Flora and Fauna of Eutopia
OOC: I thought this would be a good way to kill time while I'm in captivity
If someone wants to help out with scientific names I'd apreciate it. Some of these have already been created by the mods.Endemic Species of Eutopia Phosphorescent Fungi- This strange and unique fungus thrives in the cool, dank air of Eutopia's caves, particularly in the northern and western regions of the islands. Chemical processes cause the fungus to emmit an erie, milky white light. A freind of spelunkers since ancient times, mountain Topa tribes considered it a gift from the gods and said it was made up of stars buried under the mountains at the beginning of time. Topa Chewing Root - This plant has long been held to have medicinal properties and contains a mild muscle relaxant and pain reliever. It grows throughout Eutopia both wild and under human cultivation. Note to horticulturists: the importation of Topa Chewing Root is illegal in many countries, including the US. Eutopian Greywood- These evergreen trees are found mainly on the north-western slopes of the mountains, thriving in the cool, wet air. They can grow to staggering heights, though nowhere near the length or girth of their distant cousins the Sequoia. Eutopian Elk- These smaller cousins of the Ice Age Irish Elk survived the end of the ice age by adapting to have smaller antlers. Even so, their majestic antlers have been prized by hunters since humans first came to Eutopia. Long a staple of the Topa diet, overhunting and habitat destruction have made it virtually extinct outside of the forests of the WET. The advent of controls on sport hunting and more enviornmentally sound logging has led to a steady growth in numbers through the last half of the twentith century. Eutopian Black Wolf- Is actually a species of wild dog, not a true wolf, and can be either black, brown or grey. Believed to have been introduced along with humans, packs have roamed Eutopia for thousands of years. Considered a menace to livestock its been deliberetly eradicated from much of the Island, surviving mainly in more inaccessable mountain regions and the WET. Currently a protected species.

"Sir, we have collected specimens and can identify them as Eutopian Browns or, more technically, Eutopian Lowland Locusts.
The species is indigenous to Eutopia and while on the decline, is still abundant in some areas. However, it certainly should not be found in the areas around Eutopia City. More commonly they are found along the Baztan and Conder River valleys in Nueva Roja and New Lancaster respectively. A migration of this distance is possible, but hard to imagine why they would leave their habitat to settle over the MECT's office. Since you know so much about the flora and fauna of EUtopia you might be of help in this regard. What might have caused these locusts to migrate like this. Plus is it possible that they might be infected with this disease that has been afflicting the citizens of our fair island?

Yes, the endangered Tiger Mosquito
There's also the long-extinct Megaplatypus that left its fossil skeletons all over Jacobia

As for the locusts, their transit into the cities must be human-assisted. If they were migrating 'normally' they would havew left a swath of damaged crops leading into Eutopia City. Its fairly unlikely they would choose to go into a city with coparativly little plant life rather than make their way accross more rural, agricultural land, and even less likely that they would descend on an office building rather than a nice leafy park.
As far as carrying diseases go, while its not beyond the realm of possibilty, I'd have to say no. I don't know of a single known disease that is spread by Locusts, but I'm no medical expert.
