Portugal = EZ$, Austrian Inflation?, hodgepodge

Sorry im a posting maniac this morning. Tip for Portugal ---> you start with Cochin revealed. Ok ok its cheating but save/reload till you get colony there right off the bat. With a colony in south african area you can have a conq and army in india in a year from game start. One city in cochin and india is yours (although new patch just tweaked hyperbads army ACK) With luck you can grab some of Mysore's army when u annex and move on up to Hyperbad, Dehli, etc. Finish off the natives and colonize india at same time exploring indonesia and grabbing up those nice little islands of bali, cernam, tindore...etc. By 1700 i had maxxed out all research, had 20000 ducats in treasury, Level 6 fortresses, all improvements with manufactories in all cities. Brazil had all +5000 cities. When you control most of South Africa and India the other powers wont even be able to reach your spices and chinaware trade till naval tech advances. Oh be sure and grab all those islands first so they dont have anywhere to make a base (falkland, st helena, reunion, mahe). Game was sort of boring though at the end. One question on Austria for anyone who has played it a lot. What to do about inflation? Not taking money each month wont work cause of the gold mine and there arent enough provinces to keep building mayors like with the colonial empires? Is there anything that can be done?

I'm playing Austria right now, it's 1512 and inflation has stabilised at 2% with a very, very small yearly increase. I do not take any money at all, so the effect of the gold mine is neglible.

Regards,

EoE

That's your tip? Cheat? Jeesh, at least if you're gonna cheat do it properly. I had England conquer every single province in the world, save the six major capitals, by 1550.

this I dispute. You can CONTROL every province in the world on 1st Jan 1492 by cheating, but you can't CONQUER any of them - even under god rules, armies don't march that fast
