he can only hold france "forever" if he can atleast draw away a substantial amount of troops to another front ( italy imo )

you dont want both the SU and germany concentrating on 1 front only

also keep on building subs its the best strategy for now

especially if canada falls you will need them close on the US coastline to keep an eye on US reinforcements to there commie brothers

actually youre facing the same difficulties then nazi-germany when the US joined and that is very intresting to see. especially cause you have far lesser troops then germany had. and you dont have any room to face a strategical defeat

Excellent to see the discussion mounting, good to see your oppinions.

My plan as of now you may not like [i will speak more of it in further updates]

1. Hold Italy at all costs, Germany has sent a large ammount of men there and while we cannot win every battle i am confident we can stay on the mainland and frustrate the Germans.

2. I am just plain unwilling to give up on my German front, in my oppinion they will NEED to drive me into the sea before i give up the land i have taken!
Now im a WW2 nut myself and i understand the points you have brought up and yes if i am driven back so much that defeat is inevitable [defeats and sent back to the original landing zones] then definently i will retreat back to Britain. I just feel to many men have died in Germany already to just give up on either front.

3. The plan from day one has always been "take as much as possible and wait for Germany to bring Belgium and the Netherlands into this war" and i am still sitting waiting for that to happen. If/when it does happen France can send men onto Germany along with the Netherlands and Belgium, even if they hold land my troops are currently holding it would be a benefit as it would free up my troops to continue the offensive.

4. I think i am quite good at Hoi2 but even i dont think im going to be annexing Germany any time soon, with further reinforcements i think things will start to happen. Until then im going to hold on and strike where i can and i am aware of the fact that come the next update i could be telling you of a massive Communist counteroffensive that has left me reeling.

5. Thanks for reading :)

"Fortune Favours The Bold"

Good news! [That is always a nice way to begin one of my reports] O'Connor made it to Germany, it took numerous trips but under the watchful eye of our submarines we now have a further seven divisions in Germany including an HQ.

O'Connors Army is Broken up and Given Temporary Commands for the Numerous Trips to Germany due to our Lack of Available Transports. The Trips are Escorted by our Submarines.

Only one Division to go as O'Connor Waits in Germany

I have also attached a Navy Comparison for you to review, it shows the estimated naval strength of the world in comparison to our own.

The Navies of the World

Is Our War Winnable?

This is a question Parliament and our people seem to be asking and i hear it all to frequently. What is my oppinion? If the Communists really wanted to they could launch massive offensives after i finish my morning toast and there is not a damn thing we could do to stop them. However, for whatever reason they have not and this is the advantage we have- Soviet troops are currently fighting in Asia against Japan and in the Middle East against our hard Persian Allies who have not ceded an inch of ground. On top of this Germany and the Soviets are fighting in Italy while trying to hold a front as big as we are. Our advance into Germany has been gutsy and perhaps some would say wreckless but look at the reults! We have lost divisions yes but as this report will go on to show...so has the Commintern. The cold hard facts show Germany has lost a quarter [perhaps more] of her country and have failed to do anything about it, do not mistake these facts for arrogance on our part as we are anything but and are fully aware [as stated earlier] that the Communists could crush us if they used the bulk of their forces.
The fighting in Italy has stalled and we are outnumbered...so whats new? We have been outnumbered since day one and we refuse to cede ground British troops have died to gain to anybody. By having those twelve divisions in Italy the Communists have been forced to send divisions there to hold us at bay and in doing so have taken a large number of troops from other fronts where they could be causing us a massive headache.
Our Brave Yugoslavian allies have fought like lions and we wish we could aid them but at this stage we cannot reach them and in a strange way we may be inadvertantly aiding them due to our mere presence in Germany. They have taken a Germany province [that was empty] and have minimal forces opposing them from doing it again, why? Why because the communist forces are trying to stop us. Should we be pushed back yes we ill retreat to Britain but dammit the Communists will need to fight and die themselves before we even think of retreat.
And i think they know that.

Italy

Here is our Objective in Italy [objective being the key word, our ability to complete it with current forces is questionable]. The gold area show Florence and Rimini and this is our objective, we must reach these provinces and occupy them for Britain. You will notice these two provinces sit side by side, going back to one of our original reports we said we desire to go "up the boot" of italy keeping the line straight well as you can see the red area has becoome a real problem. The Communist troops are on problem but the fact there are three provinces in this are has brought our advance to a standstill as we have insufficient troops to bot hold the line and hold the German troops in Palermo. We will find a way. More will come in future reports.

Germany

Lubeck was the scene where we captured one full Soviet division and two Germany garrison divisions who, after seeing the Soviet division captured decided to land in Lubeck a few hours later resulting in their swift defeat and capture aswell.

The First Photo is of the German Garrison divisions [complete with 2 Police Brigades] Being Captured, the Last two Photos are of the Soviet Division Being Captured

To close this Update here is a picture of the men who will be arriving in Germany very shortly:

Motorized Infantry Heading for Ships

Way to go. It seems (By the way I like the DS9 episode names) that you are in a good situation by the sound of it. In one of those pictures it looked like France was being attacked on the maginot line? Anyway the point is, the tide will turn in your favour eventully if you keep building Motorized Divisions. I like keeping the German Front open, if you could open the Buffer zone you wanted the Campaign would be an overwhelming sucsess. You also have a point about how you can't retreat in Germany before you are defeated. It would be admitting Defeat, and just a terrible Idea. Looks like Lubeck is a problem for you? I might consider driving on Berlin also, but it would be a risk and if it failed you might end up encircled and lose prescious divisions. The point is, you have to hold ground in both places, but you will need alot more men to sustain a breathrough on 2 fronts. By the way, has Malaysia held back the Japanese tide?

Im glad you asked about Malaysia, i had two divisions on the indian coast and i found two transports on the other side of india so i have sent them around to the east to meet my two infantry divisions. I intend on shippping them to Malaysia to help out- finding those ships was fortunate eh?

Lubeck isnt so much a problem as i was letting the enemy get into it so i could cut them off and capture them, i was just shocked to see Germany try a landing there with garrison divisions! I am actually considering Berlin myself however i want to go through Germany anticlockwise [Netherlands>Belgium> etc] so i can protect my allies. My next big target is leipzig [and hopefully i will be telling you of its capture in my next update once those new divisions arrive] and then i will take the provinces close to Berlin.

Hopefully ;)

Thanks for reading

well i dont like the idea of you holding on the german front but i do have to admit you have balls by risking a dunkirk scenario

:D
Thanks

I just cant retreat back after making so much progress

The soviets are in Germany yes they are also in Italy, i have been in combat with quite a few Soviet units.

Perhaps those reinforcements could go to Yugoslavia?

Can't wait for next update!

I agree with you not being able to retreat after so much Progress, but if France doesn't help soon, your brave troops may be butchered. Of course you know all that. How to prevent it? I have some options i'm sure you would have considered, but they may prove useful.
1. Greece: Increase the pressure on Romania, Bulgaria and Germany. Greece is the key for you not having to help Yugoslavia. Adding Armies to the War there would mean Yugoslavia would hold forever.
2. When possible Argentina: Argentina would give you immediate dominance of South America, invaluable for your war effort.'
3. Switzerland if possible: They would be invaluable once again to your war effort. They are in an unbeatable position with those mountains so consider it big time.

Good Luck, and may you begin to shift the tide in the ULTIMATE WAR!

I have actually been wanting Greece in my alliance for ages however their policies wont allow it, so i have been praying someone will declare war on them. :(

Interesting though about Switzerland though hmmm

The Battle for Leipzig

This battle could be a key part of the war. The Victor of this momentus battle may be destined for victory in this Epic war between our countries.

Leipzig has an area of 297.60 km² and a large population, she is a historic city and it would be a great coup for us to add her to our list of conquests.

The Battle began on 8th March 1940 at 18:00 and all hell broke loose.
We were aware that the capture of Leipzig would be the key we needed to the richest prize of all....Berlin. With her capture we could deliver yet another blow to the Communists and further shake the confidence in Communism that the German people have had for so long.

Our Motorized divisions had landed in Germany and were immediatly ordered to proceed to British controlled provinces surrounding Leipzig which they did with great haste. They arrived soon after General O'Connor arrived, the victorious forces in Lubeck were on their way to a neighbouring province and all was set for one of the largest Offensives in history.....and so it began.

The Battle Begins

The fighting was intense although it was clear the fight was going in our favour, both Generals and their supporting armies fought valiantly and were rewarded:

Victory! The Defenders of Leipzig are Defeated

Despite our victory we were aware that the Communists wouldnt give up Leipzig so easily and we were not surprised to see mass numbers of divisions advancing on Leipzig in an attempt to hold her.

German Defenders, Intent on Holding on to Their Famous City Fight Furiously

Eight days later, after heavy fighting we arrived in Leipzig, Victorious! Although the Communists had other ideas...as we expected

Our First Troops to Arrive in Leipzig are Shown no Mercy and are Engaged

Defeat! Our Troops are Vacated From Leipzig, in our eagerness to gain Leipzig we did not Order a Synchronized Arrival and Paid the Price

All was not lost though as we still had O'Connor plus a smaller army of three divisions advancing on Leipzig who are due to arrive on the twentieth of March:

Another Glorious Victory! Can we Hold Leipzig?

This is a very tense time, in mere days our armies will arrive in Leipzig. If they are defeated all of this may have been for nothing....however if they can hold the city then Berlin will have come one large step closer...to being captured. Also we have had some other excellent news which you will recieve in the next status report.

Hmm I am wondering why combined German-Soviet army is so small, you even outnumber it, anyway good luck in you struggle :)

In fairness to the AI they have men on many different fronts, they outnumber me greatly.

Your advance continues, nothing seems to be able to stand in your way. Next Schweifenart, and then the Siefgred Line. The Whermacht must have really sent alot to Italy. Just keeping the pressure on and linking up with the Maginot Line would greatly aid you now.

well it looks like the AI isnt capable of handeling this kind of direct approach

In the AI's defence this hasnt been easy and things are going to get harder and harder.
