NB: Not a proper mod yet! Some assembly required.
I notice a lot of people have wanted a byzantine mod, and in my own search all I've come up with are threads requesting one and nothing being done about it. I've just finished playing through a game of my own as the Byzantine Empire and have scripted a whole bunch of custom events, as well as using Green Beret's events that he posted in his Byzantine AAR to start me off (with some of my own modifications). I don't have the experience or ability to be able to turn it into an official mod, so I thought I would just put my events up for grabs and either let people piece it together themselves, or let someone turn into into a mod that everyone can use.
With all these I was using Dark Renown's All in One Mod and the latest 1.03c beta patch. Also, please note that these events were all written on the fly, some were circumstancial (i.e. the trigger is just a date, so will need fixing), and some I made just so things would go the way I wanted them to. These events are far from balanced, and probably have way too many positives and not enough negatives (but that's for you to decide. ) and some may be incomplete/not work correctly.
Adding the Byzantines and relations
For the following events to work you will need to add the following:
In... \victoria\db\events.txt
In ...\victoria\db\revolt.txt
In ...\victoria\db\country.csv
In ...\victoria\config\world_names.csv
Next...
Download byzantine.txt and place it in .../victoria/db/events
Download byz.zip; unzip it, rename byz.bmp to U00.bmp, make a copy of it and rename that to U00monarch.bmp; place in .../victoria/gfx/map/shields
Do the exact same with byz_flag.bmp, but put them in .../victoria/gfx/map/flags
Download BYZcommie.zip. Unzip; rename BYZcommie.bmp BYZcommie_flag.bmp to U00commie and place in their respective folders. Also, make four copies of each and rename them to: U09, U09monarch, U09commie and U09republic, placing them in their respective folders.
Download grebyzantine.zip. Unzip; rename grebyzantine.bmp and grebyzantine_flag.bmp to U00republic; place in respective folders.
Make copies of the four TUR flags and shields. Rename them all to U02.
Now...
You're set to go. You can play through it as I did if you don't want to edit it. Hope this helps, and I hope someone will make good use of my events and make a proper mod. Have fun!
