Nope... We still need those ministers *somewhere* in the files if we want to instate them. Now, if you add them in some elections header, then they could trigger twice as described above. So the only option is to put them in the replacement pool. When they are then elected, they'll be in office.

If we carry this idea on, we need to include *ALL* ministers in the replacement pool and shouldn't have doubles within a same position.

Don't think in terms of ELECT A ELECT B ELECT C... We can only use existing text: meaning we can use the texts: ELECT CONSERVATIVE PARTY (UK's equal of elect right), ELECT LABOUR (UK's equal to elect left), ELECT RIGHT, ELECT LEFT, KEEP CURRENT GOVERNMENT.

As you can read above I have said that keep current gov must be kept for democratic countries because of the dissent.Well...not all countries will have elections Germany and Soviet won't have those..they are needed for the game to function as it does.I have been tinkling with the idea of having a democratic option in Germany but I let it fall so the player will have to use cheat to change the gov.(but for that I have actually pulled a lot of new minister replacements together....and you will have your democratic option in Austria too the first election in 1938 will be between Seyss-Inquart (NS gov)and Schussnigg (Austria remains PA)the second election in Austria will be between Renner and the commies and I will have to push that back to 1944 to give the player some time to change sides...here the Keep Current Gov is vital too.(actually I will have to use 1944 instead of 1945 for a lot of countries)

USA: Well the Speaker of the House is as I recall no.3 in the succession but has not really a lot of influence on the government politics. Trouble is that the USA do not have a Prime Minister and I guess the closest you actually will come to that is the Chief of White House Staff(usually a very powerful man)But the Presidency of the USA is so strong that I think it will be the best to keep the President as HOG too.

But this whole scheme is actually wonderful....for the first time we will really have the option to make all the changes in Eastern Europe and Italy happen.

(I should NOT have started with Albania though...that one is difficult....)
Birch... You really should *leave* the idea of how elections work now. The current elections effects are hardcoded (like the dissent minusses).

The new system would only use events... Events like there are many in game now. We would use existing event commands to appoint ministers at given times. We would be able to add no matter what other command to an election outcome. Want to add 10 dissent for example to an election outcome? No problem. Want to substract 5 dissent? 4? 7? You got it. Forget how it works now

Okay we will forget that now...If I want to add something special then I will write it to you... But you are going to love me by now as I've spent 8 more hours at Oxford but this time it really paid off.I got pics of all Albanian politicians from 1934 to 1946 (cabinet shots)

Normally you can't get pics from that archive(forbidden) but HyperSnap made sure of that.....

The trouble have been to place them within the Paradox political system, they really don't fit anywhere. They were all clan or clan members and if you sort of want to say that for example Shefki (the COS) was PA, forget it, he made it all the way to Hoxha...Frankly it would be the most simple to make them all PA but we can't do that.so now it is time for some creative thinking.

Lightbulb Just been struck by lightning

Yep that happens at time....I am sitting and fiddling with the Albanian list..and then it suddenly occured to me that you will have to delete the Shadow Govs too....because I have of course moved those in those files down to be replacements as well..so away with those, they will appear in the election scheme....

I really really hate Albania,it seems that I will need all 4 options + Keep Current Gov (in case someone wants to stick with Zog) for all the elections which will be in 39-42-44(ahh the 44 one will o down to 3)

Hmmm we would still need shadow cabinets in case nations are couped. Otherwise they'll all be shadows

Nope I don't think so.Have you ever been couped while playing a nation?....no,because the coup option are mainly there for the player and since the nation couped will never be seen except for cheating then it has no need any longer (except in the countries who won't have elections like Afghanistan)(and since the shadows now will appear in elections then they really has no need any longer)

Just sent Albania to you with 31 new pics election scheme and new csv.In that I have deleted the shadows (we can always put them in again if you think so)All are replacements now except for the starting gov. There are no doubles except in the cases where the minister took all options....

But it has occured to me that we will have a lot of replacements ministers in that last election when it is held although I have narrowed the options down considerably.

    Birch,

Could you send me PM with your e-mail? I've got some material concerning post-soviet nations (update to the rebelion file, basic ministers files, some background on leaders and so on).

The elections in Spain will need all options although I think that your 4 way option for Nat Spain is very interresting for the player
But each election can have only 3 options (right-left-same), or I'm misinformed? Wonderful if we can made a 4 option election for nat Spain, but I think we will need two tree-way elections (no problem with that, this way we can give Franco a second chance).

Well, if we can add side-effects, maybe we can settle at last that problem with Sanjurjo

If we simulate the elections using the event system, then we could have even a ten-options election (at least five options worked for me). And if we split that onto several events, we'll have hundreds of options...

The only limitations for the Paradox (not for the modders, like C.O.R.E. team, though) is the number of event_desc ready...

    Thanks.

Well, then the problem is that we only have three event_desc for an election ("Elect Right, Elect Left, Keep Gov"). It will not look neat if we mess them with other event_desc.

I'm taking a look in the event files searching for valid actionname codes. Some may work for special cases. For example that "bring them socialism!" or the "submit to the soviet pressure" may look nice for the "democracy or communism" Rep.Spain elections.
