Many kingdoms, Independent dukes

Well, this is a mod for my SP gaming, but I thought I might want to share with those interested about it. The point in the mod is to make all creatable duchies on the map existing at start, with catholic rulers. So whole map is catholic. There won't be any kingdoms at start and kingdom layout is different as big kingdoms have been broken down in size and tiny kingdoms largened. Here's a map:

The kingdoms are named by their tags, here is a legend:
PAPA - Papal State, has moved into Iceland to get it out of way and make life easier for norwegians
IREL - Ireland
SCOT - Scotland
ENGL - England
WALE - Wales
FRAN - France
NAVA - Navarra
CAST - Castille
LEON - Leon
PORT - Portugal
ARAG - Aragon
BURG - Burgundy
U002 - Lorraine
GERM - Germany
U000 - Austria
SWI - Swiss (could use renaming)
VENI - Venice
ITAL - Italy
PISA - Pisa
NAPL - Naples
CROA - Croatia
SERB - Serbia
ACHA - Achaia
BULG - Bulgaria
VLAC - Vlachs (could use renaming)
HUNG - Hungary
BOHE - Bohemia
U001 - Prussia
DENM - Denmark
NORW - Norway
SWED - Sweden
SOUM - Suomi
ESTS - Eesti
LITH - Lithuania
POLA - Poland
VOLH - Volhynia (could use renaming)
MOSC - Moscow
NOSE - Novgorod
MURO - Murom-Ryazan (could use renaming)
CUMA - Cuman (could use renaming)
BOLG - Bolgar
GEOR - Georgia
TRAN - Transoxania
BASR - Basra
PERS - Persia
MESO - Mesopotamia
ALEP - Aleppo
TREB - Trebizond
RUMS - Rums (going to be renamed to Byzantium)
CILI - Cilicia (likely renamed to Armenia)
JERU - Jerusalem
SYRI - Syria
ARAB - Arabia
EGYP - Egypt
TUNI - Tunisia
NAFR - North Africa
MAUR - Mauretania

I might redo the map with tags more clearly visible if you don't get any sense of the map at all.

EDIT: DL here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...43#post4800043, more instructions in post #17.

Oh nice going, yay Prussia lol I already my my own little add into the game, I made the titel Kingdom of Prussia etc and gave it 8 area'S in order to get it, but you can claim the titel with 7, its more or less the same as what you got thier for Prussia, but you got more toward the West.

Tough the lack of other religions such as Orthodox Christians or Muslims or Pages takes away alot of fun, mayb you could make a few Dukes Duchy's in certain area' towards the middle east thier and Africa Area it be nice to see the Muslims.

Could be an intresting mod.

Well, the removal of orthodoxes was to put them on same line in religious matters as catholics. Removal of pagans and moslems is completely intentional, because I want to have whole map as playable area and I prefer fighting with nearby christians with the necessity to manage Badboy instead of going crusading always. There is enough crusading in normal scens.

I'd most definitely be playing this. It looks great! I also hate having the crusades, and I'm going to remove muslims, pagans and jews totally from my fantasy scenario. I also like having every nation playable.

Make sure wehen you do this modf, that the files and diffrantly named from the ones ingame, or have some thing liker provinces II or some thing and then in in another area were is put togather for scenarios to be geting the info the linking of them can also be separate or jsut name the files towards your mod like mine is for example this:

1066_Rise_of_the_Hohenzollern_Dynastie_scenario_ch aracters
1066_Rise_of_the_Hohenzollern_Dynastie_scenario_ti tles
etc
etc

and in an events folder I put a Culture Conversion file in and in the events file were all links are lsited like this:

Code:
#
#
# Crusader Kings Events Database
#
#

event = "db\events\Provincial_Structure_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Provincial_Conversion_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Global_Diseases_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Character_Health_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Character_Development_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Mongol_Invasion_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Religious_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Trait_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Papal_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Claims_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Crusader_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\templar_events.txt"
event = "db\events\mercenary_events.txt"
event = "db\events\Lordship_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\sin_events.txt"
event = "db\events\improvement_events.txt"
event = "db\events\battle_events.txt"
event = "db\events\bankruptcy_events.txt"
event = "db\events\province_power_events.txt"
event = "db\events\illness_events.txt"
event = "db\events\csc_events.txt"
event = "db\events\evil_events.txt"
event = "db\events\regency_events.txt"
event = "db\events\courtier_events.txt"
event = "db\events\marshal_events.txt"
event = "db\events\chancellor_events.txt"
event = "db\events\steward_events.txt"
event = "db\events\culture_conversion.txt"

# Advances
event = "db\events\advances_discovery.txt"
event = "db\events\advances_spread.txt"
As you can see you dont have to change your original game jsut have to think things through smartly that way you have the best of both world.

Well, I have to change some game files to get it work, like:
- provinces.csv, for the claimable areas
- dynasties.txt, for some additional dynasties
- character_names.csv, for more appropriate names for some cultures
- world_names.csv, for appropriate names for some tags
- country.csv, to get country entries right
- province_names.csv, for more appropriate province names in some places

Of course scenario files themselves don't need to overwrite anything.

yea but all those files you listed are in a sort of Database link system like the events one I showed, meaning you dont nessasarly have to change the oroginal files, just copy and past the opriginals out to desktop and use them as the alterd ones, and jsut rename them accordingly hehe and then add into the add it to the currant Database link system.

Well, afaik all the csv files are loaded by the exe itself, not the scenario, so unless there is some obvious database of CSVs somewhere (I haven't found any), I'll stick to backing up and changing the original CSVs.

Well now, I have all dukes in place. I changed kingdom of Cumans into a turkish kingdom of Khazaria, as I thought more turks could be in order (there were just Transoxania before) and cumans lacked names and dynasties...

While running a test run, Crusades did not start by 1096. I noticed that things tend to be slightly slow in motion due to lack of prestige at start (starting dukes had 100 gold, 100 prestige and 100 piety). I think I'll change starting scores to 500 gold, 500 prestige and 100 piety. That should speed things up a bit early on as AI dukes obviously fight each other if they just have claims.

Should there be some techs at start? Currently I have given only Hill Fort tech and improvement to all. Maybe basic weapons (Leather 1, Chain 1, Bow 1, Slashing 1, Piercing 1) and perhaps small castles for capitals?

I'll post the scenario for download soon, so you can try it out too.

Can you tell me if giving people that score makes the game go faster? I think that my mod feels a bit slow now that I have removed the pope and there are no excommunications.

Well, christians can't war each other without claims. In normal difficulty claim grabbing costs at minimum 150 per province and claim giving events are very rare. Also as counts and (most) dukes build prestige very slowly, it can be great pain to build up even 50 prestige (500 months for count with only monthly increase, 100 months for a duke with two count vassals) and as many claims cost more like 200-250 prestige per province, I am quite sure that inter-christian warfare early on will be greatly boosted with giving starting rulers 500 prestige for some claims at start. Later on as people have many children, they get prestige for marrying daughters off and from being given titles, so it's fine with later generations. Also as claims are inherited, that helps too.

EDIT: DL here: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...43#post4800043

First, take a backup of the following files:
- province.csv (in DB folder)
- country.csv (in DB folder)
- character_names.csv (in DB folder)
- dynasties.txt (in DB folder)
- world_names.csv (in Config folder)
- province_names.csv (in Config folder)

Unzip directly into the folder you have Crusader Kings in. The zip will have the six files mentioned in backup list above and the scenario files.

All of the files in the backup list are not necessary for the game to work. This is a list what each file will change so if you don't want that change, you can leave that file uninstalled.

Province.csv - Heart of the scen, necessary for the new kingdom setup, not absolutely necessary to install, but the scen is more or less pointless in many aspects without it
Country.csv - If you use the modded province file, use this too
Character_names.csv - Not necessary, but as I have used ugric baltics in the scenario, you can get Unnamed Infants without it. If you want to use your own already modded name list, you can copy the name list for finnish and ugric baltic cultures only from this to your version
dynasties.txt - Scenario won't work without this one
world_names.csv - You get User Defined Nations and Turkmens in Rome without this, highly recommended
province_names.csv - Localized province names for Estonia and Finland, not necessary, but adds flavour

Also there are some CoA changes you need to do. I didn't include them in the scenario zip because of size matters. Here is a quick guide to do it yourself:

- Go into CoA subfolder inside GFX folder
- Take backups of any bmps you would overwrite (marked with asterisk)
- Take a copy of OSTE.bmp and rename the copy to U000.bmp
- Take a copy of BRAN.bmp and rename the copy to U001.bmp
- Take a copy of LOLO.bmp and rename the copy to U002.bmp
- Take a copy of C333.bmp and rename the copy to TURK.bmp*
- Take a copy of BYZA.bmp and rename the copy to RUMS.bmp*
- Take a copy of FINL.bmp and rename the copy to SOUM.bmp*
- Take a copy of TAVA.bmp and rename the copy to FINL.bmp*

The phases marked with asterisks are not necessary for the scenario to work, but the do enhance the experience. You can also use a custom CoA for the U000, U001 and U002 tags if you like. They are kingdoms of Austria, Prussia and Lorraine respectively.

EDIT: Fixed some marriages, thanks Tombom.

Oops.

There are four bugged marriages actually, I noticed. Easy to fix though, when found. Replace this:
Code:
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 414 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 415 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 416 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 417 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 418 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 419 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 420 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 421 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
with this:
Code:
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 415 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 416 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 417 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 418 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 419 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 420 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
	marrige = {
		primary = { type = 10 id = 421 }
		secondary = { type = 10 id = 422 }
		startdate = { year = 1065 month = january day = 1 }
	}
in the manykings_relations.inc file.

EDIT: Also fixed in the currently downloadable version.

Apart from that, it is looking very interesting. What is a good country to pick to start with?
