shots - and famous structures work best to signify the sense of place.

In your search for these pics... did you come across any colour photos of any cities from that time? GIP is at the moment looking for colour photos of the major cities of that time (alternative would be to colourize them all)...
If you should have any such pics, could I then ask you to PM me? - Christensen (Head of the Graphic Improvement Project) Edit: oooh... and great work

I've already done the Hermansdenkmal for the Münster province, the Walhalla in Regensburg, and the Tannenburg monument in one of the East Prussian provinces (probably being moved to Königsberg). They're previewed in the 'Kaiserreich' thread (link below...), if you want to see...

To be honest I would just use Gloucester Cathedral for Bristol, since Bristol was in Gloucestershire at the time and doesn't have any (Not crap) landmarks.

(There was a whole discussion on Paris' lack of urban status about a week ago in the main HOI2 forum, which quickly flew off course and was banished to the history forums...)
