Biography: Twenty years past, the nordic paragon Ainikki battled the forces of the dark at the Golden City. She was a queen then, and was beloved by few. Her story made her choose between sides constantly, and scheme her way to protection.. For her perceived cowardness, many in the Norse called her the Bitch Queen, for she submitted to Ulfric, King of the Nords.. An werewolf. Despite this, she kept her daughters safe, and tried to ensure her own personal sanity. Always a troubled woman, she finally agreed to go to war with her husband Ulfric(after many fights), despite her objections. There they both died freeing the world, but barely any recongnition was given towards her now motherless daughters.

Left without stepfather or mother, the girls split, the elder two going to Galadriel, the younger twins traveling about wherever they could find. Kalevala found refuge within the Queen's court, a friend of her mother, she and her sister Alexandria spent a handful of years there in the Elven lands, staying in exile as their mother's lands were conquered.. Eventually, Nienna found a match for Kalevala, in Wilhelm, Duke of Saxon. However, Alexandria complained, despite this, they married.. However, a marriage with a southron could not be accepted, so the two split, with Kalevala retreating further south, her parallel going north to retake the fortress her ancestors built with blood.

The younger of the two, Ashilla and Asoka, were twins, and always the closest. They spent sometime in Galadriel with their sisters, until they toured the lands of the light, making a ruckus and having fun with each other. Their stories are untold, no one quite knowing what happened on their adventures, after fifteen years of travelling, they were finally beat. They yearned for home, and both agreed to retreat back to Alexandria's lands, who had fought teeth and nail to retake her mother's previous vassalage in the north.

The girls all agreed, along with the Magus and Steward(Davok Carace), that Kalevala should be proclaimed rightful Queen of the North, and she rule the fortress... Their sister still remains in Saxon, fearing her heritage, wanting to simply be a Southron, despite the wishes of her sisters. Despite this, Alexandria rules in her name, and will stop at nothing until the other clans kneel.

Issue: Princess Anwën (20), Princess Narien (19), Princess Lindarel (5) of Ecclestius and the Green Chasm

Bio:

Short Character Description

Eylinn has ruled the chasm for 24 years, and as a veteran from the war of darkness, spent a great deal of her time either defending her realm from its presence, and repairing the ripples of its destructive wake. She has become a patient, meticulous ruler, but remain the unwavering compassionate and humble woman she was brought up to be. She never title herself, she curtsies frequently, and address men as "milord" to emphasize her stature in the Green Chasm's patriarchal atmosphere. The questions that used to surround her in her youth regarding her gender has wavered, however, from her participation in the war against the Dark, her affinity to the Light and the powers of Barumin's flame, her family's magic that brings the Mindrilla's blood slightly hotter and the fire, ice and thunder it hailed over the enemy when magic returned to the world.

Yet under her kind and joyous façade, lies a woman with a deeper melancholy. A stormy marriage, and a thorny gruesome past, has taken its toll on her psyche. There is only in battle and swordplay that she remain fully calm, an art she has demonstrated to be, to say the least, formidable at. Her dilligence, discipline, and knowledge in the art of war, as well as her tendency for appointing a chain of command on meritocratic terms, has all shown evidence of a brilliant tactician and warrior.
She is fiercely devoted to her family and kin, and dangerously protective of her children's well being, having been seen to go great lengths to protect them from even the possibility or faint chance of harm. Her belief in the goodness of all people has both led her to ruin, and to great victories in the past. It is the Maegi that gave her the title of "The Redeemer", however intended as an insult, is a nickname Eylinn would much encourage.

The Dark Wars Chronicle

35xs.png

Eylinn ascended the throne of Luríen at the age of 16, being locked in by the nobles along with her sister Evhana awaiting the council's recognition. Her first venture to the Golden City was a trial for the young Mistress, not even daring to enter the great halls of the council. Still, she decided to follow on the quest to uproot the secrets surrounding the necromancer living in Highathar, coming into her first taste of real battle after being trained by the mercenary Alvon's masterful swordsman since the age of 10. The venture was a failure, bringing only minor intelligence of the necromancer's intent and weaknesses, costing the lives of several lords, a sight that would have profound impact on the unexperienced warrior she was.

Eylinn's seemingly endless compassion and vain naïvety would again clash with her duty as a ruler when during the coming councils the slave trade of the Elves was bartered over in terms to accomplish cohesion and peace. Her ingrained distain for this chattel drove her to much hopeless sorrow, and immeasurable fury. After ridding Galadriel of the Corpus together with Jarl Alfödr Frostsverd of the Pale and the Celestians, halting its spread to the east, she came under the influence of Qylan whom persuaded her to war over the matter of slavery for good. Following his lead, the now Therain of Green Chasm sieged Alameria and captured shah Asad, a member of the triumvirate that sought to seize the Golden City, whom she quickly released along with a score of Elven slaves. This act of mercy and benevolence would soon be her trademark, and inspired the shah to end slavery throughout his lands.

After Qylan had revealed himself as a thrall of the Dark One, Eylinn was distraught, having lost a fatherly figure where her own had so sorely been lacking. As the lords of Light gathered in Azeratii to council over the state of affairs, Eylinn nominated herself as commander over the Light Forces that would march against the Basin, after revealing to have seen the Dark One himself through the seeing stones the Lords had been bestowed, warning them to use the vile artifacts. She won the title, to as much to her own surprise as to many others, where women are rarely seen as leader of men, and more unlikely, lords. It was during these times that Eylinn bonded strongly with the coming queen of Elves, Nienna, and Lord Wilhelm Saxon, as well as betrothing Jarl Alfödr's son Freyr.

The forces of Light was, however, overwhelmed by the power of the Dark, unprepared for its horrors and its vast size. After the first battle, it would seem the now spectral Ra'Gru had been involuntary captured by her soldiers after the battle, and mocked her from his cell before vanishing with what was either a warning or a threat. During the battles of the Basin, Eylinn was later infected by Qylan, and doomed to die from his horrible discease. In a vain grasp of hope, she followed on a quest to Wallachia in order to retrieve an amulet from the mysterious count Vlad. There she would learn there was no cure, and she commanded her guardian to ensure her rest would be eternal when life had left her. On her death bed, the traitour Ra'Gru visited her for the second time and gave her the amulet he had taken from Vlad after murdering him before her eyes earlier that evening. Alvon, loyal to the bone, had refused her command, and left her with the amulet in the woods to rise from the dead.

Burdened by thirst and melancholy, Eylinn set out on a journey to find a cure, or the root of the evil which had taken her. During her darkest moment, however, the Light One approached her in disguise, and set her upon a path to first find herself and then her goal. She traveled to Dreagon's lands, and was set to find a weapon for his undoing. After a harrowing duel with the demi-God, Eylinn managed to plunge the dagger into his chest, and held his hand through his passing. With their final words, Dreagon forfeits the Dark veil and is allowed to pass through his unsullied Elven form.

After returning to the Light, and taking back the reins of the Chasm, Eylinn are again visited by Ra'Gru. Their relationship intensifies as Eylinn had foolowed on her promise, and taken wardship of his son Varian to protect the boy from the increasingly zealous Celestian's, which held Ra'Gru and his offspring in particularly high distain. Garhold Quicksilver is sent by him to guard the Eylinn and the child, an act she found curious considering her past accomplishments, but begins a warm friendship that surprises the considerably older Dwelf. After Eylinn's sister Evhana are impregnated by him, the marriage was seen as the only redeeming option for the circumstances, loitering the reputation of the Therain, and undoubtedly spurred rumours of her still being under the Dark One's curse afterall. Still, Eylinn decides to vouch for Ra'Gru as he returns from the Light, and announce their immediate betrothal, as she was desperate to hurry it before bearing his child would show.

However, the joys of betrothal would not last long, as Ra'Gru in a fickle of ambition travels to Azeratii to claim the kingdom of Ecclestius on behalf of his son, bestowed the title of crown prince. Eylinn now in lieu to be a princess of Men, is distraught and felt betrayed, seeking the comfort of Jacob, the Light Bringer, who had harboured great feelings for her ever since the cure of vampirism. Still, Eylinn was now able to lead the Light for a second time, and would not lose a battle from hereafter. The Light was able to liberate Hroniden, a small comfort as the Darkness encroached from seemingly every part of the realm. She gave birth to her first child, Anwën, in Mutikabir, the capitol of a man she had waged war 2 years earlier. In the remaining months before the cataclysm of the Golden City, Eylinn is plagued by depression as she discovers to have become queen after Asharian's sudden passing. The greed of gold seemed to have weighed higher for her husband than her, and from the scraps of sanity, she rides off to continue the campaign against the Dark as the situation would become even more hopeless.

While still trying to mend her frail psyche, in a suite of bad omens, she lose her guardian Alvon, and Deagrin Wrothiron who she had come to view as a paternal figure, to the Dark One, as well as having revealed for her the doom which will befall Jacob after he had sworn into her service, at nearly the same time. While having devoted to remain faithful to her husband, she was persuaded by Jacob to sire his child, and keep it in secrecy under guise of being Ra'Gru's, or else see the line of Ecclestiaties undone, and the world be perished if the Dark One would re-emerge.

At the battle of the Golden City, Eylinn relinquish her title as marshal of the Light, to stand equal in rank with all other lords upon the last battle to unleash Jacob's spell. She is assigned the flank of attacking the Serpent Gate, and after a bloody battle, is able to gain the Light a foothold by the waterside. Their was being surrounded, and the situation dire, yet the lords of Light was able to escort Jacob to the inner sanctum where he would lure the Dark One nigh and cast the spell. In the last battle between the Lords, Eylinn strikes down Kvothe Kalare, and breaks into tears as Jacob is ripped from life by the ward.

With the world now finally safe, Eylinn brace to spend her remaining days in Azeratii and rid of war, but not before escorting her people back home, which she had safely evacuated before the Dark One roared over Galadriel. Upon returning to the Chasm, Eylinn is struck with endless grief as she cradles her eldest daughter in her arms. It's then that the Light One approach her again revealing himself, now assuring her the pain has not been in vain, for such simple reasons as the newborn innocence she was harbouring in her embrace. After settling back in Luríen and replanting the great tree which had been her family's seat for hundreds of years, Eylinn planted the garden of Light, with a rose for every fallen soul and a tree for every fallen Lord, be them Light or Dark.

It was in this ritual, and burrowing the seeds of life deep into her peoples soil, that despite her burdens, sufferings, with the magic and talents she had cultivated in the means of destruction, that she finally sensed that she could really, truly, be free at last, and leave all death behind her and truly start living. And perhaps even find happiness in the end.

Evhana Mindrilla

Government: Feudal Monarchy
Prominent Demographic: Mirrorwater Elves (Trade focus that boost network of intrigue, Lower levies)
Terrain: River and Coastal forest
Issue: Garhold Elu (†), Cacame Mindrilla
Spouse: Prince Elessar of house Coamenel

Bio:

Short Character Description

Evhana is outwards a pleasant, frail, and gentle regent, said to be even more beautiful than her sister of renown. Her persistent smile, and courteous formal speech, and unarming intelligence, with her dilligent and unending work for her people and the realm has given her the nickname "The White Therain" by the common folk in Mirrorwater.

Under the surface, however, lies a cold, calculous mind, of unending sinister thought, rid of empathy and emotion. She is careful in her treating with her vast network of spies and contacts, ensuring that chain is maintained and remain strong, personally eliminating any possible threat to its integrity, and with no interrogation used without extensive, questionable, and gruesome torture. She is highly versed in poisons, knows of every weakness and sensitive joint in a person's anatomy, and her mind ever seek new ways to manipulate her enemies, and sometimes even friends.

While seemingly the very opposite of her sister, who are the only one alive that fully know the extent of Evhana's grim nature, she still share a few traits with Eylinn. First, she is fiercely devoted to her family, and to her secret lover the queen. To such an extent she is, that even the whisper of harm is a whisper Evhana will be quick to silence without remorse. Second, she is unambitious, and view pride as an enemy of the commoners, whom she toil to excruciating extents to serve.

The Dark Wars Chronicle

Evhana's birth was shrouded in sorrow, as her mother passed shortly after from complications. Her father would always blame her for the mother's death, allowing the young girl to freely pursue the interests which peaked her curiosity. Deep delved into books and history, as well as cultivating the fine arts, Evhana's only guardian was her older sister, a person she would find herself dependent and needing to impress and support in return. But all the normal joys of childhood was lacking in her, something that drove her uneasy and resentful. Evhana never enjoyed playing, never enjoyed dancing, couldn't understand the humour of jokes and jests, or even understand what concepts such as "care" or "love" even mean. She viewed the people at court like a child would study a flock of ants, analysing their patterns, and analysing their thoughts. She knew herself that this wasn’t normal. She also knew that she didn’t care.

Evhana took over the reins of the Chasm when she was 14, as Eylinn was presumed dead from Qylan's curse. Even before this knowledge she used her impressive network of informants to keep the regency under her own control while her sister was out at war. But the longer Eylinn was away from home, the more time her vassals had to plot for her removal, and to fatten their own pockets with gold. In a last dire attempt to stop a coup, Evhana had the major vassal family of the Mindrillas, the Lóethmirs of the North Chasm, seized and subsequently murdered by her own hand.

In order to escape possible suspicion of the deed, Evhana fled to Coal to stay out of the courts reach, as well as assuring the newly crowned Nienna of the Chasms fealty to the new queen. Evhana felt a strange attraction to the young queen, one she would first confuse with the urge to destroy her. However, the murderous intent turned to an urge for passion, and in a year the two was becoming intimately acquainted. A secret affair, that has, with only one period of exception, been lasting ever since.

During her exiled reign, Evhana oversaw a number of successful policies and actions for the Chasm and Galadriel, soon earning her the title of "Nightshade" and responsible for the kingdom's intelligence. She uprooted the Elven genocide in the North, spotted the tracks of Zephfer for the Light armies, and contributed to the many sabotage missions and the "disappearance" of local agents from other realms in Coal, clearly proving to be a much more capable ruler than her sister.

After her sister's return from the dead, Evhana was distraught to find that Eylinn was returning to lead the Elven armies in the war yet again. Her logical conclusion was that her sister would soon perish, and that she herself wore the whole responsibility to ensure her family's survival. She allowed the Dwelf Garhold Quicksilver to court her, suggesting they should produce a child. Having no illusions of maintaining honour, Evhana didn’t care for asking for Eylinn's approval, whom surprisingly stressed the two should marry. After this, Evhana's focus shifted, determined to spread her dynasty to Yurdaest instead. With the marriage, and for her services to the realm, Evhana was appointed Therain of Mirrorwater by the queen to be upheld as a wedding gift.

Evhana encouraged her new husband to retake the castle from his father, careful to manipulate his mind in such a way that he would think her great concern for his well being was the source of her grieving him about taking caution, while she came up with a plan for him to claim it with the least possible risks.

However, Quicksilver was plagued with hauntings of the Dark One, and after being nearly killed by him, felt the first suite of true horror she had ever felt. She took all that blame upon herself, and projected it into not being good enough a spouse, and emulated as such the role of a truly subserviant wife. In the process, she gained strength, and from the shame she had brought upon her posture, she found her way back to claim power in the relationship. She urged Quicksilver to draw closer his many bastards to their family's fold, where she could hold a firm gaze over them, to ensure her own children would be safe in the line of succession to the mountain home.

Indeed, the betrothal between his bastard daughter Shem'Lah and prince Elessar of house Coamenel was something Evhana could not tolerate. To Evhana, the strength of such a union would have jeopardized her own sons inheritance should Shem'Lah had chosen to claim hers, and thus Evhana poisoned the half Orc, even as she was with child, and then convinced the Queen to have Elessar betrothed to her instead. After the Golden City had fell, and she had burnt the embarrassing will Quicksilver had left behind, her immediate action was to travel to Yurdaest to cement her son Elu's claim on Yurdaest with Deagrin Benthorn, who in his vulnerable position felt no choice but to agree to the controversial heir.

The Kingdom of Ecclestius, its landscape, history and Kings

Landscape
The Kingdom of Ecclestius is the largest Kingdom on the continent and the one which possess the most fertile lands and the highest population. The lands of Ecclestius has often been referred to as a breadbasket, providing plenty of food to the surrounding regions, support the Emperors’ armies with grain for their campaigns and for the support of the population within the old capital, the Golden City. The general landscape of Ecclestius is flat, there are however several hills across the land but no mountains outside the region of Wallachia. Ecclestius also have several rivers, allowing plenty of fertile fields, the largest of these are what the Ecclestians themselves calls the Luran.

There are several cities in the Kingdom of Ecclestius, the largest being the capital, Azeratii, which is located in the south. North of is the province of Wolfen, known for the wolf pelts which has been produced for centuries. Further north are the cities of Saxon and Three Rivers. The further east you go towards the Kingdom of Hroniden, the more warm it becomes. It is also notable for being covered in more sand than the rest of Ecclestius. A very central thing that Ecclestius lacks is however the lack of mountains, and therefore a lack of minerals, as such the region of Wallachia carries great importance within Ecclestius.

The Great Families of Ecclestius:
The great families of Ecclestius consist of four different families, the Krestarii, Wolfen, Saxon and Celestians.

The Krestarii is the Royal family that rules Ecclestius, they have ruled for 23 years since being granted the Ecclestian Crown by the Assembly of Light. They rule from the Capital city of Azeratii, furthermore they rule several lands around the Kingdom, including Varanu and Wallachia. They are the most powerful family in the Kingdom and control a vast amount of land. The dynasty has over the last few decades grown, and has gathered influence in several Kingdoms, King Ares marriage to Eylinn Mindrilla has formed a strong bond between the two families, further extending connections between the Royal House of Krestarii and the Elven royal house of Coamenel. The Royal house of Ecclestius has so far produced three monarchs, the first being King Asharian, followed by King Aras, whereupon his death was succeeded by King Varian.

The house of Saxon is often referred to as the second most powerful house in Ecclestius, this is largely owing back to a friendship with house Krestarii going back three generations. It is a relationship which is still strong, with the friendship between King Varian and Lord Friedrich, with Lord Friedrich being nicknamed the Second Prince due to his influence and friendship with the King, Friedrich himself being the heir apparent of the duchy of Saxony. The Saxon family is also an older family, having ruled their lands for generations, going as far back as the other old families. They have always been a strong support of house Krestarii, and has managed to produce some of the Kingdom’s best and seasoned warriors it possessed, they have also provided several veteran generals from the Dark wars, most notably Wilhelm, the Duke of Saxony.

The house of Wolfe is best known for their wolves and their pelts, after the ascension of King Ares and the new way of the court, their pelts export increased dramatically. The current reigning Duke is Matthew Wolfe who has proved a competent diplomat, able to unite many different factors during the Dark wars, and since then proved to be a good ruler.

The Celestians are the ones with perhaps the most mixed reputation, their rulers known as fanatic, lust filled, lunatic, evil, righteous. It all depends on whom you ask, in their own province it is unlikely that you will hear criticism, outside however it is not unheard of. They are known for burning the allies of the Dark upon fires erected for the purpose. They themselves claim that they have never burned any innocent man or woman, the neighboring lands however might not agree. Due to this their reputation has become known, some called it a fitting end when the Duke, Justinus Celestian, was burned alive by the fiery breath of the Dark Lord Zephfer during the first battle for Galadriel.

Ecclestius during the Age of Empire
Ecclestius was a large province named in the honour of Ecclesiasties and his descendants. It became the primary lands controlled by the Emperors of the Golden Empire which was subsequently formed by the children of Ecclesiasties. It was a land of plenty, and as such it was a province which had no dire needs. The Emperors generally had a large amount of loyalty among the people of Ecclestius, and a unity formed between the people with many Ecclestians seeing themselves as superior to the other Kingdoms.

This also led to the large slave trade which could be seen across most of Ecclestius, with Azeratii being the main port and city for slaves. Slaves would be brought in from across the Empire, Nords for hard work, Hronidens for working on the fields, other Imperials for both. Female Elves would often prove to be the most expensive slaves, as they fueled the extensive slave sex trade, the only race not affect by slavery, both working in and taken was Orcs, out of fear for their natural strength and size.

It however began to change in year 700 when Emperor Argrus III usurped the crowns of the Empire, causing great unrest among the vast lands in the Empire. The remainder of his reign being spent crushing revolts, when he finally died and his son Kytos I took over, it left many with a hope of peace. It would however be shortly lived as Kytos called for even greater control, resulting in more unrest. This lasted until the year 1000 when Emperor Essos II abdicated and took his own life, officially ending the Imperial line.

Following the death of Essos II, ArchMage Qylan and High Steward Mathlion declared the Empire at an end and removed all oaths of fealty and ordered the gathering of the Assembly of Light. This left the lands of Ecclestius in the hands of many families, and resulted in many different powerplays including the War of the Triumvirate, which included several dynasties which are now royalty, including the Krestarii and the Ayyubid of Hroniden.

Eventually the Crown of Ecclestius was given to Asharian Krestarii who was declared the first King of the Kingdom of Ecclestius in the year 1001.

The Dark Wars:
Following the betrayal at the assembly of Light, the Dark Wars had officially begun. Ecclestius was often seen as the head base for the Light, it was in Azeratii Palace that the first meeting of the light was called which elected Eylinn Mindrilla as the Commander of the Light.

Ecclestius was not the primary scene for the Dark Wars, and as such there was little of event. Unlike Hroniden which faced several invasions, Galadriel which was invaded twice over by the Dark Lord Zephfer and eventually the Dark One himself, and the Norseland which devolved into civil war which saw Ulfrik crowned as King.

That however doesn’t mean that there weren’t events of attack, such as a false report of attack during the trials of Qylan and Jacob, which saw the former assassinated by the Celestians, with several rumours that King Asharian had been involved, or at least given his blessing, this also resulted in the armies of Ecclestius often being away. However it woudnt last forever before the first attack came when the Dark General Birch sailed to Azeratii and sacked the province, destroying parts of the city that since has been rebuilt. The most known casualty during the sacking of Azeratii was the death of Crown Prince Jutarian.

Ecclestius eventually became a safe haven when the other Kingdoms fell, which resulted in Azeratii Palace becoming the home of many Royals during the final days of the Dark Wars.

The Age of Crowns:
Following the defeat of the Dark One, and the sacrifice of Jacob, the Age of Crowns began. At this time King Asharian had passed away and been succeeded by his adoptive son Ares. King Ares was a war veteran from the Dark Wars, and was known to the Kingdom, including his biggest secret which was known among the most important families within Ecclestius.

The lands of Ecclestius has had peace since the Age of Crowns began, but there has been two events which has occurred which is of note. The first is the riot in Azeratii City during year four when a brawl resulted in an outright riot as it spread from street to street until the royal guards was able to put it down after several days of fighting.

The second event was the rebellion of nobles in year nine. Following many reforms implemented by Lord Rodney, severe opposition began, Rodney however was able to keep it under control and maintain many of the nobles, managing to arrest them in the start of the revolt. The main revolt was in the South West of Ecclestius and it was ended when his Grace, Duke Wilhelm and Lord Arckard was sent with the royal army and finally crushed it.

The Kings of Ecclestius:

King Asharian Krestarii (Reign: 1001-1004 of the Age of Empire)
King Asharian was the first of the Krestarii monarchs, at the time of his ascension he was a man of 36 years. He had two children, Crown Prince Jutarian and Princess Anastanii, in his bid to unite the Kingdom behind him after being given the Crown, he married his son, Crown Prince Jutarian, to the daughter of the Count of Saxon, Johanna. His daughter proved to be more troublesome as at that point she had already become pregnant outside a marriage and eventually gave birth to Varian who would later become King. She was eventually married to the Celestians, securing their loyalty, for the moment at least.

King Asharian himself was not a general, but that didn’t prevent him from giving his full support to the armies of the Light which he sent supplies and arms to fight the Dark. He often used diplomacy to unite the Light in the early days and hosted the assembly which elected Eylinn Mindrilla as commander of the Light. Following Ra’Gru’s turn to the Dark, King Asharian wanted originally to bed rid of his grandson Varian, but eventually was convinced not to, instead showing mercy and kindness to his grandson.

Following the sack of Azeratii, the King was left in grief as his son was killed during the fighting. Many claim that this shortened his years of life, and that the grief never left him. Standing at a crossroad he received help from the now Duke, Wilhelm Saxon, and eventually adopted and forgave his one time hated enemy, Ra´Gru and adopted him as his son under the name Ares, allowing Asharian to continue his line and his own blood through his grandson Varian. King Asharian at an early age sadly died, not long after these events, having left a large mark on the politics of Ecclestius, including the abolishment of slavery.

King Ares Krestarii (Reign: 1004 A.o.E – 19 A.o.C)
Ares Krestarii was adopted as son and heir to King Asharian Krestarii during the laters final months of life, King Ares was young when he took the crown and much like his predecessor he died earlier than he should have. When Ares became Crown Prince, he filled several roles which King Asharian could not, such as commanding the armies of Ecclestius, further strengthening the views of the royal family. King Ares inherited the crown from his adoptive father at a point which the climax of the Dark Wars drew close. He himself lead several mission and armies against the Dark, risking his life several times. As such he also received several injuries, most importantly one to his leg which he since had issues with, and one to the shoulder which was received in a fight against General Birch, which has since left him a poor swordsman.

He was married to Eylinn Mindrilla who bore him two children, Anwën and Lindarel. Most of King Ares reign was dominated by reforms, and more important strengthening the monarchy. As much as much of this is credited to the King, he in fact merely gave it his blessing and it was carried out by a minor noble who became important in the Kings court, he was Lord Rodney. It was also during the early parts of his position as Crown Prince that he secured the fealty of the tribes of Ordivantes led by the Tudonii house.

During the revolt in year nine, he responded with harsh punishments which has not since been forgotten, it eventually left many nobles condemned for their crimes against him and as such depending on what parts of Ecclestius you visit, his reputation is equally different.

His personal life was one mixed with happiness and sadness. His marriage to Eylinn Mindrilla often changed, at times they were happy and at other times they hated each other. King Ares greatly loved his wife yet had problems showing it and being a devoted husband as he dedicated much time to ruling the realm. He is also said to have spoiled his daughters, and dedicated much time to Prince Varian, whom he often brought with him to council to prepare him for Kingship.

King Ares also began trade with several petty Norse Kingdoms during the Norse Civil war that followed King Ulfriks death. He also encouraged the relationship between Ecclestius and Galadriel, becoming closer with Queen Nienna of the Elves over the course of the years. This however was not universally appreciated as many nobles desired to return to slavery as they had lost large amount of revenue with its abolishment.

During the 20th year of his reign, the wound in his leg once again became infected which it had done often before and resulted in his death.

King Varian Krestarii (Reign: 19 - of the Age of Crowns)
King Varian was born in the year 1001 of the Age of Empire, his mother was the Princess Anastanii and his father was the General Ra’Gru. At first his fate seemed uncertain as many members of his own family desired to kill him, it was until King Asharian was convinced otherwise and handed over the guardianship of the young child to Eylinn Mindrilla. He spent his next year in the care of Eylinn and eventually his father after he had returned to the Light.

When Varian reached the age of 3, the political landscape was vastly different than from his birth. This resulted in his father becoming the Crown Prince of Ecclestius and as such securing Varian’s own eventual inheritance. As such he moved to Azeratii palace shortly after the death of his grandfather and would afterwards become his home.

He grew up in a family which was often fractured and troublesome, this eventually boiled over during a visit to Saxony which saw his adoptive mother and sisters leave Ecclestius and travel to Galadriel for the next year. During that year he spent much time alone and eventually started more carnal activities which since has followed him. His parents eventually made up and his sisters returned to Ecclestius with their mother, this never managed to fix hole left in Varian and he has since held a disdain for both his parents.

Varian has been educated by several of the brilliant and powerful men in Ecclestius, including Lord Rodney, Arckard, Saxon, Whitewall and his own parents.

The Kingdom of Thaanos

tCojwMU.png

Landscape:

Though a small place in the world, Thaanos lies just in the area of variety, where the Highathar mountains meet the Galadriel forests, where Ecclestian hills meet Ecclestian swamps.

In the west lay the Highathar mountains, belonging to the dwarves, or atleast mostly so, they provide excellent resources from the mines, copper, tin and iron have rich nodes hidden within these mountains. The mountains also function as a wall, which has kept Thaanos relatively safe from the East. The only road toward the east is covered by the Keep at Deadwind Pass, making sure no traveller comes in unnoticed.

In the north lay the town of Splitwood, it is, or rather was, surrounded by patches of woodland, though the people of Splitwood and Thaanos have attempted to cultivate more trees within Thaanosian borders the people of Splitwood still often go out of their way to share the timber with their elven neighbours.

Toward the south lay the Warm Swamp, even more insurpassable as the mountains the swamp has provided protection for the people of Thaanos. Under it lay geothermal geysers, these cause the swamp to be unusually warm during any day of the year, attempt at cultivating this land has also thusly been difficult.

To the north-east of the crossroad town of Turninge lay the Ecclestian hills, these, together with the patch of land between Turninge and Thaanos are some of the most potential grounds for the growing of foods, and have also thusly provided Thaanos for centuries.

EmaWKB3.png

Thaanos itself, much like the swamps is actually also heat up by geothermal geysers, the castle has a system of pipes and vents that harvest the energy of the heat, delivering water for the hottest of baths, and in winter keeping most of the castle relatively warm.

Economy:

Thaanos, being secluded from the sea or any major river, does not enjoy the luxury of sea trade, however, it being a central hub, a lot of merchants seem to like to pass Thaanos, leading to a bit of income.

The main income comes from the mountains however, as well as the harvesting of wood, which is worked on by the best of Thaanosian woodcraftsmen and smiths to create jewelry, weapons, tools and anything in between.

However this does not mean the economy of Thaanos is very great, after all the militarization of Thaanos by Queen Wyna, Thaanos has been spending a serious amount on it's army, leading to cuts elsewhere, which led to certain revolts.

Inner Realm Politics:

The realm has changed it's politics quite a bit since the Queen came into power, though she has a council, she has spoiled herself with more power than she can handle.

Her council exists of:

Rais, Archbishop of Thaanos
Maut, Commander of Forces and Champion of the Ravens
Orbetal Eland, Master of Foreign Affairs
Meritt Kin, Master of Production and Coin

The council also used to include her mother Raety alot, but ever since the Queen's sister has been expelled from Thaanos she does no longer take part in realm politics.

The Queen does not trust most people in her council anymore however, after six years and no results in the matters she wanted. She still trusts her Commander however, he has been loyal to the Aingeals all his life, he knew Balfour very well. As for the Eland's and Kin's, they had only still been in the council because of family ties with the Aingeals. She makes sure however that Orbetal does not communicate with other realms and that Meritt does not even touch the royal coffers.

Outer Realm Politics and Relations:

Thaanos used to have good relations with the Ecclestian King Ares, however after the death of Duke Balfour Aingeal, Queen Wyna had been suspicious of her neighbours, which has not decreased, not even with the death of the former Ecclestian King himself.

However Thaanos also used to have bad relations with some of the Galadriel elves, this had however been fixed by Eylinn, having spoken with Balfour just before his death. This led to an increased trade between the elves and people of Thaanos.

Thaanos also has a brittle relationship with the people of Ordivantes, attempting a greater union of the two nations by means of trade.

Highathar has barely even been mentioned in Thaanosian politics however, some people still believe Dwarves are a myth, having barely ever seen one in person. The same goes for the Norselands which have been too far away from Thaanos to be relavent allies.

The Thaanosians had also dabbled with the Hronidens shortly, however the talks of friendship or alliances had ceased to be after the death of Balfour. There had even been talk of a potential marriage between some Hroniden noble and one of the Aingeal Twins.

Princess Malisa, in her exile has also been travelling Agorath, to persue the truth, to make her sister see, to create allies where before there had been none, however all of it, yet to no avail.

Family Tree:

qyliEK3.jpg

Lord Balfour Aingeal, Last Count of Thaanos and First Duke of Thaanos was afterward also married to the Lady Raety of Splitwood, one of the Thaanosian noble houses. Out of this marriage the Aingeal Twins were born, Wyna Matilda Aingeal and Malisa Mab Aingeal.

Some of the Aingeals have been known to possess fiery-instincts, even after the Golden City cataclysm and the cast of the ward there seems to be some weak signs left of their powers, though this has only been a speculation.

The Interregnum – The Extinction of Clan Garhold of Yurdaest
Written by Rundukr ‘Halfhelm’ Gustaw, First Librarian of Yurdaest

Yurdaest. A mountain that is bathed in air untouched by smog and covered in snow for most of a year. It is a lonely mountain that breeds creatures of solitary dispositions. The Dwarves of Yurdaest have long been renowned as being the most archaic and tradition-bound out of all of their kin in the realm of Highathar, and it is because of this that their one-time rulers, the Under-Kings of Clan Garhold, have disappeared from the face of this world.

The Dwarves of Yurdaest have a strong distrust of any Dwarf that does not hail from their Mountainhome, and an ever stronger hate of any creature that is not a Dwarf. These traits, combined with a tradition of raiding merchant caravans unwilling to utilize the tunnels of the Dwarves so as to avoid paying tolls and taxation, saw them be painted as bloodthirsty creatures, finding only joy in bloodshed. While it is true that the soldiers of Yurdaest are capable, with the correct training and conditioning, of entering a ‘martial trance’ this does not mean that the Dwarves of Yurdaest know no other way of life. Craftsdwarfship, like in many other Mountainhomes, is highly esteemed in Yurdaest, and the Mountainhome of the people of Yurdaest boasts many fine examples of craftsdwarfship.

But my tongue wanders, so allow me to refocus this work by looking at the immediate history of Yurdaest following the dissolution of the Golden Empire. Yurdaest was then under the control of Garhold Bittersteel, this being before Yurdaest joined the other Dwarven lords and ladies in utilizing their true names when dealing with outsiders, an aged warrior of a fearsome temperament. He would, in time, join the forces of the Dark One under the leadership of the so-called God-General Ra’Gru of Goi’Orka, now known as Ares Krestarii King of Ecclestius.

During the campaigns of the Dark Forces, of which other authors have written extensively about so I shall leave the curious to look at their works, Garhold Bittersteel served diligently and ably. A decision, however, of Garhold Bittersteel’s sowed the seeds of ruin for Yurdaest and his Clan as he appointed his half-breed bastard grandson, Garhold Quicksilver, as heir.

Garhold Quicksilver, working amongst the Forces of Light on a mission from the God-General Ra’Gru, met his future wife Evhana Mindrilla, sister of the famed Eylinn Krestarri, nee Mindrilla, arguably the most successful general of the Forces of Light. Whether the relationship that Garhold Quicksilver cultivated with the Elven women saw him turn his back on his Clan and Mountainhome, or whether there was an external influence, none can say with any certainity, but what we do know that is whilst his grandfather was leading his soldiers in the field, during Ra’Gru’s/Ares’ defection to the Forces of Light, Garhold Quicksilver wed the Elf maiden Evhana, and got her with child.

Quicksilver would, in time, be captured by the Forces of Darkness during a mission by the Lords and Ladies of the Light to capture the Maegi. Quicksilver was returned to Yurdaest in chains, and attempts were made to break him into renouncing his allegiance to the Lords of Light and rejoin his Grandfather and other kin. Quicksilver managed to escape, eventually, returning to wife’s lands in Galadriel where he nursed his wounds.

During the final stages of the war Garhold Quicksilver confronted his Grandfather whilst the Underking of Yurdaest, then crowned as High King of Highathar by the Dark One, was leading his host of Dwarven soldiers out of the mountains and down into Ecclestius. Challenging his Grandfather to combat for the right to rule the Clan Garhold and the Underkingdom of Yurdaest, an action that tradition dictated only full-grown Dwarven-men could undertake, Garhold Quicksilver emerged triumphant and took control of the now leaderless army of Yurdaestii Dwarves. His first order was to return to Yurdaest, where he personally executed his own two half-siblings, before undertaking a brutual purge that resulted in the extinguishing of the various other branches of the Garhold Clan. This move, all agree, was Quicksilver’s way of solidifying his rule and ensuring that there remained no other claimants for the Yurdaestii Crown.

Quicksilver’s host, after the butchery at their Mountainhome, joined the Forces of Light and assaulted the Golden City, which saw the Dwarven army decimiated, but victorious, and Quicksilver himself slain after killing the God-General Balthar Birch.

Quicksilver’s death caused unrest to grip Yurdaest as the heavy-hand style of rule that Quicksilver had employed came back against his successor, his and Evhana’s child known as Garhold Elu. Elu’s claim to power was never secure, as many denounced him as being the son of a kin-slaying bastard, who barely had any Dwarven blood. (Quicksilver himself was ½ Dwarf, ½ Elf. His children with Evhana, a purebred Elf, meant that all of his children would have only a ¼ of Dwarven blood in their veins, something intolerable to the traditionalist elites of Yurdaest.)

Garhold Elu’s reign saw continuous fighting for power as regent after regent tried to seize power, and rebellions during the boy’s infancy were numerous. The situation calmed for a time after his mother was named co-regent with one of the High King of Highathar’s most vocal supporters in Yurdaest. Under Evhana’s shrewd stewardship, and extensive informant network, Yurdaest slowly began to recover. On Elu’s fifteenth name-day, however, the situation began to quickly detoriate once again. Elu, determined to take control of Yurdaest himself, proclaimed that since he was now of age he had no need for any regent. The dismissal of his mother and the High King’s lackey, as well as the numerous appointments to other positions of note throughout the Mountainhome, caused an uproar.

The mood of Yurdaest further darkened when Elu took a Tribal Elf of Galdriel as his paramour, and refused to marry into one of the noble Dwarven families. The final event that pushed Yurdaest into full-blown revolt was Garhold Elu’s forced settlement of Orc and Elven populaces within the Mountainhome. For over a year blood ran in the dark tunnels of Yurdaest as the outsiders were butchered by the furious Dwarves, whilst the outsiders, unwilling to surrender their privleges, fought back. The blood-letting ended only when a group of Dwarven insurgents, led by Rundukr ‘Glassnose’ Konstantyn, managed to break into the Under-King’s palace and conduct a bloody purge. Amongst the dead was Garhold Elu’s paramour and his councillors. The Under-King’s body was never found.

After the death of the Underking a previously quiet Dwarf, who had served as steward for a time during the long regency of Garhold Elu, stepped forth and began to organize the situation in Yurdaest. The violence stopped, the outsiders that remained were allowed to leave with their lives, and a sembelance of sanity returned to the Mountainhome. The Dwarf’s name was Dáin ‘Blacklocks’ Dominik, a Dwarf of minor noblility, who, for his role in returning order to Yurdaest and his neutrality in the Yurdaestii Revolt, saw him named as Under-King of Yurdaest by the High King of Highathar himself.

The response from Mirrorwater, the seat of Evhana Mindrilla, was muted. The only request was that Elu’s body was returned to Mirrorwater, a request that Dáin Blacklocks tried to fulfil, but could not. Those responsible for breaching the palace, and the killings that occurred within it, started to disappear one by one without a trace. Ominously mutilated organs and severed limbs of Dwarves, drained of their blood and fluids, would appear throughout Yurdaest, in seemingly apparent random locations close to the ruined palace gates, as well as sent to the families of those responsible during the weeks following the uprising. No claim to the crown of Yurdaest was pushed by the second son of Quicksilver, the Elven boy known as Cacame Mindrilla (he adopted his mother's name after the ascension of Dáin Blacklocks) whom seems to have no interest in reclaiming Yurdaest for his bloodline. Under the leadership of the conciliatory Dáin Blacklocks Yurdaest begins the long road to recovery, a shadow of its former self.

((This is just my explanation of what happened to Yurdaest since I no longer play there. Long story short, is a smoking hellhole that is slowly being rebuilt. It's too broken to be a threat, and is too weak to revolt.))
