In this 'Let's Play' video series we play as the kings of Denmark through the house of Ylving. The series start in 1166, 100 years after Anglo Saxon England has been lost to the Normans. After a flurry of kings, we start with King Valdemar the Great. He has been on the throne for about ten years and the country is stable.

This series is really geared toward new players - and I'm one as well. So where possible I'll try to address or implement comments from more experienced players when recording the videos. The approach I take with these sort of Let's Play series is to try and explain every mouse-click and decision as I do it.

I hope you enjoy watching. And please leave comments here or on the videos if you things things could be looked at differently. :)

Let's Play Crusader Kings 2: Episode 8: Attaaaaaack!

Our forces of Denmark attack Sjaeland.

After watching episode seven, some points:
1) The reason the money you get from vassals who don't like you are shown in red, is because they aren't paying you as much as they should. Vassals who don't like their liege always cheat on their payment.
2) If you try to revoke a title, and the person you're revoking it from wouldn't want to give it up, he will always revolt.
3) Your most important vassal is the huge Prince- Archbishopric of Skåne. Since you have Free Investiture you should go to your religion tab and choose a successor for that bishop. Since he's such an important vassal, it's important that his successor likes you. If you haven't appointed a successor the game will appoint a new bishop when the old one dies.

Watched part 8. A very important point:

The counts of Fyn and Sjaelland are not electors for the crown of Denmark, but for the Duchy of Sjaelland. The ducal title have elective law since if you as a king create a ducal title within your de jure kingdom it always gets the same laws you have. So, since the crown of Denmark is elective, the Duchy of Sjaelland became elective, since it's created by the Danish king and within the borders of Denmark. However you yourself was not an elector of that title, since you didn't owned land in Sjaelland. This will change when you get your capital county back.

Thanks a lot for that important information. It really rounds out the 'unknowns' for me and makes sense of areas I was struggling with. :) I'll address those in episode 10. :)

Been watching these to pick up on differences between CK-DV and CK II, enjoyed them and thank you.

One small thing though "demesne" is pronounced "de-main", pedantic I know but it grates on me for some reason, other than that, which to be fair is anal on my part, nicely done.
