So, this is going to look stupid, but oh well.

So how does pressing a claim work? Not your own, pressing other people's claims. If you push a claim for a title weaker than yours, does the person become your vassal or do they stay independent? If so, does pressing a claim weaker than yours on someone equal or higher than yours mean that your target loses his vassal and the the newly instated ruler placed under you or do you just end up changing your neighbor's vassal?

If the person you press a claim for is your vassal they will remain your vassal only if their new title is lower then yours.

So let's you're the duke of whatever and press one of your counts claims on another county...they will gain that county and remain your vassal. If you pressed a duchy claim of theirs they will go independent because a duchy can't be a vassal of another duchy (same title tier).

Your second question kind of confuses me, sorry lol.

Random unlanded courtiers will become independant. Unless it is a de jure vassal(from memory).

Dynasty members will become vassals, if the title is lower than yours.

Landed will remained your vassal so long as they do not become equal or high in rank than you.

Regarding the first part, as was stated:
- if you press a claim for an unlanded courtier, he/she will get the title and always become independent (they'll love you by +100 though), unless the claim you are pressing is de jure part of your land (in this case they become your direct vassal, so vassal management may be necessary later);
- if you press a claim for a relative of your dinasty, he/she will always become your vassal, regardless of whether or not the title in question is your de jure, unless the title you are trying to claim is incapable of legally being vassalized by you (aka is equal or higher than your primary title in rank);
- if you press a claim for a landed noble, he/she will get the land and always stay your vassal, again unless the title you claimed is equal or higher in rank than your primary;

Regarding the second part: to my knowledge, it will create an independent ruler, so the guy you declared war on loses his/her territory in favour of the claimant, even if the land taken was a vassal's...

Yes, the rank of the defendant doesn't matter, all that counts is your rank and the claimant's alongside his/her status (landed, unlanded, kinsman/woman).
Weak or Strong Claim only influences your ability to press it - Strong whenever you wish, Weak only against regencies and women.
