    This is my second AAR. I decided to alter the GC Campaign to allow me to be Iraq. I wish I could have added Screen shots . Unfortunately I dont quite understand the process yet.The Screenshots are on my hard-drive, but we dont know how to get them from there to on here. But if anyone knows lemme know so I can update this .

    1492-1517 {Internal problems}

    It was 1492, and I had assumed the reigns of power over the tiny nation of Iraq. Iraq was is in piss poor shape when I got it . Three poor provinces called Kirkuik, Iraq, and Basrah. The army was in no condition for a fight.Only 5,000 troops and 5,000 cavarly under amatuer leadership. With the ever expanding Persians to the east, and the upstart Malamukes to the west. I figured that I would have to play the role of "Good boy" and not go to war. I figured, as long as I did not iniate a conflict, I had nothing to worry about.However I could already see that the Shiite Minority in Bashra were trouble makers. Already they had rebeled against my rule and had claimed Bashrah independant bye storming her fort. I immediately sent the Army , which was still in piss poor shape, to the province. Both sides engaged, it was bloody and it went down to the last man. With only 529 survivors, I felt lucky to be able to have defeated there army and could now lay siege to there fort. I immediately Built a 9,000 man army in Kirkuik and sent him south. Soon the fort was retaken, and the province back in my hands. However I did not raise my Shiite tolerance. And for good reason, I want them to revolt so eventually they will change there religon 50 years down the road. I was right, they revolted again in 1499 and in 1504. Both were quelled bye the better built Iraqi army. Which had Bloated to 35,000 troops and some 20 cannons.

    1517-1541 {Progress, Peace, and Wealth}

    In 1518, Iraq had gathered 5 Merchants. Within days we placed them in Alexandria and they gained a quick monopoly in the C.O.T. In 1521 we decided too promote Baliffs in all Iraqi provinces. This helped emmensly to bring in more gold. Soon, yet another monopoly was established in Venice this time. Things were looking good. We set out to upgrade Iraqi forts. and began promoting legal counsels in all provinces. But somthing caught my eye, in 1532 the Shiite scum had seeped through the Iraqi border and established there religon in Kirkuik, Syria, and aleppo. I realized this would be a huge problem. More alarming was news that Nubia and Malemukes went to war. Both were good friends and I was allied with Nubia. For now I continue my feeding my robust economy which continues to boom, despite 4% inflation. Despite this I continued my unstoppable climb to Super-power in the middle east. In 1538 Persia attacked and annexed 2 turkish province.I thought it would be a good time to attack, but i abstained. Opting, instead to build up my army in Iraq too 50,000 men.

    War with the Persian Ozzies 1545-1552

    It was inevitable Persia and Iraq would got to war. Shiite had spread to Kirkuik and revolts became a monthly occurance. I decided to take decisive action. And in March 1545 an Iraqi army of 30,000 troops and 40 cannons attacked the neighboring persian province of Awhaz. After a brief fight for the fortress the province was taken and the Iraqi army moved on towards Hamad. There a better fort was encountered and the Iraqi Army was repulsed at its doorstep. Tho Nubia declined to join my war effort. Cyrenaca did and soon I could see a small fleet amassing on there shores. Meanwhile the Persians began building up a massive army in Tabriz. From what I saw it was 60,000 strong and growing. After 2 months of stalemate, the army assaulted the fortress once again. Yet again, they were repulsed.Then the Persian army began to move south. And it engaged an Iraqi army of 25,000 men 6,000 cavalry and 35 cannons. Unfortunately the iraqi army was completly destroyed. Leaving the entire region to the Persian Ozzies. The Persians then split into 2 and moved on Kirkuik and Awhaz. Both provinces fell to the immoral ozzies. But bye this time, an Iraqi army of 18,000+20 cannon had been built. It was hoped we could atleast, drive them out of Iraqi province of Kirkuik. But the Persians then layed seige to Basrah. I was shocked, concerned, and horrified as now 2 huge armys were in the north and south of Iraq. Fortunately Basrah did not fall and the Persians were forced back. for the next 8 months very little happened. The persians attacked with a few 1-4k armys but the bulk of there troops did not move on the remaining 2 Iraqi Provinces. As a result in 1547 we attacked once again. After several loans, Iraqi armed forces had bloated to a Huge strength. Almost 40,000 infantry 3,000 cavalry and 30 cannons. Soon the Iraqi armed forces launched operation Retribution. A drive which promised to take them to Ishafan COT. However, upon retaking Awhaz the drive stalled and the army prepared for a Persian counter-Attack. That attack came and the army was thrust back into Basrah once again . After some calm the persian army renewed its assault on Basrah in 1548. The 17,000 survivors of operation retribution put up a splended fight and repulsed the 32,000 man Persian army. Once again there was a considerable calm. For almost an entire year the Persians did nothing. And we continued our build up of troops, despite rising inflation. Once again in january 1550 the Iraqi army launched 'Operation Tabriz'. This time on Hamad, hoping to take the province and move up to Tabriz. The army at its zenith. With 12,000 Cavalry 32,0000 infantry and 110 cannons. They layed siege to Hamad but the army conducted themselves poorly. As a result a couterattack bye Persian ozzies pushed us back once again . After more calm a large persian army attempted a push on Irak , the capitol of Iraq! After wiping out 15,000 troops they layed seige to the capitol. However, it was not to be, as survivors of 'Operation Tabriz' regrouped and counter attacked. In 1551 Persia offered peace annexing Kirkuik. I had no choice but to accept. Iraq was broken and we had to default on 2 bank loans already. However on 2 different occasions in 1543 Hostilitys broke out again. But they were confined to kirkuik. After a brief attempt to retake the province, I ceded that it was lost. And white peace was made.

    War with Oman 1554-1555

    The Iraqi navy, which had never showed itself in any strength. Consisted of 2 Frigates and 2 Transports. It was not used during the Persian war. But in 1554 Oman attacked Iraqi settlers on the island Qatar. As a result the navy along with some troops quickly retook the island. However Iraqi, navy was attacked bye a superior Oman navy and a Frigate was lost. After a brief 6 month war, white peace was signed. But the mood was still sour.

    Western Invasion of 1567

    After several years of picking up the peices of the disasterous persian war. Iraq had re-establish itself to somwhat of former glory. But she was still little match for Persia and Malemukes. Strangely enough after the Treaty of Tordesallies The spanish and her allies began what seemed to be a huge conquest of Africa. Tunisia,Triploli, Cyrenaca, and Alexandria had all fallen to Spain. And in 1567 Spain and Venice launched an enduring attack that would bring them to my borders. From what I saw, the entire coast was taken from the malemukes. Venice armys moved into syria and bye the end of 1569 I recieved a message stating 'Malemukes have been annexed bye Spain' I could not understand how they could manage such a feat. But Spain and venice did and now they were at my borders. Fortunately there love boat did not last long, because Venice went Reformed in 1572.

    2nd and last persian war

    Bye 1580 the persians had attacked once again. This time, there was little I could do. Inflation had reached 67% due to my hands being in the treasury. And the Ozzies butchered Basra in a matter of a month. There army of 40,000 soon moved north to Iraq. In a desparate attempt to hold back the Oz. I sent the Iraqi Navy and a small expedition to Ishafan. Both were lost and the navy retreated back to Qatar. Irak was now under siege. All of Iraq was at the mercy of Persia. Soon enough the Persians took the capitol and there navy captured my Qatar Province. And that was the end of my Iraq

    My total VP points were 147 and I ended up in 6th place. However I woudnt recommend playing Iraq . There problems seems to be that they are wedged between 3 Super-powers. And the fact that Iraqs economy is real bad. No matter how much fine tuning is done. Military operations are hard to mount. Especially against the larger Persians. Its position is a hard one. But unless you can draw the turks in on your side, you wont be able to do much

    Just create your own site in Geocities (its free). Put your screenshots on your site. Then, give link to that site. Simple, isn't it?

    Nice AAR. Interesting nation to play. Man, you sure had a hard time, even without Turkey getting involved! For a revenge on Persia, try the Mughul Empire. They're close by and have an army of 300,000 to start with (no kidding here).

    BTW

    There's another thread in the AAR-section about a site solely for screenshots of EU. Check that one out too.

    don't fret over the persian pounding
    i had something similar happen when i first played as iraq
    not sure, but either you gotta take it real slow in the game, find a real strong ally, or pick on one of the smaller guys, because iraq starts out economically, militarily, and diplomaticaly lacking
    also, i would suggest not persecuting the shiites because if you do end up expanding, you'll just end up with more of them
    plus low tolerance will hurt relations with persia and mamelukes, which may not be the best of things because you may want to foster good relations with one while fighting the other
    anyways,keep it up, and don't be afraid to try again
