Peshmerga Absolute

“Thrice-damn that scoundrel!” The Supreme Commander of the Peshmerga walks back and forth. Bala Yigit, the conqueror of the Ottoman Empire, isn't waiting for anything in particular; he simply decided that waiting would be the best course of action. He hasn't been idle. No. While he waits, an army loyal to him surrounds and protects him from the other Peshmerga faction on the other side of the city, and there will be more of them coming under his banner.

He no longer writes on his journal. He certainly will not write about this. The war is over and he is a hero. The End. He certainly don't want to remembered as the supreme commander who abandoned his king.

Extracts from the “A Modern History of the Middle East” by Ramsay Pace (Midas Books, Vancouver CA)

With Kurdistan triumphant, the Sultan have called for an election in his now
independent kingdom. The election shall result in a chamber of disputes with
representatives from across the kingdom and a premier as the head of government.
The end of the war and the birth of democracy has made a huge reversal on
the people's opinion of their king. His position is now unassailable, it seems.

kurdelec01_zpsaf593ab3.png
The running parties are: Partiya Karkeren
Kurdistan (a Socialist party), Partiya
Demokrate Kurdistan (a Conservative party),
Partiya Azadi (a Social-Democrat party),
Partiya Serbokho (a Nationalist party).

The first ever election in the Kingdom of Kurdistan was fought with words; but mostly,
it was fought with every tricks and schemes possible: slander, scandals, sabotage,
vandalism, voter intimidation, blackmail, bribery, frame-ups, ballot stuffing. Out of all
these parties, the Socialists are rising above the rest, thanks to their partners from
the Caucasus.

The Georgians have taken a great interest that this triumphant nation, born out of
the ashes of the Ottoman Empire. The new nation's first election was an opportunity
that can't be missed. Beria is very keen on establishing a significant ally in the Middle
East. NKVD agents and officers from the Transcaucasian Federation, with great
experience on their trade, have approached the Socialist Party with their full assistance.

The Entente was alerted at the significant Georgian activity in the election campaign;
and so, they have supported the Democrat Party (Partiya Demokrate),
to prevent the rise of a powerful Socialist country in the Middle East and to gain
an ally in the region.

The foreign agents were very aware on how the game is played: that the required
support was 50%+1 on each district, and win enough districts to gain
the parliament majority. It is interesting to see how the Kurdish that bested
the Ottomans, have found themselves unable to parry against foreign subterfuge
lunging towards the heart.

The other parties, the nationalists and the social democrats, have no benefactors
of their own, but fought valiantly with their own schemes. Alas, the results are ominous.
The Karkeren Party seems to be wining, followed by the Democrats. Beria's
investment seems to bear fruit.

Then, the military stormed the Sultan's palace to quell the chaos.

------------------------------------------------

A statement from the coup leader, General Sarkis Demirkol, to the soldiers

For too long, our respect and esteem to
His Majesty has been wasted for allowing
this chaotic and violent democracy to occur.
To lie on our people with false promises, to
beat up anyone who refuses to vote for
them, that is what they do. These parties
are also cohorting with the Turks and Arabs
just to gain votes from them; it makes me
sick. Don't they have any dignity nor pride
nor honour?
They got the gall to call themselves Kurdish.

What is worst of all, these Democrats and
Socialists are all being funded and
supported by foreign powers! These
spineless amoral scoundrels are so eager
to turn themselves into puppets. Yes!
His Majesty have allowed the foreign devils,
Mensheviks and Western Imperialists, to
corrupt our valiant and honest society with
their conceited tricks and fits of violence.
His Majesty have forced us to stand back
on this constant violation of our motherland.

We had enough for this!

I rally you all now, proud soldiers of
Peshmerga, sons of Kurdistan,
sons of Salahadin, to bring a halt to this
injustice and chaos on our beloved home.

Never! Never will Kurdistan be a subordinate
nation again. We have bowed to the Turks
for centuries. Now, we shall not bow to
the French, neither the British,
nor the Mensheviks.

Rise! Let us put an end to this theatrical
farce once and for all!

Kurdistan will remain strong and united!

Extracts from “Our Quest for Albion: A History of the British Empire After the Great War” by Jonathan Moore (Lighthouse Press, Toronto CA)

By the 19th of February 1940, Turkestan
have declared war against Afghanistan,
Delhi, and Persia, which in turn the Arab
Axis and the Entente have declared war
to Turkestan. The Caliphate have
the ambition of recreating Timurlane's
empire and bring the three nations under
their fold. The British Empire and
the French sent their airforces and
an expeditionary army to stop the Turks
from taking over Delhi.
turkestanwar_zps6abb88d1.png

turkestanwar2_zps6b735037.png

Even with the significant military help from
the British Empire and France, Delhi's
position remains very precarious.
The Syndicalists from the East have
successfully defeated the Princely
Federation which has crumbled from within.
Delhi is now stuck between the Red Bengalis
and the Islamist Turkics.

india02_zpsbcf5a991.png

By the 19th of March 1940, the Syndicalists
have won and brought a new European
order. Both the British and the French
feared the worst: that reconquest of
the homelands would become impossible.
The British exiles in Canada still hopes that
the Red victory in mainland Europe won't
have a dramatic influence on their chance
of landing and liberating
the British homeland.

Extracts from the “A Modern History of the Middle East” by Ramsay Pace (Midas Books, Vancouver CA)

The anti-democratic coup was headed by General Demirkol, the former Supreme
Commander of the Peshmerga during the early parts of the Ottoman War. His faction
that he was leading was alarmed at the unravelling chaos of the young democracy.
While it is understood in Canada that controlled and calm debates between parties is
simply a part of the tradition of democracy, it appears that the Kurdish have been
more tense on the struggle for the people's hearts and minds.

On the 18th of December, Demirkol's hardline faction stormed the capital and
the Sultan's palace with his loyal units. They have arrested the Sultan and forced him
to abdicate. They have arrested the leaders of the parties and all the way down to
the ordinary party members. They have seized the state radio station where
they proclaimed the “liberation of Kurdistan from foreign devils”.

Once the dust have settled, Demirkol is now the ruler of Kurdistan with the Sultan
under his custody. His rival Bala Yigit, the head of the Peshmerga, have reacted
appropriately and rallied his own force loyal to him to prevent himself from being
dismissed by the coup, but it was too late to save the Sultan.

kurdcabinet05_zps742534fa.png
The result was a stand-off between
the loyalists and the coup. Both sides are
reluctant on firing the first shot, neither
have the appetite for civil war, and neither
can overwhelm the other. However,
General Demirkol gained the temporary
blessing of the masses, and Yigit was not
blind on what's happening. So, a pact was
made between Demirkol and Yigit. Little
was known about the pact, but one thing is
clear is that Yigit remains on his post as
the head of the Peshmerga, which is now
known as the Field Marshal of
the Peshmerga. Demirkol attains the title,
Supreme Commander of the Peshmerga,
and is now the undisputed leader of
the country, heading his own junta.
One of the first policies instated by the new
military government was the investment of
a new weapons industry complex funded
by the spoils from the Ottoman War. It
lead to the astonishing increase for
the Kurdish economy of 70% in that year.

Memo #12

We have received intelligence reports on the estimated Axis' military strength from
agents in these countries. Several reports from the observation officer, CAVKESK,
and his team have supported the other estimates. The best estimate we have is that
the Egyptians have 21 divisions, the Hashemites – 9 divisions, and the Persians –
18 divisions.

intelpersia_zps7ea2c035.png

The enemy outnumber us nearly five to one, but we can have a chance with most of
their force being sent east to fight the Turks. God willing that we defeat them before
they send all their forces to us.

Next update tomorrow Friday :D
I intend to finish this AAR by the weekend

I think Z has a thing for turning new democracies into Military Juntas, seems to be a running theme
Yo! The last one was from Middle Republic :p But yeah, I prefer juntas because I need warmongers. Picking the Rad Socialists, initially, and be friends with Beria, but it felt like cheating (being allied with Trans-caucasian Fed) so I changed it. The nationalist option sounds boring to me.

Late to the party, but here I am.:p Good quality AAR as usual Zzzzz...:)

Race to Riyadh

The prisoner stepped out from the fortress. With the prison behind her and her family at front, she broke into tears and ran towards them. She and her family have pulled enough strings and filled enough purses to grant her release. She was acquitted from all charges she did not commit. Her only commitment was to democracy and the well being of the new nation. The others weren't as lucky as her.

Sabet Tanju was just a lowly member of the Partiya Azadi – Social Democrats – yet they were all arrested by the coup plotters, along with the members from other parties. If there's one thing the political parties all agreed on now, it's the hatred to the junta and to Supreme Commander Demirkol.

Perhaps it is best not to actively antagonist the regime after all the hard work done to release her, yet Sabet couldn't sit and do nothing. Something must be done. However, she couldn't do much in this new Kurdistan under junta rule without being arrested again. Amongst her small array of options, she decided to write.

When the junta was established,
the industrialisation program was initiated.
It quelled many dissidents with promises of
work and economic growth. The program,
however, was for the benefit of the junta
to pursue more aggressive actions on our
neighbouring countries. The program only
produced heavy industries, such as steel
and lumber mills, and then lead them
to weapons factories.
publicworks_zps9388d31c.png
peshm02_zpsb4e14477.png
The country was being shifted into war
economy. The Kurdish industry grew by
an impressive 70% growth from
[December 1939] to [April 1941].
The immense program was funded by war
loots from the Ottoman Empire. With this
war industry, they have turned
the Peshmerga from a rag-tag team into
a professional hard-hitting force.

Kurdistan was facing the Axis alliance
consists of the Hashemites, Egypt,
and Persia. The most prudent thing to do
for any sane government is to abandoned
this risky ambition and promote
the well-being and prosperity of the Kurdish
people. Alas, the Demirkol Junta is not sane.
According to the materials obtained during
the investigation, Operation Lion was
the solution to give Kurdistan a chance
against the Axis forces - by knock out
the Hashemites as quickly as possible.

peshm01_zps3c44c6fe.png

Peshmerga artillery crew
The mostly lightly-armed militia force of the Peshmerga was reformed and outfitted like a standing army.

oplion_zpsfae1ad44.png

Operation Lion
Lion calls for a grand thrust towards Riyadh, the capital, and swing towards
the Holy City of Mecca. Additional advances will be made to Basrah and Damascus.

After two months, the advancing forces
were nearly cut off by the Axis forces
spread out along the Euphrates. Our side
are already feeling the pressure from
the superior enemies, and that is without
the majority of their forces in Turkestan.
frontline10_zps3eb01f39.png

Riyadh was captured on the
[13th of September 1941]. Our brave
soldiers are now advancing towards
the Holy City. The Hashemite forces are
in full flight. This would mean one step
closer to peace and the return of
our warriors.

frontline11_zpsd877b12a.png

frontline12_zpsb675a1b8.png
A month later, Mecca was captured and
Peshmerga forces are on the outskirts
of Damascus, and our forces are still
holding the Egyptians and Persians at bay.
Three days later, the Hashemites
surrendered to Kurdistan. One enemy
gone, two more to go. One step closer
to peace. One step closer to the demise
of the junta.

annexarabia_zpsd3e929c5.png

It is [December]. Two months since
the defeat of the Hashemites, it seems that
we are winning, but it was the opposite.
Some Peshmerga forces were trapped
in Arabia, Baghdad was captured and
heavily damaged, and Mosul is under
enemy fire. Alas, it seems that
our homeland will be conquered. The junta
will be defeated, but we would have lost
and our motherland will be ruled by
a foreign regime. Kurdistan has to win!
frontline15_zps4a4b2b9d.png
frontline16_zps4bba320b.png
[February]: It's a miracle! Our brave
soldiers have pushed back the invaders!
Enemies were trapped and captured from
Gaziantep and from the Caucasus.
Peshmerga forces are even reaching
Damascus. God is great!
We are actually winning!
The push continues all the way to Palestine,
but the front on the east continues to lie
so close to Mosul. I have been conscripted
into service to work in the rear, delivering
ammunition to the front. That's when
I knew that reinforcements are being sent
back to the capital to make a push east.

battle18_zps93c27c80.png
What is amazing during this war is that
we continue to defeat and destroy enemy
units. Making it possible for us to level
the situation to our favour. By [April 1942],
we have orders to travel from El Hillah
to Basrah with the intention of encircling
the Egyptians west of Basrah.
The greater forces of Egypt were besieged
by the less numerical Peshmerga. The size
of both forces did made the siege difficult.
The encirclement was broken and have
to reseal again. It took three assaults
to break the defenders. The siege was
intense as I witness it. However, it was
worth it. 14 enemy divisions surrendered
or destroyed.

We have received confirmation from our men that most of the Egyptian forces were destroyed in An Najaf. This is truly extraordinary! Egypt lay wide open for us to take.

If you guys couldn't believe what just happened. Yeah. Me too. I can't comprehend how they let 16 divs stacked in a single province. I also can't believe that I managed to push them back.

If you're wondering on how I manage to fight back, the secret is: infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure. Infra, as I discovered in this Kurdistan game, plays a big role on org regain in not-Europe areas. Unlike Europe where you can re-org bloody everywhere, it's different in infra poor Middle East, especially when the province has switched hands a few times that the infra went down to freaking zero.

So what's the solution? When you're out of org. Retreat your troops on high infra places (Baghdad, Mosul) and put on offensive supply. Advancing enemy divs with depleted org would be easy.

My doctrine is the Soviet one and I also put all units on supply all the time. My IC are all on supplies.

Amazing.

This is the beginning of the Kurdish century.
The insane junta takes on the entire middle east - and wins? :D

Does your Turkish pet republic do anything useful for you?
Yes. I expected that I would lose so I can have this game/AAR done. It did not, so this AAR gets a bit longer than planned.

I have already released the Turkish republic to the wild since the peace. I don't want their resources and units. Kurdistan alone is of stronk!

Accidental glorious victory is the best kind of glorious victory

Okay. Good news, I have a job now. Bad news, I have less time. :( More good news, I'm nearly done with the first one. More bad news, two more updates left. I'll be posting them this week.

oh man! That's cool. Thanks!

From Herat to Khartoum

Sabet continues to write – to write against the abuses of the junta regime that she despises – both here and at home. She gradually changes roles in the Peshmerga; more and more she gets closer to the frontline. First, logistics; then, support battalion; now, artillery crew. The men of Kurdistan are dying like flies, and the women are being conscripted; she can clearly see the desperation. The artilleries are silent for now.

This war has to stop. It has to end.

------------------------------------------------

Note: all dates were edited from Islamic calendar style to Gregorian calendar style

After the ground-breaking victory against
the Axis forces, the Peshmerga have drawn
up a defensive line to stem the Persian
advance for 3 months, and for 3 months
the Peshmerga failed to make any
breakthrough. Another army was sent
to Egypt to kick them out of the war.
It is hoped that the surrender of Egypt
would come sooner.

The Turkic army have also reached
Esfahan but were repelled. This is good
news. Persia is falling apart.

frontline19_zps32e7694e.png

frontline20_zps45350815.png
Alas, the army in Egypt failed to take
Alexandria as they fought against
a fanatical defence known as the “Royal
Guards”. With this defeat, the Egyptians
have manage to raise an army, or perhaps
Egyptian reinforcements from Persia.
They were order to retreat.

The Turkics have reached as far as Esfahan,
threatening Tehran. However, the Turkics
are now at war with the Russians too, with
Russia joining the Entente. Turkestan and
the Axis Alliance have signed a peace
treaty. Now, we have to defeat
the Persians as fast as we could.
By [November 1942], two Persian divisions
were encircled.
battle20_zps8d013183.png

battle22b_zpsb59beffe.png
The retreat was a success. The Peshmerga
have regrouped and destroyed the enemy
army advancing towards Palestine.
More enemy units are destroyed in
the Sinai. This would weaken
the Egyptians again, enabling us to kick
them out of the war.

battle22_zpsfa120fa5.png

By [17th of January 1943], the Peshmerga
unleashed Operation Falcon. As far as
I know, there will be two main attacks,
one towards Tehran and one to
the southern coast. This plan hoped that
the Persians would surrender.

Operation Falcon

frontline23_zps0225b9a4.png
Our brave warriors have burst through
the enemy lines, creating a massive hole
in the centre. Nothing can stop us.
Tehran is ours.

It is the [3rd of March] – my sister's
birthday. She works in a hospital back
in Mosul, and I'm stuck here as a part of
an artillery crew lobbing shells to
the Persians. We have received news that
our brave Peshmerga army in Egypt have
assaulted Alexandria.
We will win soon enough.

battle23_zpsec3241f9.png
battle23b_zps1cf8fff7.png

disaster01_zpsecf73651.png
[7th of May 1943]: God help us!
Our advance towards Tehran became
a disaster. Three Peshmerga divisions
in Tehran were cut off and surrendered to
the Persians. This is the first time such
numbers surrendered to our enemy.
This is a shame to us all. People in
our artillery unit are silent. It is
our humiliation. The best we can do now
is to keep fighting, and to look forward on
our comrades in Egypt to finish their war
so they could shore up the lines in Persia.

[25th of June 1943]: We kept retreating
and than advancing and again and again.
When our forces were halted by
the Persians, we were all ordered to make
a general retreat back to Kurdistan –
usually Baghdad. Our crews were ordered
to abandon and destroy our artilleries
and shell piles, lest they fall on enemy
hands. Our officers simply tell us that
we will all be rearmed and resupplied back
in our land – which they did. I did not
know that our factories are churning out
weapons like these. Such is the junta's
total war economy.

frontline23_zps0225b9a4.png

Today is the [8th of August 1943]. It is
a glorious day for the damn Egyptians
have finally surrendered to mighty
Kurdistan! Their armies were pushed back
across El Alamein, and now they have laid
down their arms to our Peshmerga army
in Egypt. Victory will soon be upon us,
God willing!
egypt02_zps2b816eaa.png

frontline24_zpsae726774.png
We took Tehran once again. For the fourth
time – I don't know now. The beautiful city
was ruined by shelling from our forces,
and also from the heavy urban fighting.
As of [26th of September], we are now
located north-north-east of Tehran and
are shelling the trapped forces in Rast.
The Persian defeat appears imminent.

The back and forth fighting across Persia -
“the wave” they called it - went on for
[three more months]. The whole of Persia
seems ravaged by the constant fighting on
several locations; but today, [3rd
of December 1943], the Persians have
surrendered as well. We are victorious!
The war is over!

frontline25_zps3c977b25.png

All Axis nations have surrendered to us. The Junta announced a meeting in Baghdad where the treaty will be signed.

Victory!

Yeah! Things got way easier after that AI exploit GLORIOUS VICTORY from the last update.

Do a longer update please for the epilogue!
Sure! I'll definitely make the epilogue a two parter; one for Treaty of Baghdad, Kurdistan, and the new order in Middle East, etc; a quick summary of what happened outside of ME.
