moving from HOI1 to HOI2

I've been reading here some, but obviously didn't absorb enough of the new strategies. I guess I was used to an AI with little teeth. I'm playing my first HOI2 game, as Germany, and it's almost laughable how miserably I'm doing. In terms of the land war, everything is basically ok, but I've totally failed in the air and naval wars. It's Dec. 1939 and my entire fleet is wiped out - I even lost my Baltic fleet to the Danish air force. In HOI1 I used to pretty much roam at will at sea. And the French and British air forces pretty much own the skies over the western front. HOI2 is definitely a different game. I guess I'll start over back at 1936 and take all arms of the military seriously.

In HoI2 you actually need an airforce, mostly to protect your navy. You could do without in Hoi1.
