The first post for the new friday night game. The basics:

Game time: 9:00 pm EST, 6 pm PST, 3 am Germany. Starting next week, October the 24th. (note: We will play only 3 Fridays a month. The other Friday will be reserved for family, drunkness, or both.
What: 1492 scenario (most probably)
Where: Clans room
Host: The zippy Daedalus

Game rules:

1) We play every week, no matter who shows. This is to prevent the game from ending like the old one.
2) In a war, you may take no more than 3 provinces in Europe, or 5 outside Europe.
3) Keep alliances reasonable. No power playing.
4) No player may control more than 2 persian culture provinces.
5) Try to behave rationally for your country. Role play as much as possible.
6) Religion should be a major factor in decisions.
7) No map sharing
8) Everyone must play European countries (Russia and Ottomans included)
9) All 5 year truces must be honored. Vassalization of players must hold for 20 years.
10) The most dependable players will be given the majors: Austria, Spain, Russia, England, France, and the Ottomans.

my suggestion for Lethke given his choices and situation is that he be given Portugal to run if all main nations are present, then whenever one of the main nations is a no show let him have the option of running it for the nite... a sort of permanent sub.

as for how decides - like T says, it'll work out

I was under impression that we will not switch nations. If you are out we will have a sub or AI. It would prevent individuals from getting the bad idea of slowing "sub kingdom"progress.

for example:

Lethke plays Portugal and likes to colonize some territory in NA but is unable do to $$ war or something else.

Next session he takes over Spain or England and has a option of colonization. He maybe tempted not to colonize the territory in question because of the hope that next week he will do it with Portugal.

Poland-Russia or Austria is the same thing.

Lethke this is just a point I am making, I don't think you would do such a thing.

I would never do such a thing.

I'd send the AI Portugal money instead in the hopes that the AI will colonise it.

But i understand your concerns.

Anyway, if one of the "Big 4" doesn't show, I could sub for them.

Oh, the rule in Persia isn't just OE, it's ANY player.

and will be tardy.

I am back from my short vacation (mind you, it's monday 12:43AM and I still have to drive two hours to works .
I am, of course, in for the game. I think I have fixed my connection problem, but I will need a test run before the game (may be thursday night/friday morning) if anyone could help. Since no one has taking her first, I will offer my self to take england (again). My preferences are:

1) England
2) OE
3) Russia
4) Austria
5) Any other

Also I agree with lethke, no temporary country switching. I would love however to try a totally ramdom game, or a minor country one.May be next time.
