The "A Song of Ice and Fire" MOD for Heart of Iron
Version - Beta 0.2
This is a beta version!!! Expect a lot of errors everywhere!!!

This MOD is based upon George R. R. Martins: "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. In my humble opinion the best fantasy series out there!

WARNING:
The background text and the MOD itself is filled with SPOILERS, so if you haven't read the books I suggest you do so before you continue reading.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
1. Make a copy of HOI2.
2. Delete all files in the following 3 folders of your new folder
/db/leaders
/db/minister
/db/tech/teams
3. Unzip the Installation file into your new folder.
4. Make sure that the files have ended in their correct subfolders
5. Play
6. Feedback

A CLASH OF KINGS BACKGROUND:
The Continent of Westeros is in turmoil. Yesterday the great king Robert Baratheon passed away as a result of a hunting Accident. Early this morning Eddard Stark pronounced Joffrey Roberts apparent son and heir the illegal spawn of Jaime Lannister and Cersei Lannister. Shortly after this Eddard Stark was arrested and put into jail, but Stannis Baratheon Robert's younger brother had already gotten the information. Renly Baratheon, the youngest of the Baratheon Brothers fled during the night to the Stormlands.The coming days the great houses will have to chose which king to back and thereby the fate of Westeros.
In the North the Nights Watch stands ever watchful on the Wall. Rumors of empty wildling villages are brewing and Mance Rayder appears to have succesfully crowned himself King beyond the Wall. Even stranger is the fact that experienced men have disappeared without trace in the haunted forest.

The MOD is based upon George R. R. Martin's work which of course is his copy-righted property. all Pictures included are made by the brilliant artist AMOK (many of the pictures in the MOD have been shrinked or modified, the original pictures can be found here "http://amoka.net/eng/gal/" ), they are his copyright but he has given us permission to use them for MODs. Westeros.org one of the best ASoIaF pages out there kindly granted me the permission to use Ms. Noreys coat of arms pictures. The unit sprites are from Crusader Kings released by Paradox Entertainment (but of course you knew that already ;-))

After you have played the game you will probably have noticed errors or have gotten ideas. Please post these so I can take care of them in the next versions

I have absolutely no clue about the series of novels that this mod is based on, but the graphics look very good!

Are you going to make a general interface change as well?

Hum, the north really should be made bigger, although i cant imagine how that should be done. In the book it is the same size as the entirety of the lands of the south, although about as wealthy as only one of the old kingdoms.

Unfortunately I am not that good at making graphics but I know a couple of people who can do that stuff. I any of you feel like making graphics please go ahead though as it has quite low priority with me.

Yeah, it should be. Actually when you play the game the north feels awfully large compared to some of the smaller kingdoms so it's not a big problem.

Ya know when i saw this thread I thought "How can Westeros be translated into HoI2?"

Then I had a look down and it looks really good.

Have you thought of adapting the CoAs of House Stark, House Baratheon, House Baratheon in the Isles, House Lannister, etc into Flags/Shields?

I certainly have. In my own little copy of the game I'm currently using the pictures/flags found on westeros.org but I haven't asked permission of the responsible artists for the use of their pictures in the mod and therefore I am not distributing them in the rar file. But they certainly would better them game if included. Thanks for the nice comments.

It looks very good, but I can't seem to download it. I get a 404 error. I've tried right-clicking and chosing Save Target As.

A friend of mine that manages the uploading of the file is just uploading a new version. It seems that I included old versions of the provincenames.csv and province.csv. This should be corrected in the new version that is estimated to be uploaded in 30 minutes time.

Yes and no, HOI2 is better at representing the diplomacy and the war part which is actually the main focus of the rather short timespan of the books.
CK is better at representing the dynastical structure and the individual characters. If you prefer CK then you might be interested in helping out with the ASoIaF mod for that game. Currently there is a bug that causes CTD after a couple of years. I haven't been able to find this bug myself so any help with that would be greatly appreciated.
But current my main focus is the HOI2 mod as I think it is (or at least has the potential to be) superior to the CK mod.

Good Idea. I'm including some events about the power struggle between Tyrion and Cersei in the next version and the one about imprisoning/assassinating pycelle will surely be one of them.
