A note arrives from Loic de Fourgéres:

Instead of drinking while we wait for the election results, why not hold a Natural Disaster Relief preparation exercise, maybe in Huntington, where this organization would distribute relief supplies to volunteers, who would drive say, halfway to Neuwestbaden, a site of a mock plane crash, where they could practice conducting triage and first aid? Volunteers from Neuwestbaden could play the roles of the 'victims'. Actual safety peronnel could observe and provide training afterwards back in those cities.

a letter arrives from the Eutopian National Trust
Quote:
Dear Director,

Thank you for your recent letter indicating your support of the National Trust. One purpose of our organization is to prevent our "national treasures" from leaving the country. It has come to our attention that a very special painting will most assuredly be lost to us if sufficient funds are not raised to match the bid of a foreign buyer. The Tissot painting has been in the same family since he painted it on his visit to Eutopia, when he came here from Paris due to the Franco-Prussian War and the Commune of Paris in 1871, before he left for London in 1872, as he was not able to get enough commissions here. This is the only painting that remains in Eutopia from his time here.

It is a very important work by this noted artist. It would certainly be a blow to our heritage if it were to leave Eutopia for a foreign collection. If Eutopia is to retain this piece, it is necessary to match the bid price of 10 million ducats within 6 months. If the Association for a Better Eutopia were interested in helping with the purchase, it would be most appreciated. Perhaps your organization could match whatever the National Trust raises, if we raise enough to actually purchase the painting.

Sincerely,

Dagmar FitzHerbert, Chairman
Eutopian National Trust
