Considering the size of the Partido Socialista, I find that having the party split already somewhat ridiculous. Especially since both nominees have the same set of policies. I therefore shall withdraw my candidacy, and I hope that my comrade will be able to succeed, even though I doubt any of our chances. I also propose that the name of our party be changed to "Federación Nacional de Trabajadores" (FNT)

Party: Socialistas
Candidate: Carnal
Reforms: Universal & All Allowed

((Is it just me or are the policies of the Republican party's candidates eerily similar? You know what, change my stance on tariffs to Protectionism so as to not be identical to the Admiral.))

Reform: I support reforming to Non-secret Ballots first and foremost. Expanding the voting franchise will do no good if the ruling party can simply utilise gerrymandering to get re-elected. However, I also support Universal Franchise and All Unions Allowed.

I promise the people of Chile that if I am elected I will first and foremost focus the resources of the state on ensuring economic prosperity. My secondary focus will be to establish a navy to protect our waters from pirates and similar scum. On the other hand, we have no need for an expanded army. We are already the most strongest state militarily in the Americas. I will however make a slight, but important change. I will reassign what I deem a sufficient part of the military to guard Santiago so as to prevent a coup d'etat.

- Sérgio Gogołów

You propose to have an army near Santiago. What if that army is loyal to a coup attempt?

((The Capital stack is always loyal to the government and will never support a coup. It's kinda been said a number of times.))

Party: Republicanos
Candidate: de Santa Rosa
Reform: Universal franchise

May we see once more the banner of a free market dominating Chilean political thought!

- P.G. Subercaseaux

Thank you Senors Subercaseauz and Aragon! Let us move forward and make Chile a freer, stronger nation!

I believe Senor Gogolow has only the best of intentions; the capital does need to be defended, and a small garrison would go a long way in ensuring the Republic can hold together.

As the creator of the Radicales I considered agitation. But I won't do so this time, I want to see how far we can get with dialogue.

Party: Radicales
Candidate: Antonio de Santa Rosa
Reform: Universal and non-secret ballors

Why Antonio de Santa Rosa? Because he supports Laissez-faire

Again, I thank all my supporters! If we keep this up, Chile will have five more years of free markets, reform, limited government, and (hopefully) prosperity!

Again, I must thank my supporters for the support I have been given. If you elect me, and of course my policies to put Chile first, we will have unbridled prosperity never before seen. This is the path that we must take, and I will see to it that Chile shall take that path

-Armin Tamzarian

I notice many socialists are afraid of a liberal coup. It is quite funny because this "coup" has already happened and we are living in it. Yes, a "coup" by the military to restore our democracy and establish a republic. Why would the military want to "coup" again so soon?

You misunderstand us. We do not worry about a coup by liberals. They at least want a democracy. It is the reactionary elements of our nation that we are concerned about. They succeeded ten years ago. Not the liberals. We simply want to ensure that the army will fight on the borders of Chile, not in its heartlands.

The only amendment I wish to make to this "Capital army" suggestion is that only reliable commanders be put in charge. What defines a reliable commander will be decided later.

That is certainly not an unreasonable request, Senor Galante. We must always remember that this republic of ours is fragile. and must be protected. We cannot vest absolute power in any one man, and I find that all sides seem to favour weakening such a powerful institution from entrenching itself.

I'd like to reiterate what Loki said - don't fight OOC. And now here's where we are.

And for the last time, guys, AGITATORS CANNOT VOTE. Those individuals agitating, please stop voting.

Republicanos:
Antonio de Santa Rosa ((Riccardo93)): 3
Gabriel Alvarez ((Gloa)):
Armin Tamzarian ((hoi2geek)): 2
Sérgio Gogołów ((Dyranum)):
Carlos Andonie ((rudders10)):

Socialistas:
Carlos Carnal, ((Red Cesar)), is the Socialist nominee as his opponent has withdrawn from the race to avoid splitting the ticket.

Reforms:
Universal Franchise: 8
All Unions: 6
Non-Secret Ballots: 2
No Reforms: 2
Total: 11

((Um, hello? The Capital Stack isn't supposed to have a leader according to the rules, IIRC. What are y'all yacking about?
EDIT: Also, who's been fighting OOC? I haven't noticed any on this page.))

((Um, hello? The Capital Stack isn't supposed to have a leader according to the rules, IIRC. What are y'all yacking about?))

That's quite right. The Capital Stack doesn't have a leader, but if he just wants to post a regular army with a general in the capital, he can do that too.

((Ah, okay. Was a bit confused. Such an army won't be effective in its purpose...))

((have just noted that I am down as Interventionist in your update. I have stated always in my comments that I am Laissez Faire and decry interventioism))

To those who voted for De Santa Rosa based on this, I hope it is not too late to reconsider?
