Fair Play 'Mod' is a modification of combat rules in Europa Universalis II.

With this mod all battles are fought like assaults - without possibility to retire. Purpose of this modification is to equalise chances of AI and human player, becouse AI never withdraws from battles that are decisive and run disastrous. Playing with FPM gives impression that impossibility of retireing is utterly natural and normal rule of the game. It makes EU2 much more challenging, especially if you play with a minor state.

To apply Fair Play Mod download it from HERE and unpack to directory containing EU2.exe. Then just run eu2_fpm.exe, confirm Bitlogic Software message and start playing EU2. FPM must always run together with EU2 to take effect. You can start EU2 from FPM, so for regular use, replace shortuct to EU2 with shortcut to FPM.

You can also download Delphi source of FPM (+dll) from HERE.

Fair Play Mod is a program blocking right button of a system mouse as long as the battle interface is visible on the screen, what guarantees that withdrawals are impossible. To work effectively, it needs Bitlogic Software DLL (MouseHook.dll) that is free for noncommercial purposes (more info). MouseHook.dll is necessary part of FPM. FPM doesn't affect stability of the game nor of the system. It will work with all versions of EU2 and all, known to me, graphical mods (even BeBro's reorg gfx - tested), in all resolutions, but rather not on Mac. FPM doesn't affect any EU2 files, so to stop using it just stop turning it on ;)

Here's FPM FAQ consisting of 2 questions:

1. Why to disable retreats?

Becouse AI never withdraws, becouse battle should be a risky business, becouse disabling retreats appears to be more historical than enabling [*]. Becouse it makes EU2 much harder.

2. Why to just not withdraw from battles?

Of course you can "just don't click to withdraw". However, considering things you can do, but you perceive as unfair to AI, is uncomfortable. It spoils satisfaction from playing. In complicated and unclear situations playing with FPM is clear and you're consistent without need to think about it.
