Sino-Japanese War never goes historical?

In HOI2, if you understand the basics of the game, you can as japan ALWAYS beat up china, usually in around a year or less (starting from marco polo bridge). Obviously this is far from historical, and oddly enough - I don't think its the fault of the AI (which is a HUGE improvement from other Paradox games IMO, and plays pretty competantly).

So my question is - what forces are not being properly modelled in the game? Why was it so impossible for japan to conquer china in reality, but fairly easy in game?

Well, I think its the fact that you know that the war is comming and China doesn't. You can spend that first 1 and a half years getting your army ready for a war against China and pour nearly all your resources into it knowing that if you do it will only be a year and a bit before China is under your thumb and you can focus on the build up against the US.

Whereas real life Japan (and every other country for that matter) couldn't just ask all their factories to pump out infantry divisions for a year and a half. It also works out the other way round, most people playing as China can beat Japan into the sea within a few years.

In reality it was impossible because at least some Chinese commanders weren't braindead like HoI2 AI. Now, the AI is good at putting up an appearance of a good fight, but remember, the human always had the advantage of having a long-term strategic plan, however crappy it is. The AI is just reacting to circumstances.

Try to simulate the Japanese tactic in with many small landings and only the number of forces , japanese had in reality , and you will see the more in difficulties

Its the same discussion with Russia and Germany. In game you can beat russia in 6 month and what was with reality ?

Hoi is a game , not a history lesson
