My policies again: (Anti-Military, Pluralism, Laissez Faire, Free Trade, Full Citizenship)

Also, a friendly reminder to Vote for a coalition! If we all band together against the Communistas, we will have power in numbers. Without a coalition, each of your dissparate parties have no hope to win. I am especially looking at you Republicanos, but also the liberales and FNT. All that is needed is one grand coalition election to break the tide, and then politics can return to usual.

Let us save Chile from the return to radicalism.

"President Fuentes condition has shown some slight improvement, but as he is still suffering from the effects of his heart attack, he has agreed that he is not fit to run for the Presidency at current, so I sadly announce his dropping out of the race, I will convey who he will support as soon as possible." stated Presidential Secretary Alejandro de Morreyan

It is with great sorrow that I here of Señor Fuentes' dropping out. He has been a hero of the 4th Republic since helping reclaim it from the Fascists, and a strong force of anti-radicalism (despite being a Communista).

It does not bode well that the party in power has lost their rock in the grounds of Democracy. Now it shall be easier for dreams of revolution to inhabit the minds of men (and women).

I hope the Presidente gets well, and I hope we can prevent the unilateral seizure of government by the radical communistas. I ask if there are any conservative Communistas around to consider joining the FNT, a Socialistic party which operates in the realm of Democracy, not radicalism.

And I hope my non-affiliation with the FNT helps to make my point objective.

de Cordova

I am sorry to hear about the Presidente's condition, and I wish him the best of health and recovery.

I again urge the socialistas to join together with us - even if not with Fuentes, who I understand may have been a more familiar and reassuring face of the party to other politicians - to bring about reform and caring government. We want to help the people of Chile, to answer our callings as elected representatives, and we can only do this together. There is no use in the radicalism of reactionary politics and calculating ignorance of the people's plight. Do not be swayed by the idea that leaving government up to the reactionaries and the rich politicians is the best means to later - in the unknown future "promised" to you by other politicians - work to better the lives of Chileans. They are no longer pawns to the ploys of "democratic" politicans. We are now their pawns, to best represent Chile and work for the workers.

We must seek bold and sensible reforms now. The storm is coming. The people overthrew the fascists and elected us to show their commitment - their dream - for freedom. Freedom from the curse of coups, secret police - freedom from class oppression and unfair poverty - freedom to live as Chileans deserve to live. We can squander our time here and ignore the people's cry - but we will face the storm of their anger. We can satisfy this dream, bring about this hope, right these wrongs. In doing so, the storm of the people brings only much needed rain - life and hope for the future.

I call upon all Liberals to join behind Admiral Palomino; not only has he a wealth of experience, both in the military and in the ministries, he also has solid support, true liberal ideals, and combined with the Republicanos, and possibly the FNT, the best chance of retaking the presidency from the communistas.

With my apologies to zagoroth for not updating his policies, note that the Liberales are currently in a Golden Vote scenario between Andonie and Palomino. I await the tiebreaking vote.

Also Note:
1) I'm having a lot of trouble accessing the forums.
2) I may not let the Republicanos Nacionales run this election because they only have one vote in the primary.

I must say it's bad news that Fuentes is stepping down and giving the radical crazies the control of the Communist Party. I don't like any Communist, but Fuentes was able to keep down the worst nutjobs in the group. Also the decline of the Rpublicanos after the Jingoist bastards left is worrying. Was the Fascists really a that large portion of the group? With both the Communists and the Fascists I fear for the good values of democracy, such as free trade, peace and economic prosperity.

Fair enough, Ill rescind my candidacy. I support Palomino for the candidacy, due to his position of Anti-Military.

Well, Admiral, I congratulate you on your victory in the primaries; let us hope I can say the same on election night!

And thank you for supporting the Admiral, Senor Cordova. Now I hope the Republicanos and Socialistas, at the moderates, will back Palomino against the hardline communists running.

Congratulations on your victory in the Primary. I wish you well and of course you have my support.

Carlos Andonie

I have to say, when I walked into the senate chamber to vote I had no clue it was a golden vote scenario. Certainly explains a few things.

Moving on though, I sincerely hope Palomino will have the power to draw broad support in his fight against the radical Communistos. We must retain Democracy for the people.

The 1926 Conventions
The 1926 campaign season marked the end of the Fuentes presidency. A month after suffering a heart attack, President Fuentes remained too unwell to campaign. Addressing the biggest radio audience in Chilean history, President Fuentes made a short address, recorded from his hospital bed, about his health and announced that he would be terminating his campaign for re-election. The famous broadcast then switched to an overwhelmed press secretary, who was barely able to take questions over the uproar even within the media in attendance. The announcement of Fuentes' de facto retirement from political life was cause for celebration, rather than mourning, throughout most of the electorate. The Liberales, Republicanos Nacionales, and FNT all saw it as a tremendous opportunity to retake the retake La Moneda, while the remainder of the politburo saw Fuentes as a moderate who had not meaningfully advanced the Communist agenda during his term of office.

The Republicanos Nacionales were quick to have their delusions of grandeur shattered. The fading romance and power of the fascist state, as well as years of peace in the southern hemisphere, had eroded the party's base of support despite the immigration boom. Sebastian Montenegro, the unopposed Republicanos Nacionales candidate, was unable to obtain enough signatures to stand on the ballot nationwide and was forced to drop from the race early.

By contrast, the Liberales surged in power following Fuentes' announcement. Seen as the natural opposition to the Comunistas, as the FNT was too close to the Comunistas politically and the Republicanos Nacionales now too emaciated to serve the roll, the Liberales began to recruit from a broad base opposed to the red threat. Moderate Republicanos who deserted the new fusion party shored up Liberal numbers before the primary. During the race, Palomino's fresh-faced anti-military populism struck a stark contrast to party elder Carlos Andonie's traditional appeals to the middle and upper classes. After a bruising contest between the two candidates, Pedro De Cordoba forced a floor fight and threw his support to Daniel Palomino, allowing him to defeat Andonie III and secure the nomination.

Liberal offers of alliance fell on deaf ears at the FNT convention, where late entrant Alejandro Farìas defeated Juan Rivera on the first ballot by a roughly 2-1 margin. Farìas opposed the coalition and declared that he would become the second socialist President in a famous convention speech, curbing unemployment, and keeping Chile out of another war at any cost. His famously pacifistic stance on the military bordered on unique in Chilean politics, as he disparaged even a defensive peacetime standing army as wasteful. Lastly, after Fuentes' retreat from the field, politburo member Julio Varde was nominated to replace Fuentes as the Comunista candidate. He advocated hardline communism and, in stark contrast to the FNT, large-scale expansion of the military. Commentators doubted that Varde could have the same appeal to voters that Fuentes' moderate stances had.

"I would like to take this time to restate my policies.

'Greetings, Chileans! I come before you, a humble man, to present to you my policies. They are as follows:

In terms of foreign affairs and the military, I am Anti-Military. The military is most definitely important for Chile, as it is for all nations, but I am truly surprised that not many other politicians have realized that one of the primary reasons for these constant coups, rebellions, and civil wars is for such a pro-military stance. By placing a huge portion of our budget on expanding and maintaining an unnecessarily and ridiculously large military, we increase the likelihood of a coup - and a successful one, at that - exponentially. The military is still an important factor of our sovereignty, but we cannot go on a spree of creating weapons and artillery and using it as an excuse to retain our freedom and independence. The navy, however, will receive a priority to keep our shores safe, as we have no true enemies on the South American continent.

When it comes to the economy, I am pro-Laissez-Faire and Free Trade. Chile is renowned worldwide for our free market that has brought innumerable amounts of prosperity to her people and the other nations of the world. Chile's economy is a trading hub for some of the world's rarest materials, brought here by the businessmen, traders, pioneers, and farmers of this great nation. The government is not required to build and guide our factories - our people know what to do. And what is more, we need no tariffs to give us the edge over foreign competitors. Chile is a free nation of thought and equality - we shall not become a nation of greedy ultra-capitalistic nationalists.

With religion, I am a Secularist. Democracies the world over - and in no way excluding Chile - are famed for their freedom of speech, petitioning, the press, and, most importantly, the freedom of religion. Be you Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, even Buddhist, Chile is home to all, and home to you.

In citizenship, I am pro-Full Citizenship. Chile is a democracy of the people, by the people, and for the people. The immigrants that flow into our nation daily fuel our economy, further diversify our nation with such a rich collection of cultures from the world over, and these people are the epitome of the great Chilean citizen. An immigrant of one year deserves as many rights as a man whose family has been Chilean for close to a century.

The government need not have a large part in the life of any Chilean. Despite the key right of a man of Chile and democracy to vote, the government they participate in must be limited to the fullest extent.

I shall see you all at the polls, people of Chile!'

I would also like to include a portrait of myself to be included on all campaign posters, of me in Admiral's uniform:

Pacifism/Secularism/State Capitalism/Free Trade/Full Citizenship [3+2+0+1+2=8]

Free Trade: Tariffs will just hurt the economy, worsening the worker's living condition.
State Capitalism: State control is necessary in order to introduce effective social reforms and to improve the worker's condition.
Secularism: Church and State must be separated. Every religion is equal before the state.
Pacifism: The World has seen too much bloodshed! It's time to refuse war and militarism!
Full Citizenship: Chile is a nation of immigrants and they deserve the same rights of every chilean citizen.

Jingoism/Atheism/Planned Economy/Protectionism/Limited Citizenship [0+3+3+0+1=7]

My policies are Protectionism/Planned Economy/atheism/Limited Citizenship/Jingoism

Protectionism because should we ever allow the masses to trade with capitalists, we will fall back into their oppression.

Planned Economy because all factories must be worker controlled, and the only way to do this is through the government seizing factories and giving them to the workers.

Atheism because it is not enough to simply ignore religion, it must be driven utterly from the masses minds, so instead of attacking those of different beliefs, the masses will instead turn their attention the defeat of world wide capitalism.

Limited citizenship because all who wish for true equality should be welcomed into Chile. However, opening our gates to immigrants from capitalist nations is the same as trading with them, thus, we must be careful.

Jingoism because everywhere the masses armies will go to defeat the capitalists! There will not be a single enemy left to the masses by the end of my term!

VOTE! I need your vote for Palomino, Farìas, or Varde. If you vote by party, I will pair your vote to the corresponding ticket.

As always, remember to bold your votes or they might not be counted.

If you're a candidate and you want to change your platform or picture from the above, just let me know. I've started to get creative with the pictures.

A sample ballot would look like:
President: Palomino/Farìas/Varde

This poll will end at 10:00 AM PST on the 30th(two days).

My apologies for the late updates these last few days. I've been having trouble accessing the Paradox forums for some reason, so bear with me.

For Presidente, I support - the people.

As Minister of the Interior, I have watched as the reactionary politicians - clinging to their power and money despite the will of the people - have attempted to cripple any truly democratic government. Any government of the people, of the free and fair will of the common man, has been strangled by the forces of reaction. Unprecedented laws, corruption, political stonewalling - the people demand reforms, and politicians give them nothing.

As Minister of the Interior, I declare the present government void on the basis of failing its role given to it by the people in the Constitution and formation of government after the fascists were deposed. It has not represented the will of the people, being instead diverted by petty politics. It has not cared for the Chileans, ignoring their plight in the streets for the favor of a few. It has not upheld justice and humanity for the Chilean worker.

I call upon the Chilean people and all their true representatives to join me in Santiago to form a new government which can better serve its people. A government formed not from the partisan politics of the old era - as was the flaw of our latest Republic, tainted by the representatives of the unelected "free state" - but by popular consensus and democracy. An empire not of politicians, but of humanity. A monarchy of the common man. A dictatorship of the proletariat.

I ask Presidente Fuentes, who was elected by the people to bring about such reforms, to take leadership of the constitutional convention and the new Democratic Chilean Republic, if he is well enough to do so. He will be the Chairman, a position of coordination between the officials of government and the Chilean Executive Committee of People's Congress - a Congress not of partisan bickering, but of the people's democratic will.

We will select from the true representatives of the people all further roles in government at the convention, asking the Chilean people for their choice in who will head our government and take care of the various ministries of government.

To those who would wish to serve the Chilean people, be swift and join us. We invite all to work together with us in forming this new government and following the people's will. We want to extend reform and freedom for the Chilean people, the old ideals of the socialistas and the supposed ideals of many other parties. The people will welcome you, and I and my comrades will also welcome your assistance and your work beside us in this new government.

To those who would continue the patterns of corruption, we will defeat you. The people of Chile threw off the last of your disguises - even against the great might of the fascist army. How can you expect to continue to defeat the brave Chilean people now, when you have no such army to hide behind? We do not seek retribution, but the army and true representatives of Chile will defend the people and their will as needed.

This is a coup. Our goals are:
- Government change to Proletarian Dictatorship.
- Ending of the partisan political system and its corruption.
- Social reforms.
