England has decided that Scotland is worth more then letting some provinces in scandinavia to go to my vassals there. the 5k total army of Portugal-Castille does not scare England and the underhand tactics that was used to force England to peace out has not worked.
England Congrats Teutonic order of a well planned assult and has no grudge over the lost territories to them.

Diplomacy sessions are not valueless, it appears.

After pressures, I decided to tone down my requests to the simple release of Scotland as a free nation.

The chance of signing a public NAP was also spoke of, and about that I can offer a NAP of 50 years with England, and stop supporting Scotland.

This is my final offer, provided it will be accepted before the start of next session.

If this offer is refused, I guess the war will go on, but with different requests in the future.

Yet another relatively good session for the OE. Apologies if I neglected to reply to some tells, was quite busy with fighting wars and putting down rebellions (the people of the Balkans were rather reluctant to embrace Islam).

Didn't catch much of what went on beyond the OE's borders, but this war between the (future) colonial powers seems to have been the most major event. Everyone else seemed occupied with consolidating their gains from previous sessions.

Let's hope we have more luck with OOS issues next time.

Jão's main concern over starting this war was the threatening position of England contra the idle peacefull Portugal and agressive over-expansion on England's side. Jão is now convinced that with the current progress, England poses no threat to Portugal and cannot enforce its threats. The loss of Scandinavia is a sad side effect of the war but blamed on England for not taking a wise decision of peacing out a war that he already could not win, even though Portugal funded the rebels there.

Portugal agrees on the terms made by the Castillian King on the latter however wishes to add a public note that the NAP would count for the entire iberian alliance and more importantly, that England keeps to his colonial devisions made long before the war. I am prepared and able to put on this war into infinity if England does not accept to these terms.

I'll try to be brief (warning: long post).

After the last session, I think it's up to me to clarify some things, and I desire to do it in public.

The reasons why England was declared war (and everything connected to it, like excommunication, spy actions, etc.) is the following, exactly the same I and Martyn were claiming: England became a very large nation, its expansion going unstopped by other human countries, and from the beginning of the game threatening to invade/subdue/harm Portugal.

I do not mean that anything Elcyion did was out of the contest, he respected all the game rules and improved his income and strength, to the point he would have won whatever war he could wage against Portugal and Castille, if he wanted to make his threats true.

He was the only nation atm capable of soon becoming unstoppable by us AND one we had no NAPs/alliances/other deals with, so it was a bit risky to leave him grow further without acting, since our personal grow would have not matched his (call it a better progress, or a more skilled player's work).

We dowed with the aim to slow his progress, not to gain lands in the British Isles; at the start of the war, he asked what we wanted, and we answered: 'the release of Scotland and Ireland as free nations'. He did not even answer, probably thinking we were joking.

To defend his capital from invasion, he had to leave other lands poorly defended, something Portugal, Portugal's funded rebels and other human nations took advantage of.

Beside repeating that Martyn and I hadn't organized any kind of gangbang with the 3 abovementioned nations, I can at best ask them to publicly write we had no agreements whatsoever, like Feo already did. On the top of it, after we dowed, I was informed -if the guy wants to tell who he is he can, because I won't write it here- that our act wouldn't have brought any other to dow England (but we already organized our war by ourselves, that didn't make us change plans).

I was told Elcyion is stubborn, I don't know whether he realized or not the fact that peacing sooner would have brought him far less damage (not to mention that full minting is dangerous, more so if kept for long and in early game), just look what you already lost in Scandinavia.

But enough of this, Elcyion's in-game decisions are not unfair or something I want to discuss here...as I already told you, whatever course of action you choose will be considered by me just a part of the game, and that's all.

The reasons I wrote this is because, as again I've told you, that everything everyone did is to be considered just part of the game, from my actions to those of who seized the opportunity (you are not surrounded by guys plotting against you); I suggest you to take it easy, not personally, and not to ruin a spot you can use to later enjoy the game.

Best of wishes.

He walked through the troops standing proudly as a soldier of Temor II's army. His grubby, smelly black uniform wore the marks of a regular officer within the forces of the Timurid Empire.

The demise of Tamurlame and his legacy had been talked about loudly amongst the villages. Despite a strong successor fighting his way up and pronouncing himself king of all the lands, this realm was no longer worthy of the name Empire . Indeed for it to be linked with the great legend of Tamurlame was laughable. The Delhi campaign had stuttered and had been an unmitigated failure, now all that was left was fighting endless rebellions and a spiral of debt and ruin had befallen the general populace.

The man in the soldiers uniform smiled beside himself, the delusional Temor II still held control of the armed forces and the rules of the constitution demand that he still be recongnized king whilst there was a living breath in his body. Time to rectify that. This man was no loyal warrior of Temor II's armed gaurd, the man that used to wear these clothes had been dispatched of some hours earlier. The man inside was a man of no particular loyalties, the man was an assassin!!!

***** Back in Samarkand*****

Five men waited anxiously of reports from the south - east, they had invested all their resources that they had carefully hidden away from the royal guard. Finally a messenger arrived in the room.

M'Lord, the last of Temor's bastards has been rounded up, he has been duly executed as you required.

It was after all not the news they had been waiting for. One of the squires grimaced.

Damn, Ugly business this, was there not a whore in this city who Temor did not have?

Easy there. said another. We have done what needs to be done.

As this was said another messenger almost bowls into the last.

'M'Lords terrible news' said with mock sadness 'The king is dead.'

The five men let out a whoop of delight in unison.

'At last' said one 'the pretender is dead'

'My friends we have to move quickly' said another ' we must inform the populace of the council of regents that us five have formed.'

'In the meantime we shall continue to train the young man' ... ' the young man Nasir that shall once again bring glory to the Timurid empire'.

The Empire of the Rising Sun: Mixed Omens

Emperor Kuniyori, hero of the Japanese people, has fallen. His body left frail by so many injuries from so many triumphs has become prey to an inexplicable illness. A man whose character, swordmanship, impeccable mind and above all else his devotion to his nation, granted him the strength of will to carry out his duty even in the face of a life of peril. He is an example to us all. I declare a new order: The Order of the Rising Sun to be estabilised in his memory. I honor Emperor's Kuniyori's name by awarding him post-humourlsy as the first recipent of The Order of the Rising Sun: First class.

- Statement from the Shogun of the Empire of the Rising Sun

Ships are sighted in the Malaccan Straits.

Westerners calling themselves "Portuguese," devoties of an ancient sect worshiping a martyr named Jesus elevated to godhood, arrived in Asia. Japan needs only one martyr and thanks to the foresight of the Shogun, it has already been created. The public are assured that these travelers had searched long and hard to learn how to better themselves by gazing upon the magnifence that is Nippon.

Emergency cabinet called by the Shogun. Pomp and ceremony on hold.

With Kuniyori's accident the Emperor is now but a puppet and yet we face
grave circumstances. These westerners are dangerous. They bring with them something that has power to destroy all Japan.

*Outburst*

The Empire's armies have emerged victorius in every war for the last 5 decades. We have smashed countless uprising's and state armies. We are invincib---

Silence!

What you fight are weaklings! These westerners bring with them the power of innovation. And left to its own devices we will one day be their slaves because of it. I will not let this happen! We will learn, adapt, and assimalate. We will strive to think as they do. Not at the expense of our culture, nor of our beloved devotion to the nation, but only to enhance it. Make ready prepartion's to bring forward the final conquest dates of Indonesia 10 years and impress upon our artisans the importance of being receptive to the ideas that these westerner's may bring.

Dismissed

Real Ordnem de Avis - The Age of Exploration and Naval Dominance

Upon the ascension of Jão II to the throne, the wise king decided to adopt a new national flag. This flag was to resemble the relation between royal Portugal and the water, and also reflect their devotion to christianity. Thus the new "Bandeira santamente do azul e da coroa" was adopted as the new flag.

Explorers set out to travel south, along the berbers which were being subjegated by the French, towards unknown waters and new lands.
After one year travelling south, The Portuguese Navy finally found a point where the land pointed upwards. However, due to a big storm progresses was slowed down.

Explorer Juan Del Piño died in the storm, however miraculously no ships were lost. The crew, seeing this as a miracle from God returned to Madeira with haste to pick up a new explorer and set forth their journey. After travelling past the southern Cape as it was now called, Portuguese explorers found an african tribal despot living along the shores. Becausethe ships were battred of the journey, the men went on land and started attacking Africans. When the Africans were beaten, the new explorer Bartlo De Niro offered vassalisation of the Portguese crown to the Africans. These Africans being beaten by a far superior force accepted and Mombasa became a stop for Portuguese ships.

Afterhaving resupplied, the Portuguese travellers continued their way along the coasts to a place what the Africans dubbed as the horn of the Great Beast. One year later, Portuguese vessels sighted land. The explorers requested acces to it from the unknown King and were grandly welcomed.

After the landing in this "horn" (it was in fact the edge of the 2 big empires called the Ming Empire and the Timurid Empire) the Portuguese continued their way along the coast in search of more benevolent kingdoms. After 2 months of searching, the ships found an Island which appeared to belong to a vast Island Empire named Nippon or as the Portuguese named it, Japan.
following is a Japanese artists painted report on the events.

A good relation was quickly established with the japanese and the new period of Eastern trade was named "Nanban Trade" by the Portuguese. After arrival near the Empire of the Ming Emperor, the Ming emperor gifted the Island of Hainan to the Portuguese Empire. The Portuguese empire decided the island should go to the Crown of Castille on the next occasion.

After one more year of exploring, the Portuguese corwn was preparing for a war against England. England had alsways been hostile towards portugal, from 1399 they called Portugal a "Spanish fief" and later on they threatened with military action. Also Portugual and Castille deemed the overexpansive policy from England a danger to the very fragile balance of Europe. The "Real Armada" of Portugual counting 27 carracks was stationed in Brittany and lead by Mirando del Feugo, a renown Portuguese Admiral of the Order. upon 1440, The Pope excommunicated England per request of The Castillian corwn and upon that excommunication, the Iberian Alliance brought war on England. At the beginning of the war, Portugal funded rebels in Scandinavia, granting these opressed people a chance to fight for their sovereign freedom. following will be a pictured record of how the war progressed.

now peace is found, the Portuguese Empire will find time to colonise and vastly expand its Empire.

What a wonderful report Monmarty, well done there.

I in particular enjoyed that diagram. Two questions leading from that.

1) I was not aware Portugal had an army - then again the Timurid empire is not really aware of anything!!!!

2) Your Portuguese Armada appears to split as it exits the bay of biscay, one half heading off in the wrong direction into greyland that I assume is France. I can assume one of three things, these fine Portuguese navigators got lost, got the garlic eating frogs confused with lime sucking poms or it is getting some sort of assisstence from the previously mentioned amphibians???

Dammit I was hoping for biggest loser prize, must try harder!!!

As one guy with the fog of war lifted, I could say he showed how the Portuguese Armada MOVED during the war.

Follow the numbers 1,2,3 to see which location they chronologically went to.

I'd post an aar, but it would be dwarfed by Martyn's detailed one so I will remain silent for now

Nice AARs all. Too bad Naples is too small to have anything interesting to write about..

Is there a position for me if I do show up today? There is a 50/50 chance I can make it to the game today based on how quickly I can get a few things done here...

Agent, it would be great to see you once more.

I have some positions that need filling. Elite Ferret is coming to take the Teutons, Strono is still a little busy and so would like someone to substitute him once more (would be perfect for you).

in fact the portuguese army was far more succesfull then the castillian, this was however due to the fact that the castillians had the most opposition. The portuguese army was only directly attacked in Ireland and thus i came trough the war with only 6,000-10,000 cav units. we still pay homage to the thousands of castillian sons that died trying to quell the english .

about the navy, the part that goes left is the transport navy, the part that sails into france was the armada. the armada moored there for quite some time so i could strike the enlgish navy from the fog of war. the one that splits off into the channel is the armada on its way to lock the navy of the english into a port on the east coast.

mind you i moored in brittany, a vassal of france, i never actually got acces from france.
