Thank you !

Happy Christmas !

Thanks!

Does this mean that it's official, GG users (such as myself) will be getting Steam keys for the game + DLCs?

Merry Christmas!

I too am interested, if a solution has been found for the GG users. :)

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...der-Kings-II-Steam-and-GG-Versions-The-Future

EDIT: Also hopefully before end of year for the keys.

To round this little dev diary off, as you probably know, we are dropping all support for the GamersGate version of the game after this patch. The GG version is too much trouble to maintain and is holding us back from having decent multiplayer, achievements for everyone, etc. GamersGate users need not despair however; we are hard at work getting Steam keys ready for you (including, of course, all DLC), and hope to have that done before year's end!

Regarding the GG to Steam move i'd also like to know if it's safe to delete everything related to Steam (including registry entries) after updating the game each patch and starting it once to register DLCs.

The reason for this question:
I intend to install Steam on an old PC of mine, but i'm not sure CK2 can run on it and as far as i know i have to run it at least once after updating for it to recognise DLCs correctly.
So that if that doesnt work, i will need to install Steam on my main PC, but i won't like to keep Steam running/interfering in any way other than for updating and DLC recognition.

You don't need to uninstall Steam. You can just not open it.

I know, i just don't want any part of it on my comp other then in times where its necessary and no i'm not going to discuss this.
Could have checked that myself by now i guess, but well..
Just want to know if possible or not.

At least on Linux CK2 worked fine after uninstalling Steam, when I last tried. There's obviously no registry either, so I doubt it cares about that.

Then i'll see and hope you are right. As long as there are no CK2 related Steam specific entries that should work then.
Great...now i'm a litte bit less angry. Appeasing for my soul that is.
Thanks
:)

Won't there be a ton more unmarried courtiers in this patch? Since imprisoned people cannot arrange marriages. IMHO I find that to be silly. All you have to do is imprison someone and then their dynasty will die out from lack of marriages.

It should work fine. I've literally got a half dozen installs of CK2 for different versions, and some even sitting on an external hard drive that I sometimes plug into my laptop. It runs without problems.
