Memorial Service for Those Killed Fighting CORE in the WET
Moeslawn Cemetery, Farpoint
Christian, Muslim and Norse Pagan holy men preside over a sombere assembly as Farpoint residents gather to honor those killed in the Vallhalla Bar shoot-out and the subsequent fighting between CORE and Fapoint Police, military and citizen militias. Rain drums down from a grey sky, and dark-clothed mourners say goodbye to friends, comrades and loved ones. 'Amazing grace' is played by a bagpiper from the police funeral detail in honor of the fallen FPD officers. The names of those killed are read aloud, grouped by their faith, by their appropriate clergy. (OOC: I'm not sure how many people would have died in the fighting, nor do I know if I'm allowed to control NPC clergypersons and mourners for the ceremony. To avoid breaking the rules (and because I don't know the appropriate prayers/words for a muslim burial) I'll leave off here till I hear from the GMs))

At the back of the ceremony stands a Latin man in a leather coat, thankfully waterproofed, and a fedora hat. Pulling the collar up and the hat down in an effort to keep the rain off, he watches the ceremony intently, trying to feel out the local populace...particularly as to who would be a good, and willing, source of information about these C.O.R.E. rebels...

The A'Rai elder begins, saying in a near chant the names of those who had been buried seperately (like the other Topa) in the traditional grounds not far from Farpoint:
"Joseph A'Rai Frances A'Rai Champura A'Rai Eckeni A'Rai Ockhar A'Rai Rish'i A'Rai Pakia A'Rai" The wizened Kuravas elder takes up the litany of names "Pushan Kurava Kaidaan Kurava Kadeshi Kurava Manuel Kurava Jessie Kurava White" The Dravidasthas elder continued "Bearla Dravidas Estsel Dravidas Inidi Dravidas" The shaky Karalese elder croaks one name "Ediev Karala" The turn passes to Reverend Dullberg, who is uncharacteristically stiff with effort at keeping his composure while reading the dead from his Evangelic Christian Church of Farpoint: "Jeffrey Amundsen Jacob Audbry Frederick Mason Joshua Mason Peter Mason Angela Mosely Malcom Wallace George White Jebediah White Mervin Zachary" Debra Hoerning, pastor of the Farpoint Church of Eutopia (Anglican) begins: "John Brand Sheila Burnhold Alv Ealring Albert Finney Joyce Woods Erik Morgenstern Ulf Morgenstern Lawrence Polk James Roberts Gregorey Taylor Hilda Ulfide" Father Goodwell, of the St Brigid Catholic Church, reads the names of those who were at least nominal parishoners of his in the same tone he would lead the Lord's Prayer: "Brendan Brown Jesus del Toro Ristard Deaghaidh Harald Erikson Sven Johansen Colleen Martensen Johansen James LeBron Sister Maria Elizabeth Martenson Mark Martensen Stanley Martensen Sean O'Brien Erik Orcades Hubert Packertt Patrick Smith Johan Svengard Malcom Walsh Micheal Woltyjia" The youngest man, a tattooed thirtysomething wearing a Thors Hammer amulet recites the names of those from Farpoints burgeoning "Old Religion" community. "Njal Erikson Ulf Svensen Harald Svensen Lief Thorsbeard" As the man finishes, Erik silently sends a brief text message signal to a friend. Out in Farpoint harbor, small figures push a raft away from a fishing boat. Erik knows that they have lit a slow match to a floating pyre bearing the ashes of his elder brothers and their mutual friends. They had all grown disatisfied with their fathers vague, disinterested Christianity after his ruin and death, and he knew that this would be how they would want to be remembered. The mourners gathered into smaller circles for prayer, each to his own. The smallest stood, despite the rain, bare-headed staring at the burning raft in the harbour. The pagans began to pray "Lo, there do I see my father," they began, and Erik choked, remembering his fathers miserable final days, and reflecting that if he was right they were parted forever. My father would be most upset to find himself in Valhalla he thought, though Valhalla is for those who die bravely, not old cowards who down an entire bottle of painkillers and leave their sons to rot he thought, and hated himself for the thought. "... in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever." his fellows concluded their prayer, and squeezed Erik's shoulder one by one in show of support, and left him in peace. Erik watched the burning raft as the rain worsened. Wether the pyre was doused or the raft sunk he didn't know, but he lost it in the wind-blown curtains. Erik turned and tromped through the mud- quite ruining his one decent pair of pants- to his battered motorbike, and drove slowly and thoughtlessly down the hill into Farpoint. Ironically, he stopped in front of a bullet-ridden place called Valhalla, where the brave mourners were toasting their fallen OOC:At this point the thread is open to anyone remotely plausable to be in Farpoint to come and pay their respects at Valhalla. Remember that Topa are muslims and shouldn't be drinking (that doesn't mean they aren't ). From this point on all interaction with the clergypersons is through the usual GMs.

Konstantin Vilms, who was on his way to a meeting overseas, made a stop in Farpoint. He listened solemly to the service. Afterwords he solemly shook hands and exchanged quiet greetings with the Farpoint officials he knew, and the Topan leaders he had met before.

Erik recognizes the newcomer as a member of the royal guard society* and raises his glass to him.
"Hallo sir, to the Royal Guard, and the Health of your Queen!" Erik bellows loudly. He downs his shot of whiskey quickly and calls for another, though he rarely drinks hard licqour. *OOC: The Royal Guard Society, which IIRC you are/were a member of, fought with the Farpoint Militia against CORE. Even if you weren't there personally you would likely be wearing a badge of membership of some kind as you are dressed formally for a pseudo-wake and calling on community leaders.

Hearing the call, Vilms turns and lifts his glass.
"And to your fallen comrades, may their sacrifices be remembered." Vilms sips his drink, not being a heavy drinker. He approaches Erik and extends his hand. "Konstantin Vilms. I am sorry I could not be here to help in person when this tragedy occured. I was detained in the United States by the weather. It is a horrible waste, all these innocent men and women slaughtered by those butchers."

"We served 'em out. Two of theirs for every one of ours, more or less, in the end. Couldn't get any alive at the last stand though. We would have made them talk! No lawyers no Geneva Convention out in those woods, mate, just us savages butchering each other. I'd have done it myself. If I'd have to damn myself to get it all out of them, where they got their guns, who was helping them, if there were any more, well then that'd be just dandy by me. The cowards offed themselves, just like-" He stopped his angry venting before he spoke a thought that thinking turned his vision red.
"But at least its all over now. If they are out there they'd be fools to stick their noses out anywhere in sight of the mountains now. I only wish Ristard could have lived, he was born for these days, but they cut him down before he saw them." Erik lifted his next glass "To poor, tormented Deaghaidh, may all his mad plans come true after all, and all his nightmares fade away". He downed his whiskey quickly. "Guiness! That's what he would have had. He did have such nightmares, terrible cataclysms. The only time he didn't have them was when he was on the sea with us in our open boat. Ha, I still remember when he landed in a seaplane and started roaming around town, talking to anyone who'd hold still about how to fix it all. That was during the Hanson affair. We were watching the docks when he landed." Erik laughed hoarsely "Harald took an engineering class at FCC*, you know, and he read this thing on the internet when we wasn't working on account of the trouble in the Grand Banks with the French and all. Anyway he got it in his head to build this old-timey contraption, what did he call it? It was french, but I've lost it. Anyway it was one of those contraptions that flings things far and high. And we was going to use it to fling old Eds filthy stopped-up toilet over the fences on to the base! But the trouble was, the further we got, the more we wanted to fling, until in the end we were going to get a backhoe, dig up Eds septic tank and chuck the whole thing! But then we run out of wood, and the mayor heard bout it and came around, and said to leave off, cause otherwise he'd have to have us arrested. Then he said that if you flung that much s*** around, then you must be impersonating a government official!" He laughed hysterically, but mirthlessly, and pounded the table with a fist, disquised as mirth but really in rage, and grief, and disgust and biterness. Then he took a great gulp from his Guiness. *Farpoint Community College

After editing the page about the Fairpoint memorial service, Jonh Kenny heads there in his car, when he arrives he stays in silence, far away from the rest of the people, since his father's dead, he took the death of people in his own way

Vilms laughed nervously. He knew what the drunk meant, but felt that pointing out the siege weapon's name would not be the most prudent of plans at this moment.
"Here, I'll get you another drink. It was too bad we had to meet under these circumstances. I will do what I can to make sure this" Vilms paused and looked around. "Never happens again. Hopefully we will meet once more." With that Vilms called for another drink and made his escape slowly away.

Vicar Samuel N. Flanders sits at the front with other clergymen from all over Eutopia
May God bless their souls and may this poor island get some rest.

Erik suddenly starts from staring into his drink and begins to sing in a loud voice
"Look at the coffin, with golden handles Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead? Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry And always remember: The longer you live The sooner you'll bloody-well die Look at the flowers, all bloody withered Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead? Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry And always remember: The longer you live The sooner you'll bloody-well die Look at the mourners, bloody-great hypocrites Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead? Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry And always remember: The longer you live The sooner you'll bloody-well die Look at the preacher, a bloody-nice fellow Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead? Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry And always remember: The longer you live The sooner you'll bloody-well die Look at the widow, bloody-great female Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead? Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry And always remember: The longer you live The sooner you'll bloody-well die!"
