Ideally, I'd like the subsidy to expire at the end of war the receiving nation is involved. Right now, you can cancel subsidies when they're no longer in the war but it would save many clicking over time, granting and then cancelling subsidies and again. I would suggest adding "For the length of war" or something as a duration option in Give Subsidies window.
Alternatively, create a new diplomatic option called "War Subsidy" which would be a type of subsidy that automatically expires at the end of war the receiving nation is in at the time subsidy is granted.
