Why thank you... now let us just hope it is noticed by those producers... yesss. According to them the Aztec idea was made the same way. A "zombie" or "undead" theme I would find interesting, but we should give the history people what they want first... two of these DLC sorts at once would be too much for them to handle. Lol

I had toyed around with an event chain for vampires, jedi, undead etc. Sort of sub faction fighting within kingdoms, so you'd have two characters going to war because they were of opposing sub factions, either individually through events or actually using armies on the map. Neat thing is it could be done with historical factions or fantasy factions as listed above

They hit me with a 100k doomstack in Spain while simultaneously hitting norther Brittania. Given that they only hit around 1250 (a little before I think), I had just shy of 1000 counties in my empire. To make a long story short, they split their doomstack, got owned and even brought another 50k units (maybe transferred from the Britannia hit). It took me a few years to completely eliminate them from the map and get some easy free land as well (holy war/break truce/holy war). They are quite a bit easier to deal with than the Golden Horde or the Ilkhanate. If they hit in the early/mid 1100s (like the poster above mentions), things would be very different.
 
There is one major flaw with Sunset Invasion... its goal was to bring a Pagan threat to Western Europe. Now Western and Eastern Europe tremble!... but what about Central Europe? Have we forgotten about them?

In my current game the Aztecs are useless. They landed in Portugal took a small chunk of Southwestern Iberia. The declared war on France and their their iberian holdings. The 173,000 man doomstack took a French county and hasn't moved since. their war with France has sat at 32% war score for DECADES. They only move to fight a rebel uprising. Or a crusade that NO ONE joins. It's very dumb.
 
While Aztec succeses varies I do think they are a bit underpowerd. Most likely Paradox thinks its walking on egg shells and did not want to make the Aztecs to obtrusive fearing even more community backlash.
 
I don't know if it's a real issue. Historically the Mongols often allowed native lords to rule their lands as long as they paid tribute and recognised overlordship of the khan. And there's plenty of examples when Russian princes revolted against the Golden Horde. Unless Aztecs bring their own administration and bureaucracy overseas then they must rely to vassal lords. I'm not expert in Mesoamerican history, but I believe that Aztec Empire made other tribes and city states to pay tribute to them instead of completely annexing them. So having them to rely on to foreign vassals in Europe doesn't sound that unrealistic.

But were not talking historically, but game mechanics.
For a ruling culture/religion to survive in power in game it needs to have atleast 1/3rd of the land/vassals of the realm. Or else it wont have enough of a foundation to fight off civil wars, plots or factions.
If the AI is winning the war on battles in after only 3 provinces have been occupied, then the invasion is over as most likely they will accept the first factions demands against them and even if they refuse it they have no chance of lasting when 9/10 vassals are hostile.
Thats how the game works. If youre powerless and all your vassals hate you, youre going to lose. And with how soon the Aztecs accept peace theyre always poweless and they never have enough friendly vassals to counter the hostile.

If you use the console to give_title's to the Aztecs in that intial kingdom they conquer so they have that power base to work from, then they actually pose a threat to their neighbours, they can keep their vassals under control and so theyre free to invade.

I'm just saying that it makes sense also from the historical perspective. And when we are thinking about the gameplay aspect we notice that Aztecs are made weak on purpose. They don't get similar doomstack reinforcements as the Mongols etc. and I believe it's a design decision that in most games they conquer kingdom or two before they become weaker and Western Europe can strike back.
 
I think the Aztecs are a bit too weak as an invasion force for how late in the game they appear. Modding the files so they appear a century sooner makes them a greater threat without making them overpowered.

In the game I just started(at 1249) the Aztecs took all of Galicia and Cornwall before stalling in an invasion for England. The slow down was due to England having troops comparable to their largest stack and winning the battle between the stacks. Then a crusade was called for Galicia and the HRE joined.
 
i'm sure the Aztecs wouldn't even be able to get over the sea with out losing most of their invasion force not even sure how they figured Europe was over there in the first place, wonder who would win out of Aztecs or Romans at each others height of power.
 
Further tweaked my code on the last page, here is what I am using now, they come in about the same time as the holy orders but before the player can become too powerful. I've toned down the numbers of knights and troops from my previous code, and they won't get the pox for 50-100 years or so.

i'm sure the Aztecs wouldn't even be able to get over the sea with out losing most of their invasion force not even sure how they figured Europe was over there in the first place, wonder who would win out of Aztecs or Romans at each others height of power.

However if the vikings can find the americas the aztecs can find europe :), even if the vikings were the masters of sea so to speak, it isn't out of the realms of possibility other ships made it with small raiding parties (small being the key to why the vikings made it and were so successful).

They'd first have to get from South America to somewhere north of the Florida peninsula otherwise they'd be sailing into the wind trying to cross the Atlantic & be far too susceptible to hurricanes destroying their ships.
The vikings went from Scandinavia to Iceland then Greenland before getting to North America which being a number of smaller crossings is far more likely to be successful than a single crossing of the Atlantic. They also established colonies at each point along the way which made the possibility of further exploration easier and more likely to result in success.

Vikings had a long tradition of seafaring and oceangoing ships. Aztecs had no naval tradition and absolutely no shipbuilding technology.
 
Aztec had no naval technology to even conquer Caribbean islands how the heck they could have come to Europe over the Atlantic when civilization that had a lot more advanced naval technology and experiences where not able to do that?
Even European colonializing new world was slow that took long period of exploration and building colonies from scratch.

I do not understand why they made this Sunset DLC it is pure fantasy and as realistic as Holy Roman Laser Tanks attacking from outer space DLC.
