A SFIO-Radical coalition haven't the majority but have a winning minority

PCF: 8
SFIO: 5
Radicals: 6
PRD: 4
AF: 5

So they have more seats (5+6=11) than the commies (8) and the right (4+5=9)
But it's freaking tight :eek:hmy:!

Question to all: Do you think SFIO is willing to form a governement with the PCF?
I don't think so. I was also under the impression that many radicals would want a coalition with the PRD, and that the PRD dosen't like AF.

I think they would, but only with the Radicals with them they would have a majority, and that is quite implausible. Right now it is really hard to form a government, but the election can change a lot.

Welcome to the forums! Glad you decided to join the winning team in this election :)

I'm thinking the Radicals and the SFIO would make good bedfellows, for the sake of winning the elections, their policies are essentially the same, excluding the one on the Soviet Union.

Right now, it seems like a vote for the AF is a vote for the Left, since it's implausible that they'll get to form a government.

I therefore call everyone who voted for AF to switch to PRD, since an alliance between the Radicals and the PRD might have a chance against the Left.

Perhaps, but a vote for AF give them power and if the commies try to destroy the republic, AF militia will be our best hope to fight back. I say that, but I've voted PRD.

If SFIO or PCF win, AF will rise against the government. They fight leftists in the streets, so why not in the state? The worst is that the PRD could very well support them against extreme-left radicalism such as PCF.

If the victors are AF, PRD, or potentially the Radicals, then the PCF will rise against the government and discredit the communist/socialist cause. Not to mention they wouldn't win, SFIO is a loyal opposition that won't become part of a revolution.

Thus the only sensible way to vote is SFIO, since it's possible they can contain the PCF and reach to an agreement with the Radicals, forming a leftist mayority government which would also resist any coup or uprising from AF. They could also reach agreements with at least a small portion of the PRD.

Because of this reasons, I call for the PCF voters to change their vote to SFIO.

I vote SFIO!

Changing the vote mid election is a show of weak character and lack of a ideology.

If we communists win the election, we disband this democratic system! No need for in the Soviet Republic of France!:ninja:

People who voted Action Française better flee the country after the elections!

PCF of course :)

The people's flag is deepest red
It shrouded oft our martyred dead

This is like real politics. Everyone disagrees with others and no one is happy with the parliament.

Poll time:

Total Vote: 32

PCF: 9
Radicals: 7
SFIO: 6
AF: 6
PRD: 4

Perhaps now time to think about potential government. The two most natural alliances (SFIO-Rads and PRD-AF) both fall a long way short of a majority (13 and 10 votes respectively). At the moment the most workable government would be a grand alliance of the constitutional partie (SFIO-Rads-PRD) which would have 17 votes - a razor thin majority of one vote. The next most likely government with the current set up would be a 'workers front' of PCF-SFIO which at the moment has 15 votes (one below half). With things so close though, everything still has the potential to change with a handful of votes. We might even have a situation where a realistic government becomes impossible (like in Germany in the lead up to the Nazi seizure of power) where Communists on the left and fascistic forces on the right (groups that obviously cannot work together) become larger than the 'constitutional parties' combined. Very interesting.

Well I certainly hope that my fellow AF members will refuse to work for a government that involves those dangerous and oppressive communists.
