I just lost my previous version of this, grrr.
So I'll be brief.
I was plaing England In IGC 2.0, it was some time ago so I don't remember it well, sorry. But I think the situation in about ( I said it was long ago) 1560 was quite interesting
Beginning was usual, colonies in NA, economy and some savings for reformation troubles.
ah, there was a small war with France in which fortunatly I lost Calais to Navarra.
Then came the day when I turned protestant. And what? an Spain-Poland-Scotland-Ireland- and some minors alliance DOW me- remember it was 1520 or smtg. But I was not afraid ( partly due to huge sums in my royal treasury).
My colonels in Ireland managed to blitz enemy and I was able to annex it before spaniards arrived. for next 20 years it was mainly war of attrition (theirs, not mine). In england , Norfolk held Scots and captured Lothian, also before the arrival of allies, but then he barely was able to defend Marches, and the one time he lost, spaniards sieged London, and captured it - I recovered it about six! years later. BTW I was'n able to stop their landings becouse my fleet has diminished from attrition in my exploration expeditions earlier.
In colonies there was a war of colony hopping- I was fortified ones in Manhattan and Barbados, And some other in NA, Spain had carraibean.
(they didn't conquered Aztecs although they were waging war with them for many years, which I think is why they lost so miserably their war with me, but later), Aztecs managed even to conquer one of their colonies (guatemala or something)
Back to Isles. I was able to hold Marches and Lothian , even when they both were sieged. But eventually when My treasury was finally running empty (my manpower was 0 most of the time for many years already) spaniards stopped to make landings. I managed to make peace with allies, and already turned the tide of war in colonies. So I conquered and annexed long exhausted Scotland, and begin to send peace offers to Spain. But they refused, infortunately for them , as you will see. I noticed many rebellions, mainly in Low countries, but also in Spanish, and even their colonies. So I decided to help Dutch first. I sent small reconnaisance fleet, began buildin "Royal Expeditionary Corps" and transport fleet, also sent my colonial fleet ( most of it ) home. But I noticed that Dutch need no help-there were no Spanish forces, only rebels. So I set sail for Andalusia, as most of norhern Spain Already rebelled and I'm not going to fight spanish rebels. Remember it was alredy about thirty years since the beginning of the war, war discontent in Spain was huge, their stability low, coffins empy, taxes almost nonexistent, loans taken ( I think didn't checked) merchants droven out,Holland already independent (BTW did you ever seen independent and CATHOLIC Holland in 1540?). My situations was much better due to my high stability and tolerance, i had no rebellions ( almost a miracle) So I laid siege in Andalisia and elsewhere Antigua (finishing them off) captured it another province ne of Andalusia, and laid siege to gibralter, which I wanted in peace treaty. But I didn't sign a peace treaty. It was 156some, november when I finally (19) taken gibraltar, Because of Kalvin rebellions started to show up in England, so I started to worry.But few days later rebels overthrown goverment in Spain and guess what- This was a total catastrophe for Spaniards, I didn't know it works that way, but we "signed" a true status quo peace trety ie. I gained almost all their colonies ( all I have conquered) and three provinces in Spanish mainland, including Andalusia and Gibraltar. Also independet states of Aragon and Catalonia appeared. Spanish was totally crippled, reduced to half it's size in peninsula, lost Low Countries and colonies, even Aztecs gained one province. Well this was not total defeat, because granada didn't appeared (Sadly it werent in rebel hands).
So that IS partition of Spain
BTW it's some time after Kalvin, and Holland state religion still catholic, I think they won't have such huge colonial empire as usual
