But I haven't renumbered that file, which you will get in the next mail,it is a closed file. But you do know that there are a lot of files which will have to be renumbered still, just as the latest Japanese...for instance US will have to be reworked completely,so will Italy and France(air)(I'll change the event no's there)

Plus (and this is a goody) we still find new pics to close a lot more files, which again means renumbering (but these are for the minors though)

Why don't apply the idea we had to choose with Germany, simply not appointing any leaders and let the player do that stuff..as Great Britain and Soviet has been from the start.Yesterday I had to delete all the pre appointed Norwegians too due to the latest file...

Vulture, don't worry about the Bulgarian incs - I'll renumber them if needed
Birch, I hope we will change the Bulgarian leader file when I find more pictures - most of the leaders there now are post-1944 ones. I desperately need more leaders from the pre-1944 period for the incs and for the eventual including of the future events about the Bulgarian officer corps purges.

Now I'm not sure. Here's what I found after posting my last reply.

The Collins family from New Orleans not only had the very capable WW2 Lt. General -Joseph Lawton "Lightning Joe" Collins. But a second son as well: Major General James Lawton Collins.

The J.L. Collins listed in the usa.csv is listed as a Major General, but his pic is labeled "Collins_Joseph". Thats good old "Lightning Joe".

L.P. Collins is listed as a Lt. General with multi traits, and a skill level of 4, (someone you sure want on your team) but with a pic labeled Collins_Lawton. hmmmm. That could be either James or Joseph. (You getting as confused as much as I).

"L.P. Collins" above may well be Leroy Pierce Collins, a Brigadier General who sat out the second half of the war in Northern Ireland.

    My conclusion is:
    1. Change the name Collins L.P. to Collins Joseph. That would give "Lightning Joe" the correct rank, skill and traits.

    2. Change Collins J.L. to Collins James and change his pic to one of the no picture available. (I couldn't find a pic of him online.)

    Warlimont
Darn Collin's... Well as said I haven't done those collins, but I think it should be quite easy to find those pics on the web again (they are not mine) when I'm successfull in that, then I will know who is who.As you can see on the above postings Warlimont there are other mistakes in the US file (I have actually found a couple more myself...and that is why I have written in the where are now that the US file is under reconstruction.I knew we would have to do that

But please don't get me wrong.I really appreciate all the help I can get,but as you can guess it is a little difficult answering something you haven't been working with yourself... (all I actually ever has done on that file was finding more pics)

Perhaps I should add that although the www.generals.dk site also has faults in it,the owner of that site has actually been of invaluable help, not only is he my countryman,he has also supplied a few pics.and best of all he is a well know librarian who of course has worldwide links I have used shamelessly.... But since you started noticing this I have looked into it a little myself although I'm at the moment is working on other files (US is scheduled next week... and I'm a little puzzled by this.:

    Collins H.J.;60124;USA;3;0;1;0;5;0;collins_harry_j_usa;x
    Collins J.F.;60125;USA;2;0;2;0;5;0;wood_johnS_usa;x
    Collins J.L.;60126;USA;2;21;4;0;5;0;collins_joseph_usa;x
    Collins L.P.;60127;USA;3;0;1;0;5;0;collins_lawton_usa;x

Notice the pic name for Collins JF...it begins to look for me as there is one Collins too many here. But I will as said have to find the original pics to determine that.and one more thing it is certainly not me who has applied the traits to JL... seems a bit of a overkill.

Another thing I noticed is that in my pic file I have a pic named collins_joseph1. Now this is one of mine which actually implies that at a certain time I must have been aware that there was something wrong here.(that one clearly implies btw that they are different)

weeellllll...not all or most...some of the pics are post44... and yes we can always replace pics. The actual purges is more likely to be CORE stuff,as we can't apply events but as said in the future we will make elections to apply the more historical development. This will in Europe mainly consider 4 countries Bulgaria.Hungary,Italy and Romania...and should as I expect result in looooonnnng discussions.... but should also make it a little more difficult for the German player(if applied correctly)

I'll give you an example Hungary:In my notes I have an election set for 1943 making Szilasi leader(fascist gov)this is in 1944 changed to dem/comm gov by elections again and in 45 or 46 to commie gov.which should lead Hungary to leave the fascist coalition and join the Reds... which again should lead to a German war against Hungary (as in real life) The only problem in this is that the years cannot be the correct ones as we can't simulate the actual events without actually making events and Paradox don't like that...

What I mean by that is that we can't held multiple elections in the same year,we will have to stick to one election(electionevent)per year.

Bulgaria will be even more difficult as that will have to include the democratic options too..the coalitions..the slide towards fascism and finally the commie takeover.

But Birch I'm not talking about the pictures - nearly 100% of those I have found and sent to you were made in the HOI period. I'm talking about the names. You see when I have searched for them in the books it was easier to find the 1944-45 leaders as their pictures were in many books from the communist period of my country (i.e. these leaders photos were politically acceptable to publish). But in the current file there are only 15-20 picture of pre-1944 leaders, that are extremely hard to find, and having in mind that the game is in 1936-1947 period I think we need more of them. Curently we even lack half of the Army commanders from the 1936-1944 period We can scrap some of the post 1944 leaders if you need to keep the total quantity of the leaders in the file.
The Bulgarian officer corps was purged four times - in 1935-36 after the unsuccessful military coup many officers were dismissed (some were reinstated in 1944), in 1939-1941 these who opposed the allignment to the Axis were also removed, in 1944 the High command was again purged (Killed, imprisoned, escaped to Turkey, Germany, etc.) and former partisans, also Bulgarians that served as officers in the Soviet army (these were many - even two Major-Generals) and former coupers from 1934 (many of these were part of the Fatherland front - the later consisted of communist, LWR, agrarians and the officers group "Zveno") took over the army. That leaves us with a lot of names...but photos are still missing although I have located some 10-15 more...We'll see what I'll manage to find in the National library - they certainly had the neccessary sources, but scanning books there is quite problematic

Birch I sent you a bunch of pictures I found in some "memoir" books in the library. I could have gotten more if I was allowed to borrow them, one of them had pictures of every regiment of one of the army groups, but the quality (of the picture) was extremely low so it was all but impossible to photocopy them...

From the Library - part 1

Birch - some proposals to complete the Bulgarian ministers file

Currently we lack only the Heads of Military Intelligence - Bulgaria

Stefan Noikov;NA;PA; Logistics Specialist; High; no picture
    Ilija Baltov;36;CE;Industrial Specialist;Med; no picture
Nikola Kostov;40;FA;Dismal Enigma; Very High; no picture
(this one should be also included in the Shadow Fascist Government - he was à minister in the Tzankov's government in exile in Vienna in 1944-45).
Stefan Nedev;43;PA;Political Specialist; Low; no picture
Andrei Pramatarov;41;PA;Political Specialist; High; no picture
Hristo Tumbin;40;PA;Unidstinguished Suit; Very High; no picture
Sava Kutsarov;44;PA; Political Specialist; High; no picture
Ivan Vinarov;36;ST;Dismal Enigma;High; picture available - will scan it soon - I suggest to include this one in the shadow communist government.
    Asen Lekarski;44;RS;Political Specialist;Low; no picture
    Ivan Ikonomov;44;LC;Undistinguished Suit;High;No picture
    Petar Vranchev;45;LE;Naval Intelligence Specialist;Low;no picture

Alas, no pictures for now - will continue searching.

Lots of 1944-45 propaganda - let's hope I will find something earlier next time.
