Does my steward's and my wife's stewardship abilities contribute to my demesne limit? Or is it entirely dependent on my own stewardship skills?

The stewards score does not contribute, and it hasn't since around the release of ToG.

They nerfed demesne limits and nerfed the effect of the stats of your council members.

They sometimes go back and forth on their concepts like that and aren't above making some aspects of the game irrelevant. There's generally either too little or too much effect, either OP or nerf into the ground with like no middle ground. This is the chief problem I have with this game, having played it since release (>1800 hours).
