Iam having a problem with the strategic bombardment option.

I have completed all of the air doctrine technologies and I have a fleet of 8 Lancaster groups that I assigned to bomb the hell out of Berlin by night. That was one game year ago and they don't seem to have done anything in that year but sit on their air base, they have suffered no casualties nor am I short of oil, they seem to sit their doing nothing.

Check the parameters of the mission. In particular, the 'end date' part (it may be set to the following day, or even hour).
If changing that doesn't help, reduce the parameters to call of the mission.

Try 1% strenght/org? Also, double check your start date. If you have the option to select the strategic bombing mission then you've obviously researched the need techs so i can't think of anything else. Sometimes bad weather will prevent the mission, but not for an entire year.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but you are sure that Berlin is within range right? That's... about the only other alternative I can think of, apart frome external issues like a faulty installation.

Yes Iam on 17th September 1944 and the mission starts 17/9/44 and continues untill 1946 as a working end date no effect. I have watched the mission calender move but the units dont leave the ground

Berlin is in range and so is Frankfurt which is also the target for the USAF based in Norfolk, day attacks. Lilewise no effect.

The only other explanation I can think of at the moment is weather. If there are storms over the airbase provinces or (I think) target provinces that would cancel the missions. Pasha's already raised this issue, but I think that if you miss the start date the mission goes into limbo and so could just sit idle for a year.

Iam runing the game at above normal speed does that make a differance to a unit commecing an air misson baring in mind that it dosnt yet appear to have flown. Otherwise I will go back to basics on this one and rewread the rule as I must have missed a step somewhere.

Btw I have naval recon aircraft who are permited to fly air superiority missons, as anyone tried dog fighting with a Sunderland?

Put up-to-date escort fighters on TACs and they become formidable dog fighters. Haven't tried with NAVs though.

Hey  ! You better be bombing the Japanese! Or better yet, the Russians!

Not when your fighting Muricah! The only way to beat Muricah is gorilla warfare. Muricans hate that evilution theory.

From Wikipedia:

During the 19th century the popular image of the war in the United States was of an American victory, and in Canada, of a Canadian victory. Each young country saw its self-perceived victory as an important foundation of its growing nationhood. The British, on the other hand, who had been preoccupied by Napoleon's challenge in Europe, paid little attention to what was to them a peripheral and secondary dispute, a distraction from the principal task at hand.

Sounds legit.
