Egads, if you guys suggest different winds/weather conditions Kamikaze's bound to come up...

Oh, how about 'ESN Transient Atmospheric Phenomenon'

ESN Turbulence, ESN Windy, ESN Bit Chilly Outside

Never before has this AAR had more activity than this, the naming of the GPD frigates.

There must be at least one ESN Blizzard (ESN Snowstorm being an acceptable though less cool substitute).

Please make me a character and place me on the ESN Partly Cloudy with a Thirty Percent Chance Of Rain!

Also, I add "Cloudburst" to the list of names.

ESN British Summer is required. Seeing as its spent the past 4 days raining non-stop here.

We have an ESN Totally Pissed Off, or something to that effect, so I'm all for an ESN PCwaTPCoR (if it fits).

Good to see my discoveries in the Procyon system are starting to pay off, nearly two decades later. It'll be nice to have both resources and finances under control, with research accelerating.

Nothing wrong with ESN Partly Cloudy with a Thirty Percent Chance of Rain. Has a certain Iain M. Banks feel to it.

Some Scottish additions: ESN Dreech, ESN Buckitingdoon and ESN Pishingdoon.

Aye.

 Dang Robots destroyed one of the Maintenance Facilities that I'd dug up on El Dorado. Counter-attacking now.

who is leading the ground forces on El Dorado?

Our allies have given us two techs on the same turn... Particle Beam Strength 3 from the Seals, and Particle Beam Strength 6 from the Charlies.

Darkrenown is promoted to Captain and placed in charge of the ESN Partly Cloudy with a Thitry Percent Chance of Rain.

Could I have my ship renamed Naddoddur?

Only merchant ships can be renamed freely... military ships are supposed to choose a name within their class-type; in this case: storms and weather. Kamikaze would work, or Khamsin. Both are winds. Naddadd was an explorer, though. His name would have worked better for a scout.

The reason that I prefer to keep military ships named within their class is that text reports pop up on the screen during play, and if I get a report mentioning "ESN Typhoon", I will know immediately that it concerns a Storm class GPD Frigate, while a report mentioning "ESN Medway" concerns a Battle class Heavy Cruiser. With nearly a hundred ships, and hundreds more expected before the end of the game, I need to stay at least partly organized.

Are we giving the Charlies and Seals all these techs we discover in El Dorado?

I think I missed the part where the Seals were tech-sharing. I think it proves the concept of a galactic federation though (led by us, of course). We just need to specialise in a few fields, and the others can pick up the slack in other areas. We haven't paid much attention to offensive beams, but our allies will make sure we aren't too far behind. The only catch will be making sure we remain the dominant force, by expanding as quickly as possible.

Cool... The next level (strength 9) is where particle beams start being useful.

Boris ze Spider is promoted to Captain and placed in command of Wasp-X FAC #3. Captain Count Lake II commands #1, and Captain Stamasd commands #2. Still 12 more to distribute.

Cool, I get to play with soap bubbles and get vaporized.

For reference, I tried armoring one of my FAC designs. On a 800t ship, 5 layers of armor don't do much. Got pulverized by 3 strength-6 missiles.

BTW, is there a naming theme for FACs already? I haven't noticed one.
